Oh and I should have mentioned this earlier but the Saitama High School is an actual school in Japan and as for ages for the characters…Inuyasha, Miroku, Kikyou, Kouga are 19; Kagome, Houjo, Sango, Rin are 18; Sesshomaru is 21; Souta, Kohaku, Souten are 16; Kagura

Hey I know what you're thinking and you guys must hate me now. I know I haven't been very loyal to my fanfic but it's just that after that last update…remember the Major family issue well I had to deal with the loss of a loved one. I'm sorry it took me so long to update but I lost my story in the middle of all the chaos. But I'm happy to say I'm doing well now, I can't believe it has been a year. I kept looking at my unfinished fanfic and I want to finish it. Well enough of my blabbering on with the story…

Chapter 8:

He couldn't understand, why was his brother here of all places and why was he holding Rin so tenderly?

“What are you doing here and why are you holding Rin?” He asked curiously.

“This Sesshomaru does not need to explain himself to you.” He chuckled inwardly but his facial features were hard as stone. “Besides you weren't doing your job correctly.”

Inuyasha's eyes widened. He forgot to tell his brother that Kagome didn't know of his true form.

“What is he talking about Inuyasha?” A small voice inquired.

Before the baffled hanyou could come up with an answer his good for nothing brother interrupted him.

“He was suppose to be watching over my beloved Rin but that proved to be too much of a problem for him.” He stated coldly. Of course he knew his little brother was hiding his true identity from the miko but he didn't know why.

His musings were cut short however when the ground rumbled beneath them. `That's strange; I don't think that was an earthquake.'

Startled students stood on shaky legs as the ground rumbled again, this time making the whole school shake and a few students stumble. All of a sudden there was a sickening crack, the ground lifted as something or someone was starting to emerge from the surface not a few feet from Kagome and Inuyasha.

With one last sickening crack the ground exploded, green grass and soft soil sprayed everywhere; the explosion causing those nearest to it to fly a few feet backwards. Screams filled the air as the students ran from the fields, the few on the ground getting up quickly and following everyone else. Wiping the dirt from her eyes she looked towards Rin that was splayed out on her boyfriend, Sesshomaru obviously protected her from the brunt of the impact. Turning her head towards the nearby explosion, her sapphire eyes widened as she sucked in a breath. She realized what the other students had screamed about now. Standing in front of the two couples was a giant purple centipede demon.

A human looking woman's torso was attached to the disgusting fifty foot, scaly, purple body. Thousands of tiny insect-like legs moved in a creepy motion. Two thick strands of her long pitch black hair cascaded down the front of her bare chest covering her two small mounds. Elongated fangs dripped with poisonous saliva as she set her crimson orbs upon the two young women in front of her. One of them had the Shikon No Tama and she must have it.

“Where is it?!” The crazed youkai said with a hiss.

Rin and Kagome looked at each other, not knowing what the hell it was talking about. Sesshomaru and Inuyasha, however, knew exactly what it was looking for. `Damn it, but how could it be here. I searched both of them thoroughly.' Inuyasha thought in frustration. Then a light pink light caught his eye but before he could find the source of it, it was gone. `What is going on?'

“I had enough of waiting for you puny humansss. Give me the Jewel!” She screamed lunging at the first person she saw, Kagome.

Not even caring he was about to blow his cover, Inuyasha fought through the concealment spell. His silky waist-length locks flashing from midnight black to illuminating silver as two silky white dog ears appeared on top of his head. A fang peeked out over his bottom lip and his eyes took their normal golden color. Extending his claws he shouted, “Iron Reaver Soul stealer!”

His serrated claws cut the demon in half but she easily put herself back together. Sesshomaru was also transformed into his normal demon self and attacked the rampaging centipede with his ghastly green poisonous whip.

The two young women took refuge behind a nearby tree hoping everything would turn out okay. In all her miko training, Kagome hadn't the slightest clue at what to do in this situation; especially when she didn't have her bow and arrows.

“What do we do, Kagome?” Rin's shaky voice brought her back to the present situation.

“I don't know.” She said helplessly. “It said it wanted a jewel. Do you have a jewel, Rin?”

