Chapter 2: The New Twins
Aoi's POV
"Sunrise?"
"Yeah, I think you'll have a lot of fun there."
Now that I'd moved, I had to find a new school to go to. So Aunt Risa decided to help me with my choice. The first school I looked at was a military academy that started at eight in the morning and released at four in the afternoon. Also I learned that if you so much as got caught chewing gum you would get a detention which involved electric wire fences and rabid dogs. I don't even wanna know what happens if you were to get into a fight. I thought.
Obviously I tried to explore more options.
The next school I looked at was like, maybe the polar opposite of the former. For the school uniform, all students were required to wear all pink of any shade, even the boys (which sounds pretty 'homo' but maybe it's just me). Candy and cookies were served for lunch, school would be cancelled whenever it rained, and what got me the most was that every morning the entire school population would gather around in the courtyard, join hands, and sing 'Kumbayah'.
So one was TOO happy, the other was....not.
The process of finding the perfect school went on and on and on until Aunt Risa finally threw the name "Sunrise High School" out there.
"Are you sure this isn't like the ‘Elmo's World’ school?" I asked her," With a name like 'Sunrise' it sounds like it could be..."
"I don't know why they call it that," Aunt Risa said matter-of-factly, "but I heard it's really nice. Why don't you Google it?"
"Sure."
I went to Google.com and typed in the name of the school in the search margin. It seemed pretty normal to me. No candy, no electric fences, normal hours, normal uniforms...and while I was looking at the extracurricular activities I noticed...
"They have a chorus!!!"
Aunt Risa looked at me with a surprised look, "Aoi I had no idea you were a singer!"
"I sure am! Listen to this..." I busted a couple of high notes for her and she clapped.
"So have we found a winner?" Aunt Risa asked sounding like a game show host.
"I think we have!"
"Sunrise it is, then."
Hana's POV
I spent hours trying to figure out what school I was going to go to now that my former school had been turned to debris. I searched and I searched until I came across a school called 'Sunrise High School'.
"Hmm..."
My brother then came knocking on my door, interrupting my chain of thought. "Come in..."
Kazuke entered my room with a BANG!
He almost tore my door off its hinges! I thought.
“A less explosive entrance would be nice..."
"Sorry, but I came in here to tell you that it's time to go eat."
I sighed heavily; dinner was one of my least favorite routine events. Although I loved to eat, all it was was another opportunity for Dad to go on a rant about his seemingly endless frustrations. “I’ll be there in a minute.”
My brother left my room once again, slamming the door behind him.
Now what was the point of closing, not to mention slamming my door shut when I just said I'd be out in a minute...sometimes I just don't understand the way he thinks.
Trying not to think too hard on the unsolvable enigma of my sibling's mind I went right on to the dinner table.
"Ramen, again?" Kyo, my youngest brother asked.
"Yes, until I go shopping that's all we'll be eating." My father replied.
“Dad, I can go shopping!” I said, but Dad acted as if he never even heard me offer my services.
While we were eating there was a long, awful awkward silence that I just had to break. I decided to tell Dad about my prospective new school.
“It’s called 'Sunrise High School' it seems really nice and I'd love to go there…"
Dad looked at me like I had four eyes. Well, like I literally had four eyes. “You actually want to go back to school after your last school got bombed?"
"Yes, I really do!" I exclaimed.
“I don't see what the point is..."
I didn't want to ask, but I was so curious as to what he meant..."What do you mean by that, Dad?"
He put his chopsticks down and turned to look me straight in the eye. “It means that there's no point in you returning to school. You won't be able to graduate and you'll never amount to anything in life..."
At that moment, my heart was comparable to the image of my old school, Shikon High, on the news the other day: Broken up into little pieces.
"Dad...you don't-you don't really mean that do you?"
"It's the truth." That's all he said.
Tears started to well up in my eyes, I couldn't let everyone see me crying so I excused myself and got up. I heard my brother begin to say something to my father, but then I heard, "Never mind."
