Blood…
Darkness…
Rain…
That was all he could either feel or see… He could feel the rain pounding onto his body, the blood dripping off of his hands and chest as the rain washed it away. It was hell, he could see the area around him covered in darkness, and it was all he knew at the moment.
He heard a cry next to him, the sound painful to his ears as he walked towards it. His once determined filled eyes were now blank as he watched the women he loved dying on the ground in front of him.
Looking into her face, he noticed the redness of her eyes as she cried; the pale color of her cheeks as blood flowed from the wound on her abdomen. Kagome…
She tried to speak, but blood only poured from the corner of her mouth.
“Kagome…” kneeling down next to the now broken girl, Inuyasha cupped her face in his non broken hand.
He saw her smile sadly as she gripped her side. “I-Inu…” Her voice shaky as she watched his unshed tears in his eyes, he seemed dead to the world… “…Yasha-a… are you… okay?” She watched a tear slide down his dirtied cheek.
Slowly, making sure not to hurt her ripped open side, Inuyasha cradled the young miko in his arms as he rested his forehead against her own. “Kagome… I said I would protect you but… b-but…”
Kagome watched him cry in the last moments of her life. It was just so heartbreaking to see Inuyasha like this. Smiling softly, Kagome kissed his shivering lips, earning a scared gasp. “D-don't worry… asha…. I shall always-s watch over you…”
Inuyasha watched her close her still, even before death, beautiful blue eyes as she whispered `I love you' just before fading away.
His eyes widened, “No Kagome, NO! You can't go you… y-you can't…” Hugging the girl tightly against his chest, Inuyasha ignored the other pained voices of his still alive friends. You can't go Kagome… I need you… I need you.
“Inuyasha,” the hanyou didn't even flinch as Miroku said his name. Limping over to his friend, the monk put a hand to Inuyasha's shoulder. “She's gone… Inuyasha, there's nothing we can do.”
Screaming no, Inuyasha stood with Kagome in his arms as he walked to the now completed jewel a couple feet away. It ruined my life…twiceit killed the people I love now. Laying Kagome's dead body beside the jewel, Inuyasha kneeled to the ground as he glared at the jewel emitting a pure light. If Kagome hadn't have put herself in danger like she did you wouldn't be pure. It's your entire fault you stupid thing.
Watching with tear filled eyes from where she laid Sango gasped when she saw Inuyasha pick up the jewel. What is he planning to do? “Miroku…” Ignoring the unconscious Kilala and Shippo beside her and her dead brother that she had been crying over, Sango began to sit up.
The monk turned towards the exterminator for a second then back to Inuyasha, him too wanting to see what he would do.
“Miroku?”
Jumping slightly, Miroku began to limp his way to Inuyasha again. “Yes?”
There was a growing silence as Miroku and Sango watched the hanyou who stood over the young girl's body.
“Would it be selfish to wish for Kagome to be reborn in another world filled with happiness?”
Miroku cocked an eyebrow as he gripped his staff, trying to maintain balance. “Is that what you want to wish for? Someone else's happiness that died much younger than she should have?” That time he saw Inuyasha flinch, he hadn't meant it that way. “Inuyasha… if you are wishing for the happiness of another it is never selfish.” He saw the hanyou nod silently just before a bright glow emitted from his clawed hand.
“Than I'm going to wish for it.” I'm going to wish for the happiness that was taken away from you, my koi. He had never used that word in his life, but now felt like the right time.
Miroku and Sango watched Inuyasha emit a pinkish glow as he wished something silently.
Everything went white for a couple seconds before going black…