“No. I don't even know what it's talking about.”

`Could it be?' Kagome thought. “Could it be the Shikon No Tama?” She inquired looking at Rin.

Rin's eyes widened, it was only a legend right? Kaede-sensei, the one who helped them control their miko powers, had told them the story of Midoriko and the Shikon Jewel; she had said it was an ancient legend that dated back in the time of the feudal era.

“No it can't be, it has been gone for thousands of years.” She replied in disbelief.

A grunt was heard as Inuyasha was hurled into the tree they were hiding behind. Gasping, Kagome had enough of this. For some reason she felt a powerful urge to face this demon.

“Hey you crazy bitch, look over here!” She screamed, waving her arms frantically.

“What are you doing, you'll get killed!” Rin whispered hurriedly to her.

Kagome gave her friend a `don't worry about me' smile. Noticing she got the stupid youkai's attention she made a run for it.

The enraged centipede roared angrily and dove into the ground below making several rocks fly. Kagome looked behind her surprised that she had outran the demon but was shocked that she was wrong. The demon sprung forth again out of the ground and stared menacingly at her. A light pink glowed from Kagome's left side.

“I see it! It's mine, all mine.”

Inuyasha ran as fast as he could with his demon speed but was too late. The giant centipede towered over the defenseless woman. As he took a step forward, he saw the youkai swallow her whole. His eyes widened and for the first time in his life since his mother passed, a lone tear escaped. Letting himself go he felt his youkai take over. Bright golden eyes slowly started to bleed red as his silver locks became unruly. Fangs and claws elongated as two prominent violet marks showed his demonic heritage. Before he could completely transform however the centipede exploded and dissipated into ash.

Feeling the youkai in him start to disperse he wondered to himself, `What the hell…'

In the distance the young woman was engulfed in slime and stood on two shaky legs. She didn't know what happened. The last thing she remembered was very sharp teeth. Wincing she held her left side with her right hand, bringing it up to her face she realized she was bleeding. `Shit, I think that damned youkai's fangs had poison in them.' In her left fist she felt something round and smooth, knowing it was important she held it tight. Feeling faint she fell, falling onto something hard but soft. Opening her eyes weakly she saw a pair of violet flash into golden eyes. “Inuyasha…Shai?” She last said before darkness overtook her.

Thinking quickly he remembered that the centipede's fangs were poisonous. Seeing the injury on her left side, he sucked and spit out all the poison. He noticed her wound was an angry red and knew it was getting infected. Licking slowly with his soft tongue, he licked inside her wound tasting her sweet blood. Lapping up the last of the wound he smiled happy to see there was nothing left but a little saliva on her now smooth creamy skin. Sweating profusely at almost losing her, he held her close. Her breathing was light and calm letting him know she was resting. Looking up he saw his brother with nothing more than a scratch on the side of his neck that was quickly healing before it disappeared.

“Now she knows who you are Inuyasha, what are you going to tell her?” He questioned stoically.

“Keh, I'll think of something.” Picking her up bridal style, he cradled Kagome gently in his arms.

“You should bring her back to our mansion, I'll tell the others to meet us there.” He stated. Looking towards Rin motion towards his back she got the silent message.

After climbing atop her boyfriend's back she whispered, “Take care of her Inuyasha, she's like a sister to me.” A silent tear fell from her round brown eye and rolled down her cheek. Then without further notice, Sesshomaru leapt in the sky and disappeared.

Looking down Inuyasha couldn't help the small smile that graced his once worried features. `You stupid girl, you could have gotten yourself killed.' Cradling her into a more comfortable position he bounded off towards headquarters, never noticing how her left hand was white with a deadly grip around a small glowing pink object.

Ruby eyes watched the whole ordeal from above on her giant feather. The two dog demons failed to notice her. The attention focused on Mistress Centipede and their mates. It was strange how she exploded and turned to dust right after. Naraku will be pleased that she had finally spotted the Shikon No Tama.

I'm sorry it's not that long you guys and I'll try to make my next chapter longer and better. I know you've waited a long time and I'm truly, truly sorry. =( but hopefully you liked this chapter as much as I did writing it.