I ran to my room and bawled like a baby into my pillow.
Why am I getting so upset? It's just a little comment. Maybe it's because I've felt deep down inside that he's always felt this way about me. But to hear him actually say it...it hurts.
I realized my computer was still on. I turned off my screensaver by moving the mouse. It was still on the page for Sunrise. On my desk I had a picture of my mother; I grabbed it and started talking to it as if it were actually her.
"You know what Mom? I'm not gonna listen to anything he says. I'm going to this school and I'm going to enjoy it as much as I possibly can!"
I put 'Mom' back on the desk and continued to look at the school website. On the home page I noticed a paragraph talking about the school's 'racially diverse' population.
"Hmm, I wonder what that means...is it an international school?"
Aoi's POV
I couldn't wait to tell Hana about finding my new school, so I called her as soon as I possibly could.
"Moshi, Moshi!""HEY SISSY!!!"
"Hey *onee-chan!"
"Um excuse me Hana, but I do believe we're twins!"
"Oops, you're right." she laughed. She always seemed to be so carefree.
"Guess what? I found a new school!"
Hana sounded surprised, “Really? I did too!"
"Wait, you're not in school already?"
"Oh," she paused," my school was destroyed recently, it got bombed."
I gasped, "Are you serious? Shikon High...that was your school?"
"Yes ma'am, I'm as serious as a heart attack."
"Wow....that blows."
"Quite literally!" Hana added in.
"Girlie, it seems you've been hanging around me too long and we've just met!"
"Ha, I guess so."
"Well, what school are you going to?" I asked.
"No, you brought up the topic so you should tell me your school first."
"Okay then. I'm going to...."
"TELL ME!"
I started laughing at my sister's impatience. "Calm down chica, I was pausing for dramatic effect."
“I thought we were mixed with Caucasian not Hispanic, besides I most certainly WILL cause some dramatic effects to your body if you don't hurry up and tell me what school you're going to...!"
"Okay! Easy...! It's called 'Sunrise High School'."
I heard Hana gasp over the phone. "What's wrong?"
"I'm going there too!"
"For real?!"
"Yeah!"
"OMFG, YAAY!!! I'm going to go check out the school tomorrow, what about you?"
"Yup! Hey, we can go together!"
"Yeah!"
"OMFG, YAAAAY!" We both said together.
"Man, we sound so preppy Hana, how many times have we said 'OMFG'?"
"OMFG,OMFG,OOOOMMMMFFFGGGGG!" Hana exclaimed.
"You think you're reeaaallll funny."
"I know so." she remarked.
"Weeellll then, see you tomorrow?"
"Certainly!"
"Alright, bye twin!"
"Bye twin."
I clicked the phone off and collapsed onto my bed. "Ah, I'm so happy I found my sister. Now I won't have to go through this change alone..."
Hana's POV
The next day, Aoi and I sat in the principal's office for what seemed like forever. He was ranting about something…I wasn't really listening though. And quite frankly I don't think Aoi was either. A student aide or something, probably a senior, came into the office and offered the principal a cupcake.
"Oh thank you, I love cupcakes!" he said taking one with pink frosting.
"OOH! I want one!" Aoi said as she was just waking up from a daydream and not realizing that the pastry was not being offered to her.
“I’m sorry...?" The principal asked.
"Oh, nothing sir." My sister said. A call came through the principal's phone. He answered it and carried on a short, but boring conversation with whoever was on the line. He hung up the phone and gave a great long sigh.
"Is it very stressful being a principal sir?"
"Yes...very."
Aoi sat up and asked, "So why do you do something you clearly don't enjoy? Why exactly are you a principal?"
".....because...."
"Hm?" My sister and I asked simultaneously.
"Because I like high school girls that's why!!"
"WHAT?" I said.
"Oh, because I like...teaching....high school students...yeah..."
