The sea breeze was cool and crisp as it blew on Kagome, lifting her hair in a black swirl and ruffling her skirt. She sat on the low wall that ran the length of the beach, separating it from the street. With a sigh, she contemplated just what exactly had convinced her that going on holiday with her family was a good idea. Sota had dragged their mother to the local video arcade and Grandpa was taking a nap. This resort was fairly empty, and there wasn't even anyone here her age to socialize with. At least the breeze was keeping her cool in this humid, July heat.

Suddenly, two hands were covering Kagome's eyes. Startled, Kagome gasped and lost her balance on the wall, falling backwards - right into the person who had startled her. He grabbed her arms before she could hit the ground, her legs still hanging over the wall.

“What are you doing here?!” Kagome exclaimed.

“I got bored waiting for you,” said InuYasha. “Is this holiday thing over yet?”

“You tracked me all the way from Tokyo?” said Kagome in astonishment.

“Keh! Ain't no place you can go that I can't track you,” said InuYasha dismissively.

Kagome struggled in his arms, and her legs fell off the wall. Before her arms, slick with perspiration, could slip out of his grasp, InuYasha picked her up and planted her on her feet. Huffing in exasperation, Kagome tried dusting the sand off her legs and straightening her clothes. An impatient frown curling his lips, InuYasha waited for her to tell him they could go back to the well. Instead, Kagome glared at him and stalked away.

“Come on, Kagome,” said InuYasha, walking quickly to catch up with her. “When are you coming back?”

“This is the first holiday I have taken with my family since I first fell down the well,” said Kagome, not looking at him as she continued walking. “I told you when I would be back already.”

“Well, I am not going back without you,” said InuYasha defiantly, “so I guess I am on holiday too.”

That made Kagome stop suddenly in her tracks, and InuYasha almost walked past her. She looked at the ground, clenching her fists. Well, at least she would have some company. With a sigh of defeat, she looked up into his expectant face.

“All right, InuYasha,” she said. “I guess you can stay in Sota's room. Let's go inside, I need a cool drink.”

They went inside the rented, seaside bungalow, and Kagome got them two cans of lemonade out of the refrigerator. As they stood in the kitchen, drinking, they heard the front door opening.

“InuYasha is here!” said Sota in a pleased, surprised voice as he walked in the kitchen.

“Oh my,” said Mrs. Higurashi, coming in behind him. “Did you come all this way from Tokyo?”

“No problem,” said InuYasha, shrugging. “I travel fast.”

“Well, I guess you'll be staying then,” said Mrs. Higurashi, clasping her hands in front of her.

“Can he share Sota's room?” asked Kagome.

“I don't see why not,” answered Mrs. Higuarshi. “There is a futon rolled up in the closet he can use. I'll go see to it.”

“Hooray!” said Sota. “We can stay up late and tell ghost stories!”

The hanyou rolled his eyes and then looked at Kagome, who smirked wickedly back at him. It was his decision after all to stay. He would just have to put up with Sota.

“Is everyone back?” said Kagome's Grandpa with a yawn as he walked in the kitchen.

Seeing InuYasha there, Grandpa stopped short and gaped.

“What are you doing here?” he said in consternation.

“Yeah, great to see you too,” said InuYasha sarcastically, giving him a scornful smirk and crossing his arms.

When Mrs. Higurashi had finished preparing the futon for InuYasha in Sota's room, she came down and found them all sitting in front of the television. Kagome was absently fanning herself with a magazine, while InuYasha lay on the floor, his head in his hands looking bored. Grandpa was sitting on the couch and Sota sat cross-legged next to InuYasha. This would not do. They were on holiday, they should be having fun. Thinking for a moment, she came up with an idea.

“Let's have a cook-out on the beach tonight!” said Mrs. Higurashi in delight.

“Cool, Mom!” said Sota. “Can we have a big bonfire?”

“I think a small camp fire will do,” said Mrs. Higuarshi.

“Keh,” said InuYasha dismissively. “Some fun. We have a campfire every night back in my time.”

“You decided to stay here,” said Kagome, “so you shall participate in the cook-out tonight.”

“Whatever,” said InuYasha with a sigh.

That night, everyone gathered on the beach. InuYasha and Sota made the campfire, while Kagome and her mother brought out trays of chicken yakitori and beef sukiyaki to cook. Grandpa took it upon himself to go into town and return with several bottles of sake. It was still fairly humid out, but the breeze kept them some what comfortable. There was a full moon rising, and it left a lovely reflection on the water. The beach was empty except for them.

Grandpa made everyone one except Sota drink sake with him. At first, Kagome and InuYasha only sipped it, but soon they found themselves drinking more as Grandpa regaled them with his long-winded stories. They put Sota to sleep.

“I better get him inside,” said Mrs. Higurashi. “Can you help me, InuYasha?”

With a grunt, InuYasha got up and gently lifted Sota. He followed Mrs. Higurashi inside, and placed him in his bed. Mrs. Higurashi gave her son a kiss on the cheek and then turned to InuYasha.

