Chapter 2: Kagome

Kagome has long raven hair with red streaks, ocean blue eyes with flecks of silver and gold. She was always an outcast, but she still had lots of friends. Her friends are the winds, oceans, mountains, and trees. You see she can talk to them but, she still gets lonely even though she would never admit it. Having trees and mountains for friends are definitely not the same as having human friends.

It had been another boring day, with pretty much nothing to do. Kagome had been talking to the wind to see if anything interesting was happening elsewhere. Also, she just liked the feeling of talking to the wind. It felt like she was the wind whipping through the air and could go fast or slow, up or down, or even across the country if she wanted to. When she talked to the mountains she had a deep feeling of wisdom and might. When she talked to the trees, (mostly the ancient ones), she also felt a deep wisdom. And when Kagome talked to the ocean she felt powerful and smart. There is one feeling she feels with all of them though. That feeling is freedom. She felt free when she talked to her friends. She didn't have to fit in or follow any rules. That was one of the things she loved about her friends, they set her free.

There seemed to be nothing going on anywhere, so Kagome decided to visit her friend, the old oak tree, in the ancient forest. It was a long walk to the tree, but she loved being in the forest. Kagome loved how the trees were constantly whispering around her. She found it very comforting. Also she loved how the trees' branches seemed to dance with the wind, like they were one.

Kagome saw the small clearing up ahead, signifying that she was half-way there. She took a short break in the clearing and listened in on the conversation going on between Northern Wind and Sora (an ancient Red Pine tree). She was very surprised by what she heard.

Kagome was in deep thought the rest of the way to the old oak tree. When she reached the deepest part of the forest were her friend lived she shook her head to clear her mind of the…odd conversation that kept on repeating over and over again. She would, forever, remember the words spoken in the conversation between Northern wind and Sora. Now, Shakira wished she had never listened in, in the first place.

As Kagome approached him, he could tell that something was bothering her. The aura surrounding her was very worried and a little scared. He was worried now too. He knew that if she was worried, that something was very wrong. He felt her lightly press her hands onto his trunk, and felt her aura become almost one with his.

As Kagome walked up to Kouyuu, she felt his aura reach out to hers and intertwine with it. She brought her hands up, and lightly pressed them against his trunk. She felt their auras almost become one and knew that they were now, surrounded by a dark blue light which stood for their auras. When she connected with the winds, their auras became a yellow color. When she connected with the mountains, their auras became a green color. And when Shakira connected with the oceans, their auras became a silver color. Also when she connected with two elements of nature at the same time, the color of the two different auras swirled around each other (remember there are only two auras because hers becomes almost one with both of them).

“What troubles you Kagome?” Kouyuu asked.

She was just about to answer him when he suddenly burst out,

“Shhhhhhh! Do not speak. It appears we have an audience.”

She removed her hands from his trunk and turned around to survey the surrounding forest. She was about to turn back toward Kouyuu when suddenly, out of the corner of her eye she saw something black sticking out from behind another tree.