You've probably seen on television when twins have this telepathy thing goin' on and how one twin can feel what the other twin feels, thinks, and so on. Well that's what happened with Aoi and me at that moment. Just from her look I could tell she was thinking something along the lines of, I don't think I'm feelin' this guy too much.
And she could probably tell that I was thinking the same thing.
Hopefully he won't be feelin' me if you catch my drift... I thought.
There was a knock at the door, breaking our telepathic bond...
"Ah, I think your student guide is here, ladies!"
I was so relieved to get away from the creepy, pedophiliac principal. I knew Aoi was too. The door opened and in came a girl with long black waist-length hair and big, brown eyes. She turned to us and asked, "Are you two the new students?"
"Yes." We both replied in our twin voices.
"Twins! That's so cute! What are your names?"
"Well, my name is Hana."
"And I'm Aoi." My sister said introducing herself to our new companion.
"I'm Kagome Higurashi. It's nice to meet you two! I'm going to show you around the school today."
That was kind of blatantly obvious, but she was being so nice to us I decided not to say anything.
“So shall we begin?" Kagome asked us.
"Yeah!" Aoi and I both said in our twin voices yet again.
Before we took off, my sister and I crossed our fingers and then rushed off to catch up with Kagome.
Aoi's POV
"So, classes start in maybe twenty minutes. Right now everyone is just fraternizing with each other."
I gasped. "What's wrong?" Kagome asked.
"Nothing." I said.
"Well, let's keep walking!"
Hana and I stayed slightly behind Kagome.
"Why did you gasp, Aoi?"
I laughed, "Honestly it was just because I didn't think Kagome was capable of using the word 'fraternizing'."
Hana hit me in the shoulder, "You know you're wrong."
I just smiled at her. "Come on you two, don't get lost!" Kagome yelled back at us.
We had to sprint to catch up with Kagome and to avoid getting lost in the sea of students.
Kagome was pointing out classrooms to us when suddenly a boy ran past us. He looked like he was trying to get away from someone (and was trying to give me whiplash in the process).
"Where in the world does he have to go?" Hana wondered aloud.
A second after she said that, something came whooshing at the speed of light right past our faces. It hit the boy in the back of the head and he fell over like a rag doll. Everyone had gathered around the now unconscious boy. It was quick but we could see that what had hit him in the head was in fact a really big boomerang.
Kagome got a look on her face sort of like a mix of horror and realization.
"Sango...."
"Hm?" My sister and I said together. We saw a girl walking down the hallway with a very confident looking attitude. She had an athletic build with brown hair and brown eyes. She was very pretty.
Kagome turned to the girl and started yelling, "Sango! Why are you causing trouble this early? School's barely started and you've already knocked someone out!"
The girl stopped walking when she was directly in front of Kagome. “Causing trouble? Kagome-chan, I have no idea what you're talking about..." the girl said.
Kagome looked like she was getting irritated, “Hello? You knocked out this boy with your boomerang!"
The girl looked absolutely appalled, “You just assumed I did that, even when you didn’t actually see me do it?"
"Sango," Kagome said slightly calmer," you are the one and ONLY person in the entire school, who would actually possess a boomerang. Not only that but it came from the direction you were just walking from and went back to you!"
The mystery girl sighed and walked over to the boy. "Okay. It is mine. However..."
She bent down and started digging in the boy’s pocket until she fished out some money. "The little punk pick-pocketed me, I had to do something!"
"Oh my gosh I don't know what to do with you!" Kagome said. The girl turned to me and my sister and looked us up and down. "Who are you two?"
Kagome was occupied with banging her head against the wall in frustration and didn't notice that she was slacking on her job.
"Oh I'm sorry! Aoi, Hana, this is my good friend-"
"Kuwashima Sango! Charmed to meet you two!" Sango beat Kagome to the punch.
“Charmed.” Hana and I said.
