InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Not Heaven Sent ❯ Tree? ( One-Shot )
A/N: Well, here it is…the first smut I ever wrote…so far it's gotten good reviews from friends, even one who was male. O_o This is just a little Rin/Sesshoumaru fic, for no real reason, just because I felt like writing something about them. I did not cover how they got together, but if you want to know, there are a couple excellent stories about it in my "favourite stories" list. ^_^ The basic warnings apply. There be smut ahead...smut, lemon, PWP, whatever you want to call it. Nevertheless, I still tried to make it an interesting character piece as well. But don't read it if you can't handle it. I'm not going to get on people about age, cause I certainly was younger than 18 when I read my first smut. Just don't get in trouble. ~_^ But please do leave your reviews!
And by the way…this is all Julie's fault… Love ya, Julie!
Not Heaven Sent
By Lady Blackmour
"And I won't cry, I won't die, I won't even say goodbye,
And still you say that I am so wonderful.
Not heaven sent, or heaven blessed. I'm not even second best,
But still you say that I am so wonderful."
-Seven Nations
She was dancing in the fields outside his palace, gathering wildflowers for no apparent reason when she noticed him approaching her. He was capable of moving so fast he seemed to blur, and stretch, and even be in several places at once, but he walked now, slowly, and she paused in her work, eagerly grasping at the opportunity to watch him, unashamed and unembarrassed as she stared openly.
It had been a year since he'd made her his mate. She hadn't changed at all in that year, not physically anyway. Nor would she, ever again, as long as he lived. A youkai mating was a serious affair. She was not allowed to leave his side, ever, not even to die, and so she would be young as long as he lived, and she would die when he died. She was still human, in the real sense of the word, but her life was drastically different from any other. It would be a very long time before he died.
Not that she minded. Eternity with Sesshoumaru was more than heaven, and life without him was…hardly worth living. She'd known what she had agreed to, and she had done it willingly.
Folding her legs beneath her, she sat in the tall grass, weaving the flowers absently into a chain. Her dark eyes still followed him, but her mind wandered. It wandered back, through memories both sweet and bitter.
Ten years. Ten years as his little Rin, following him wherever he went, doing so gladly. Ten years of loving him secretly, first just a crush, blooming as she grew, into something beautiful and fragile and immense. The more she had grown, the more she had grown to love her demon saviour. Ten years of love, followed by three weeks of immense confusion and hurt. She thought she'd lost him forever. But in the end, it was he who found her.
In the rush that had followed he had somehow managed to calm himself long enough to explain to her what mating with a youkai truly entailed…and to ask her once again if it was truly the path she wished to take. She giggled at the memory. Someday he would learn that from the moment she first saw him in the forest near her village, she had been willing to live or die for him. She had thought he was an angel. Even finding out that the truth was rather the opposite had not lessened her adoration of him.
She pulled her thoughts back to the present when she realized he was standing just next to her, his head cocked to one side as if he were thinking, and that tiny smile that could light up the day all on its own gracing his beautiful lips.
"Did you want something?" she asked, teasingly.
"As a matter of fact, yes," he replied, looking serious as always. "I came to fetch you in for dinner."
"Is it that late?" she asked, looking at the sky. "I hadn't realized. The days are longer now." She looked back at him, smiling mischieviously. "But is this to be believed?" she asked, with mock surprise. "The great taiyoukai, Sesshoumaru, the Lord of the Western Lands, has come to fetch me himself? Why not just send a servant?" she asked playfully.
He leaned down so close that she could feel his breath on her face. The tiny smile was now a full-fledged smirk. "But, Rin," he whispered. "Coming to fetch you is so much fun."
"Fun, is it?" she whispered back, placing the now finished flower crown on his head and smirking back. "Then let's have even more fun, shall we? Let's play a game." And placing her hands on his chest and giving him one good shove, she toppled him onto his backside. In an instant she was on her feet and running towards the ancient tree in the middle of the field, calling "Catch me!" over her shoulder. She knew that he could catch up with her easily, with almost no effort.
She also knew that he wouldn't. Where was the fun in that?
She reached the tree and began to climb. She had only made it a few limbs up when he appeared suddenly in front of her, floating above the ground. "Too slow," he whispered. She gasped, startled, and began to fall backwards, but he caught her easily, holding her to him. "I caught you," he said, floating them both to a wide limb, hidden and protected by the thick foliage of the tree. Leaning back against the trunk and settling her in his lap he smiled again at her. "Perhaps dinner can wait." His hand stroked through her hair. "I've discovered it is rather pleasant out here."
"Mmm," she replied, snuggling into his arms. "I agree. Eating is highly overrated."
They stayed like that for a long time, he watching the sun through the leaves as it slowly moved towards the horizon, his clawed hand still gently caressing her hair, her shoulders, her back; and she, content to merely close her eyes and lose herself in his warmth, his scent, his embrace.