“Thank you,” said Mrs. Higurashi. “Why don't you go out and rejoin Grandpa and Kagome? I will stay inside with Sota.”

“I really don't want to listen to any more of the old man's stories,” said InuYasha, “but since Kagome's still there, I'll go.”

As he came into view of the firelight, Kagome looked up at him with weary patience. She was glad he had returned. Listening to her Grandpa's stories was even worse when she was alone with him. No one she might share the monotony with.

“Did I tell you about the holiday we are celebrating?” said Grandpa. “Ocean Day was created to mark the day the Emperor Meiji returned from a boat trip to Hokkaido in 1876.”

As InuYasha sat down next to Kagome with a groan, she poured him some more sake.

“If you drink more, it's easier to take,” Kagome whispered.

“Keh,” said InuYasha. “Give me a whole bottle then.”

Before they knew it, InuYasha and Kagome had consumed quite a bit of sake, and so had Grandpa. They started to giggle at the old man, but he was too drunk and involved in his tales to notice.

“Poor old Grandpa,” said Kagome. “He has no life outside of these stories and the Shrine gift shop.”

“Too bad we can't introduce him to Kaede-baba,” said InuYasha. “The old hag and the old geezer could use the company of people their own age.”

This made Kagome laugh even harder, and she doubled over where she sat. InuYasha watched her and grinned foolishly. Suddenly, he noticed something. The constant babble had stopped. Looking up he saw that Grandpa had passed out, snoring loudly on his back.

“Hey, we're free,” said InuYasha, standing up.

That is when he felt the full effect of the sake and he swayed back in forth in the fire light. Kagome looked up at him with a mischievous grin, the light shining in her eyes giving her a devilish look.

“You can't catch me!” she said, and jumping up unsteadily, she ran-staggered away.

“Oi, wench,” said InuYasha, “I sure as hell can catch you!”

The hanyou ran after the miko, but he was hampered by the alcohol in his system. They staggered back and forth, laughing madly and kicking up sand in each other's faces. Finally, InuYasha made a grab for Kagome and caught her, but his momentum took them tumbling down and they rolled into the surf. They came to a stop, soaking wet. InuYasha lay on top of Kagome, and they looked into each other's faces, panting and surprised.
The alcohol was doing funny things to InuYasha. If he had ever been in such a position with Kagome when he was sober, he would quickly roll off her, blushing. Instead, as he looked into her eyes full of light from the stars and moon, he had an uncontrollable urge to kiss her. It seemed Kagome realized this, licking her lips and tilting her face slightly towards his. Closing his eyes, he gently lowered his face to her and kissed her sweet lips. They tasted like sake, and as he kissed her harder, her lips parted under his. Slipping his tongue against hers, it was like they were sharing the alcohol they consumed. A heat rose in InuYasha, and he could not control grinding his hips against hers. She moaned into his mouth as she felt him get hard against her, and parted her legs.
Hearts beating wildly, Kagome and InuYasha stripped out of their sodden clothes. The waves lapped at their naked bodies. InuYasha bent and kissed Kagome's neck, and she arched up underneath him. Then he slowly licked her, starting at her collarbone and moving down to her breasts. Taking a nipple in his mouth, he tasted the salty sea. Of their own accord, his hips were moving, stroking Kagome's inner thighs with his erection.

As InuYasha came back up to kiss Kagome's breathless mouth once more, his erection pushed up right between her legs. They both gasped and stopped moving, looking at one another. To his surprise, Kagome raised her legs and wrapped them around his hips, pulling him in harder against her opening.
“What are you doing?” InuYasha whispered in astonishment.
“You know what I am doing,” Kagome whispered back.
“You want me too…” said InuYasha uncertainly.
“Yes, I do,” said Kagome, and pulled on his hips harder with her legs.
“Ohhhhhh……” InuYasha breathed, closing his eyes as he pushed into her slowly.
InuYasha could feel Kagome's body fighting against his, but he knew this was a natural reaction. She made little gasps and moans, and he stopped to kiss her and let her adjust. When he felt her relax some around him he continued, and soon he was totally sheathed inside her.
“Don't be afraid of hurting me, InuYasha,” said Kagome softly. “Please move inside me.”
At her words, InuYasha let go and let his instincts overtake him. He started to thrust in and out of her at an increasing pace, listening to Kagome gasp and moan underneath him. He was not sure if she was enjoying it as much as he was, but soon it would be over.
“Uhhhhhh….Kagome,” InuYasha moaned as he came inside her, the feeling exploding inside him with an ecstasy he never could have imagined.
Kagome shuddered against him, and then drew him down close to her. She nestled InuYasha's head against her neck and wrapped her arms around his shoulders. He panted against her salty skin, relaxed and content like he had never felt in his life. The waves lapped against their heated bodies, cooling and refreshing them.
“Now this holiday has become one to remember,” Kagome whispered happily in his ear, and smiled.