“So…I’m assuming you two are new?”
“Yes they are.” Kagome said before we could say anything. “And I was showing them around until your little interruption.”
“Well I can’t help it if guys want my goodies.”
Um…okay. I’m trying to figure out in what context does she mean by that. I heard Hana think. Well judging by the situation, I think she means her stuff not her body. I thought.
Hana’s POV
Our chain of thought was broken when I noticed something I didn’t notice before. ”Hey Aoi…” I said. “I think I know why this school is called ‘racially diverse’.”
“Why?" she asked.
I didn’t answer but my thoughts led her to look in my line of direction. Among the crowd of the average boys and girls…were youkai. Some, besides their pointed ears, claws and fangs, strange colored eyes and hair, and markings, looked like humans. Meanwhile others had their addition of horns and pale or colored skin
"Wow," Aoi said "I've heard about schools with youkai but actually going to one of them? Snap, that's HOT!"
I laughed at my sister and her weird catchphrases. Kagome suddenly realized what we were talking about and said “Oh yeah I did forget to mention…this is one of the only schools in all of Japan that has a huge youkai population.” Aoi and I had already realized this but we decided not to say anything.
She sure does state the obvious a lot. I heard Aoi thinking.
I giggled, That’s so true though.
Even if it was a recent realization she still said it a bit late. I then noticed the crowd had moved away from the unconscious boy. I was about to see if he was okay when I heard a cold voice. “What happened here?” Kagome, Sango, Aoi, and I turned in the direction of the voice. I gasped at what I saw and Aoi and I shared the same thought. He’s gorgeous! It was a youkai, obviously. He had long silvery white hair, gold eyes, pointed ears, claws, fangs (though you couldn’t see them at the time), a turquoise crescent moon on his forehead and two pink stripes on each of his cheeks. He really was handsome but he looked so…cold. Sango groaned and said, “Nothing that concerns you Sesshomaru.” Sesshomaru…I thought. It definitely wasn’t a name you heard everyday. But then again I also didn’t see youkai every day.
“First of all I will not have you address me improperly. It’s Takahashi-san to you. And as president of the student council whatever happens in this school does concern me. So what happened?” he asked again.
“Well if you must know a boy pick pocketed me so…”
“You knocked him unconscious with the boomerang.” he said finishing her sentence. “Sango…you know having that excuse for a weapon on school grounds is a violation.”
Sango fumed with anger and said “First of all this is not an excuse for a weapon! This hiraikotsu has been passed down in my family for generations and is a very capable weapon! Second of all, if I didn’t have to worry about people tryin’ to jack me then I wouldn’t feel a need to bring it!”
Despite Sango’s anger, the guy Sesshomaru still remained calm, though irritation was evident in his face. “Listen, I will not have some insecure tomboy ruining the structure of this school. You need to find another way to settle your problems and I don’t want to see that thing again.” Just before walking away Sesshomaru briefly glanced at Aoi and me. Wow…what a jerk. I heard Aoi think.
Yeah. I agreed. He’s more like president of the assholes if you ask me. She gasped and said out loud “I can’t believe you just said that!”
“What-did she say?” Kagome asked confused while holding Sango back from running after Sesshomaru and murdering him. Aoi giggled nervously, not wanting Kagome to think she was mental because she hears voices. “Ah nothing! I just thought she said something but she didn’t!” “O…Kay.” Although Kagome still seemed a tad bit suspicious she seemed to be satisfied with that answer. Finally after a minute or so, Kagome got Sango to calm down.
"Dang that Sesshomaru gets on my NERVES!" Sango vented.
"Yeah." I said.
"We can see." Aoi added on.
Kagome held Sango's forearm just in case she cracked again. "Yeah, Sesshomaru's the president of the student council..."
Alright now, Miss Lady, you're startin’ to get on my nerves with this obviousness....
"Aoi!" I said. However I forgot that I heard her thoughts and not her voice so once again I made Kagome look at me like I was crazy.