Time passed, the light turned from bright white to deep orange, and she sighed. "I suppose we really should go in," she said, reluctantly. Then she giggled a little. "I imagine Jaken is beginning to worry."
"All the more reason to stay out here just a little longer," he returned, framing her face with his hands and lowering his mouth to hers.
The kiss was gentle, and she arched into it instinctively, which only seemed to encourage him to make it something more serious. He parted her lips gently, and she found that, even after a year, the touch of his tongue on hers still sent a delicious shock through her. She prayed silently that it would always be that way between them.
He broke the kiss, but didn't go far, loosening her kimono to expose her shoulder to his lips. She smiled, closing her eyes and letting her fingers wander underneath his own robe, to caress the warm skin of his sternum. "Mmmm…" she said again as the kimono moved further down, altough his mouth moved up to her ear. Suddenly she remembered where they were, and her eyes snapped open. "Sesshoumaru!" she cried, and he pulled back to look at her questioningly. "Sesshoumaru," she said again, "…in a tree?"
He only smiled, looking every inch the predator she knew him to be, and leaned forward again to press his lips to her neck, nipping her lightly with his fangs and then flicking out his tongue to soothe the spot. His hand slipped up underneath the skirt of her robe to reach her thigh. She laughed breathlessly. "All right then," she whispered. "In a tree it is."
"Glad you see things my way," he replied, following the now very low V of her kimono's neck and kissing a path down her chest, to the valley between her breasts. She arched again, and the kimono fell away, exposing her to him completely from the waist up. One hand moved to tease her left breast, as his mouth moved to worship her collar bone, and she gasped, but still managed to keep enough of her sanity to begin undoing the knot in the sash that held his robes closed. Then it was done, and he was pressing his bare chest against hers, kissing her deeply as she ran her fingers through his silver-white hair.
He laid her back, moving to untie her own sash. And though the branch was at least twice as wide as she was, still she said, "Sesshoumaru, I'm afraid. What if I fall? I'm not youkai like you. It might kill me!"
"Shh…" he said, leaning over to press his forehead against hers. "I won't let you fall, Rin. I won't let anything happen to you. You know I'll always protect you." She looked at him closely, seeing the truth in his golden eyes, and smiled.
"I trust you," she said, and he marvelled that she could look so innocent at a time like this. She was so beautiful…he could hardly believe he had nearly given her up. Lowering his head, he kissed her again, slowly, a gentle exploration. But this time it was she who did not let the pace remain slow. Her hands were on him, and a year of marriage had taught her just what to do to get to him.
His breath hissed between his teeth as he inhaled, then he chuckled lightly, though it was perhaps a bit shaky, pulling away to trace the path down to her breasts once again, kissing a spiral pattern around the peak before finally taking it into his mouth. Rin gasped, her eyes closing, her hands moving to comb through his hair, holding him to her and at the same time pushing him away as the sensation became overwhelming. He finally moved, only to pay his attentions to the other breast, teasing that one to a stiff peak, and then moving to kiss her gently sloping stomach. He was slowly moving towards her center, but he never actually reached it, bypassing it instead. Her eyes opened when she felt his lips on her ankle. Eyes clouded with passion, she watched him as he moved up her leg, paying special attention to the soft skin behind her knee.
She tensed when he reached her thigh. He kissed slowly to the inside, coming so close to touching her there that she almost wept, as the ache he had aready created began to tighten.
"Sesshoumaru…" she breathed tremulously, and he gasped sharply. He was drowning. The gentle, pleading sound of her voice…she tasted so good. She smelled even better. Like flowers and rain and him. The pleasure…the satisfaction of smelling himself on his mate was indescribable. She was his. She was his. And he wanted so badly…
But he didn't. He moved back up to simply gaze at her, his own eyes rather glazed. "Rin," he murmured. "You are so beautiful…and you are so good. All those years, I ignored you, neglected you, declared again and again how much I despised humans, all humans…how much I didn't need them, didn't need you. I pushed you away more times than I can count. Why did you stay with me?"
She smiled gently, one hand moving to his forehead, and the other going to caress his cheek. Tears pricked her eyes when he closed his own and leaned into her touch. "Because, Sesshoumaru-sama," she used the name playfully, "because…I loved you, always, from the moment I saw you lying there, in my woods." Her eyes softened at the memory. "You looked so alone, and so sad, really…I wanted to take care of you. You were simply glorious, that's all. Marvelous, amazing, and wonderful. And it never changed. Because as cruel as you always tried to be to me, you never sent me away. You always protected me…and…your eyes were always kind when you looked at me."
He kissed her forehead, and then her lips, feather soft. "It was Tenseiga that took me to your forest, when it saved me that day. I wonder if, perhaps, it knew you were there…Rin, the sword saved my life…but you saved me from myself." He shook his head bemusedly. "Gods, I love you."
