A/N: This is a poem I wrote about a year ago from Inu-Yasha to Kagome. I finally decided to take if off the background picture I was using it for and decided to post it finally. (Normally poem titles are not italicized, but because the first line is the same as the title, I decided to break tradition and make a faux pas.)

Now That I Know You

Now that I know you

I know only you.

It seems strange when

You're not here.

Was it really so long ago

We were strangers?

Can't believe

All this time has passed.

Did it really flee

So quickly?

You've shown me things

I never thought I'd see.

You've made me feel ways

I never dreamed possible.

I've now learned

There's a place for everyone in this world,

A home.

I know I haven't always been the one

Most understanding,

Or saying the right words,

Or acting compassionate,

Or able to see the true beauty always around me-

Yet you do.

And with you,

I've become free.

I promise always to protect you.

As a rose has sharp thorns,

You have me.

Together we share a single red rose

Amidst the cherry blossoms

Strewn about us,

Like memories from long ago

That reflect a time

When I hadn't gazed upon

The beauty of love truly-

It's in your eyes.