"Uhh, you dropped your money!" I threw some cash down on the floor and picked it back up. "You should be more careful!" Play along!
Aoi caught on quick "Oh, uh...thanks! Good lookin' out, Twin!"
Kagome and Sango had looks on their faces as if to say, 'Ohh.'
That was a close one. I thought But really though, didn't he just say who he was before he left?
Yeah.
Kagome looked as if she was ready to continue on with what she was saying without any disturbances," Well yeah, he's the president. But sometimes he seems to take stuff a little too, well, seriously! Especially his job...which is why he's earned the name among some folks..."
"The friendly neighborhood jerk-off." Sango finished.
"Sango!" Kagome said, appalled at her friend's language.
"Truth'll set you free..." Sango said in her defense.
My sister and I laughed. "I have to say he does seem sort of mean..." I said.
"But one thing's for sure..." Aoi said.
"What is that?" Kagome asked.
Aoi and I looked at each other, "He is HOT!" We both giggled.
"Oh my...Kagome, what if they turn out to be...one of them?" Sango said.
"Them?" Kagome said confused.
"Oh you know…theeem."
"Ooooh, yeah. That would be something."
Hana finally decided to break our silence, "Who will we turn out to be one of?"
Sango and Kagome looked at each other, as if to imply that one had to do the disastrous job of telling us what in the blazes they were talking about. I'm guessing Kagome lost the silent argument because she started talking. "Well...there's a club here at Sunrise...not an official club really but, they're so crazy they scared the principal into allowing them to actually hold meetings. Usually 'Sesshomaru fans' end up in this club and they have been dubbed-"
"Speak of the devil," Sango said with a look of absolute horror, "they're HERE!"
Marching down the hallway was a group of female upperclassmen. All of them were wearing the same pink armband. They stopped in front of Kagome, Sango, Aoi, and I and asked us, "Have any of you seen Sesshomaru today?"
"You missed him like 5 minutes ago," Kagome said seeming afraid to not reply to their question, “he was just chewing out Sango here."
Every single girl in the clique about-faced to stare Sango down.
"You mean to say Sesshomaru-sama actually took his precious time to talk to you?" The leader said.
Sango rolled her eyes," Oh get over yourself Sayo, your precious 'Sesshy' isn't the least bit interested in me. And even if he was, there's no way I'd give him the time of day."
The girls looked at each other reassured. "Good to know that you know your place." The girl named Sayo turned to look at me and Aoi. "Oh, I haven't seen you two around here before...new?"
"Uhh, yeah." Aoi replied for us.
Sayo chuckled, “I see. Well here's your first lesson, new girls: Stay away from Sesshomaru-sama and you won't have to deal with us. 'Kay? 'Kay. See you around!"
She turned around to face her lackeys, "Onward, ladies! He couldn't have gotten that far!"
All that unnecessary talk, he probably has, I heard my sister think. With that the girls continued on down the long hallway.
"Congratulations twins! You've met the ASF-Association of Sesshomaru Fangirls."
And now that I'd thought about it, those armbands did in fact say, "We *heart* Sesshy!"
Aoi's POV
We learned from Sango that the ASF had been apart of Sunrise High School since Sesshomaru had arrived there. It of course, was comprised of every Sesshomaru-lovin' girl on campus. Well, at least the ones that weren't afraid to join! The whole purpose of this club was to admire Sesshomaru Takahashi in all of his beautiful, taiyoukai awesomeness. Hana and I were also informed about the other main goal of ASF, to mentally, and possibly physically, break down any girl who got too close to their god.
"One time, this girl said 'Hi' to Sesshomaru in the hallway. Sayo found out and spread rumors about her throughout the school." Kagome had informed us.
"How bad could it have been though? Weren’t they were just rumors?" Hana asked.
“Well...they must have been pretty bad considering she killed herself out of grief for being tortured about it so much."