"I love you, Sesshoumaru," she whispered, arching again, pressing herself against him. She reached down to take him in her hand, caressing the tip with her thumb, earning herself a moan of appreciation, and then positioning him at her center. "Make me yours again."
He smiled, but there was nothing in it now but gentle affection. "You are always mine, Mate. Forever," he said as he entered her swiftly. She made a small, desperate sound as he did, letting her breath go slowly, the air trembling as it escaped. For a long moment, he simply held himself inside her, memorising the feel of her. But she would not let him be idle for long, and was soon pulling his face down to hers and shifting against him insistently. He couldn't hold back any longer.
His tongue warred with hers as he bagan to move inside her, long, slow strokes at first, but soon becoming faster as need took over. She began to whimper softly when he broke the kiss and buried his face in her neck. "Rin," he panted, like a plea for strength. "Rin, Rin, Rin…Please, Rin. I need you, Rin, I need you…"
"Sess…shou…ma…maru…" she nearly sobbed. Her hands were on his shoulders, her fingers so tight her nails left marks in his skin. As if through a dream, she could feel the rough bark of the branch on her back, but her soft skin was protected from injury be the kimono she still lay on. It had been a gift, of course, from her Mate. Even now, he protected her in some small way…
He was losing himself. She was trembling around him, pulling him deeper, and her scent was so strong he thought he might faint. His hands rested on either side of her head, the muscles of his arms were rigid as steel. He was not…going…to make it…
He sat up suddenly, bringing her with him, using gravity to push himself even deeper inside her, and lowering his head to kiss her shoulders, her neck, her breasts…he would not leave her behind…
She cried out louder, wrapping her arms around his head and holding him to her as tightly as she could. "Oh…gods…please…" she prayed for release, feeling that any more of this sweet torture would surely drive her mad. She was so close…
With one, final, sharp thrust, he threw her over the edge, and she went willingly, declaring her pleasure on his name.
But he did not leave her to drown. He followed her, letting himself go, spilling himself inside her. "Rin…" he ground out harshly. "Rin…I love you, I love you, I love you…" His words became a hoarse shout as pleasure overtook him.
She collapsed against him. He collapsed against the wide trunk of the tree, burying his face in her hair. "Oh, beautiful girl…" he panted.
She giggled, as he pulled her off of him, settling her comfortably in his lap and wrapping her in his tail to shield her from the chill of the early night air. "Well, that was…that was amazing. I think I like trees," she laughed breathlessly. Her fingers were caressing idle patterns on his chest.
"I think I like you," he replied, moving one long fingered hand from the top of her head to the base of her spine. The wicked claws were only gentle now. "And as much as I would like to stay here with you for the rest of the night, I think we had better go in to have our dinner before Jaken comes looking for us."
She made a face at the thought. "He would ruin the moment rather effectively, wouldn't he?" she said, reaching up to kiss him lightly under his chin.
"Yes," he chuckled. "Here," he said, reaching behind her to get her kimono, "we'll get you dressed and…" he trailed off when his hand met nothing but tree bark. He looked over her shoulder. It was…gone? He looked to the ground beneath them, and groaned. Yes, there it was and…there also…was his. He glanced behind him as if to be certain. There was nothing there but wood. He cursed fluently.
Then he noticed Rin. Her hand was over her mouth and she looked very much like she was trying not to laugh. He couldn't help it. He joined her, laughing lightly in that way that only he had, smiling ruefully and burying his face in her shoulder.
"All right, my lady, we'll leap down and get them, then get back up here as quickly as possible, hoping no one sees us."
"My dignity will be spared either way," she teased, snuggling farther into the fur of his tail.
"You are spoiled," he told her. But just the same, he kept her tightly in his arms as he went to fetch their clothes. By the time they were back in the tree and fully dressed, she was beginning to fade. "Tired, Rin?" he asked when her head drooped against his shoulder as they were walking back.
"Mmm…" she agreed thickly. "Ssss'all your fault, too."
"Yes," he nodded, smirking. He hefted her into his arms and she didn't protest, merely clutched at the folds of his kimono, rested her head against his chest and let out a great yawn. "How will you feed with me if you are asleep?" he asked in a gentle teasing tone.
"Wake m'up when w'get there," she mumbled, and then she was gone.
He laughed at her, pulling her closer to his body. He buried his face in her hair, inhaling her scent and…hold…there it was again. Something new, he had noticed it before but…it was stronger now, had been growing steadily stronger for days…But what…?
"No…it can't be…" he murmured. He closed his eyes, and concentrated…sifting through the many scents that surrounded her…and…there…It was. "It is," he said, smiling radiantly, and beginning to walk again. He would tell her in truth when they got back, and he woke her up. For now, the great inuyoukai Lord Sesshoumaru merely nuzzled her cheek, and whispered to his mate's sleeping form.
"Rin…we have a pup."