Omigod.
Holy Sh---
Man these girls were trouble.
"Oh and Sayo...she's their leader." Kagome added.
I've given up on her Aoi, what about you? I heard my sister say.
Heck yes.
"Well, enough about ASF, you'll see enough of them to last you a lifetime over the course of this year. We only have 10 minutes 'til class starts, so I guess we should be heading to our classes now. Well, later Sango!" Kagome waved goodbye to her friend, who looked at her like she was psycho.
"What are you talking about? I wanna walk you and the new girls to class!"
"No Sango! Go to class!"
"Please?"
"No!"
"Can I can I can I can I can IIIII?????" Sango sounded like a little girl who had too many pixie sticks at once.
"Alright!! Come on..." Poor Kagome could never win against the mighty Sango.
Sango, Kagome, Hana and I were all walking side by side to our classroom when a boy appeared before us with two girls clinging to his arms. The boy was very handsome. He had dark brown eyes and short black hair, and he had his ear pierced.
How much you wanna bet it's another one of Kagome's crazy friends? I heard Hana think.
"Kagome! Sango!" the boy exclaimed, "I'll talk to you later, ladies!"
"Bye Miroku!!" The girls said flirtatiously as they walked away.
With the groupies gone, the boy's full attention was directed towards Sango and Kagome. “Isn’t the first day of school grand?" He said as if he had no other worries in life.
"Oh yeah Miroku I bet it is grand for you." Sango said with a hint of sarcasm. “With the incoming freshman and all, that means more women to violate doesn't it?"
"Oh you know it!"
With that he hugged both girls at once. I noticed though that his hands kept traveling downwards, and before either me or Hana knew it...
POP! The boy named Miroku got two nice, hard slaps to the face.
"Why first thing in the morning though, Miroku?!" Sango yelled.
"Oh I don't know-" Miroku had spotted us. "Am I seeing double-?"
Corny.
"Who are these beautiful girls that the both of you failed miserably to introduce me to?"
"Miroku....NO." Kagome said with concern and assertiveness all at once.
"Yeah Miroku, they're new, give 'em a break." Sango said.
"I haven't the slightest clue what you two are talking about, but anyway..." Miroku turned his attention back to us. "Hello twins! My name is Miroku! I must say I'm looking very forward to getting to know both of you. Now...may I ask you two something...?" He grabbed both of our hands.
"Miroku don't do it..." Kagome said in a warning tone.
"Sure." Hana and I said.
“Do you think either of you would mind..."
"MIROKU…!” Sango said even scarier.
"...bearing my children?"
NANI?
Me and Hana both looked at each other and said simultaneously, "Sure, Miroku!” with big smiles on our faces.
Miroku looked like he had won the lottery. "Wha-Really??"
"NO!" We said simultaneously again. And we gave him two more smacks upside his head.
Miroku looked as if he had an allergic reaction to something because his face was so red from being slapped. "Why me??" He asked in a whining voice.
"Because you're a lecher, Miroku. That's why." Sango said.
Miroku raised himself from his spot on the floor and wiped the crocodile tears from his eyes. "Sango, you're right."
Sango looked at him curiously, "Huh?"
"I'm not but a humble lecher, and that's how I'll always be!" Miroku grabbed Sango's butt and ran for his life.
"MIROKU!!!" Sango was gone like the wind.
Me and my sister stood dumbfounded next to Kagome. "Who in the world was that?" I asked.
"Yet another one of my crazy friends." Kagome replied.
Told you. Hana thought.
"That one goes by the name of Miroku, and as you can see, he's...."
"Your friendly neighborhood gigolo?" Aoi suggested.
"Exactly...Oh! Class is about to start! Let's get moving right now! Keep your eyes to the floor and don't talk to anyone!"

Chapter 2: The New Twins
Aoi's POV
"Sunrise?"
"Yeah, I think you'll have a lot of fun there."
