"………and that is supposedly the greatest power on this earth, ever greater than the legendary tetusigia." Finished a middle-aged woman with long black hair and kind light brown eyes. She glanced at her two identical students who, she was less than pleased to see were juggling turn-ups between each other. She new how to get their attention though, after all she had been forced to practice getting their attention since their fifth winter.
"Oh, Konnichiwa Megumi-chan, how are you today?" she called as she looked at an imaginary person behind her two students, who immediately dropped the turn-ups when they heard the name Megumi. The glanced at each other, than one word escaped from their mouths at the same time. "Okaa-san………" The turned around to face the doorway, when they did they found that there was no one there. They turned back around to see their teacher smirking at them.
"Alright, now that I have your attention, I would like to know what I was just talking about." She said as her gaze shifted between them.
"Well………" started Kagome. `What could she have been talking about, think Kagome, what did she give us to study, it had something to do with a legend,' the girl with bright gray-blue eyes, and full, long black hair thought franticly. She grabbed the sleeve of her kimono nervously, as she stared down at her lap. Her eyes began to follow the patterns of sakura tree and it's blossoms on her midnight blue kimono. "Um……… you were talking about……… about the legendary tetusigia, weren't you?" Kagome finished, glancing at Azumi nervously.
"That's half right," Azumi told her, half in annoyance, and half in amusement. The she turned her eyes on Kikyou, Kagome's identical twin sister. "Kikyou, do you know the other half of what I was saying?" She asked the second of her two students.
Kikyou glanced at her sister for help. She was plenty smart on her own, but she hadn't been paying attention, and Kagome had always been good at multi tasking, meaning, she could normally play during class, and still have a pretty good idea of what was going on. She glanced at her sister's lap who was hastily panting the characters for `legendary' and `power' on a small peach of paper.
"You… um, where talking about the great legendary power of……… um……… of the tetusigia, but theirs a legend of a power even greater than that, so you where talking about the difference in their powers………" Kikyou guessed hopefully, half remembering the scrolls she had read yesterday. She started to twiddle her thumbs in her lap nervously as she waited for her sensei to say some thing. She let her long raven hair fall over her shoulders as she clutched onto her dark blue obi.
`It's was quite funny how Kagome and I always managed to dress exactly alike, except in different colors.' She thought, letting her mind wonder. There was a lot of truth in her thoughts though. Her kimono was golden and it was embroidered with a nadeshiko blossom tree. Where as Kagome's was a midnight blue color, and had a sakura blossom tree embroidered on it. Her obi was a deep solid violet, and Kagome's was a light powder pink. Ever since they where little, they had always worn contrasting colors, except of course, when they dressed in the clothes of a Miko. She supposed that the colors simply reflected their personalities. Though, most of the time their personalities were so similar no one but their mother could tell them apart.
Their grandfather always made a big deal out of every thing though. According to him every thing had a history, or a meaning. He said that each color has a meaning, which could decipher a persons future if their eyes were that color, or the always wore that color, or something. She could really remember what they were supposed to mean though.
"Hey, Kagome-chan, what did Ojai-sama say about colors deciphering someone's personality again?" Kikyou asked her sister. Both were once again ignoring what their teacher was saying. Kagome glanced at her, "Not really, why do you ask?" She asked as she glanced at her curiously. "Just thinking." Kikyou responded. "Thinking about Ojai-sama's old stories, mou, you really must be board." She responded, unconsciously putting a finger to her chin. "Demo," she started starring at her sister in fake seriousness, "don't ask Ojai-sama, other wise, well be listing to some ridicules story until the sun leaves the sky, and the moon is high." Kagome finished and began to giggle, Kikyou joined her, but as fate would have it………
"Did someone say my name?" Asked an old man with a gray topknot, and black eyes which had fixed on his granddaughters.
Kagome and Kikyou glanced at each other and then back at their grandfather. It was so unfair that he just happened to walk in, `This is probably the Gods way of punishing us from not paying attention,' both sisters thought. `There is no way that this could get any worse,' Kikyou thought as she glanced between her smirking teacher, who unfortunately knew how to get them back for not paying attention, and her grandfather, who was looking at them curiously.
`Where is a demon attack when you need one?' Kagome thought, as she too glanced between her grandfather and sensei. Her grandfather, Higurashii Hiroshi, noticed the sloppy characters that still lay on her lap though, and wasted no time in beginning his usual stories.
"So, you where asking about legends?" He began, his gaze shifting form Azumi-sensei to his twin granddaughters. Kagome was about to answer, but Azumi-sensei beat her to it. "Actually, Kikyou-sama was asking Kagome-sama to re-explain your previous lecture on the meaning of colors." She said sweetly as she glanced evilly at Kagome and Kikyou.
Azumi had been teaching them since there fifth winter, and knew them as well as their mother. She knew how much they hated their grandfather's stories, and she also knew that securing that they would get another one was the perfect revenge. She had used it before, but for some reason she was particularly enjoying it today.
"Ah…" Higurashii-sama started, as he put his right finger in the air and his other hand behind his back. He put a serious expression on his face, and continued, "Hai, each color has a different meaning. A persons eye color can detriment there future, and if a person wears the same color constantly, than that can reveal part of ones personality. It's quite an interesting concept really, for example: Kagome-san, your eyes are a gray-blue color. Gray means that your future will hold great challenges that will decide your destiny. Blue means that you will have a strong soul, and a great power with in you, which will be necessary to accomplish the challenges of your future. And Kikyou-san, your eyes are a brown-gray color. Like Kagome-san you will face great challenges in your future, which will decipher your fate. The brown means that you have an unclear potential, a great power as well, however it's different form Kagome-san's. Kagome-san, you often were blue and pink silks, blue shows that part of your personality is the virtue of strength, as well as honor, wisdom, elegance, and magnificence. Pink describes the other part of your personality; it shows the virtues of love, kindness, honesty, serenity, and curiosity. All of these are honorable virtues, however they show that you don't think pride is more important than honesty, an interesting trait indeed. Kikyou, you however, seem to favor the colors of violet and gold. Violet shows the virtues of pride, knowledge, elegance and magnificence. Gold shows that your personality also consists of strength, power, kindness, (thou only to those you chose), love, and interestingly enough, a touch of hate. These as well are honorable virtues, this makes since, because after all, you two are the awaited ones. Now back to colors, say if your eyes Kagome suddenly turned Green, that would mean…" He was cut off however, because the sounds of battle horns were heard, and that meant only one thing: a demon attack.
Kagome and Kikyou leapt up immediately, with big goofy smiles on their faces. They each glanced at each other, nodding their heads at the same time, and quickly ran to the corner of the hut to grab their bows and arrows. Kagome slung her arrows over her shoulders, and grabbed her bow, Kikyou followed suit right behind her. And they ran out of the hut. The sight they saw was not what they had expected.
An entire pack of wolf demons were terrorizing the village. In the distance they saw that a hut had been lit on fire, and the fire was quickly spreading. Children were running everywhere, the men and woman who where near to weapons hut quickly grabbed wooden kanakas, bows and arrows. They attempted to shout the demons, but little were successful. Small children where running towards them, for demons new not to mess with the young priestesses. However, these demons didn't seem to know that Kagome and Kikyou could shout a flea a kilometer away.
Kagome began to shout her arrows, and they hit every demon that she aimed for, however Kikyou had dropped her bow. Kagome turned to her sister, to see that she had sunk to her knees, and had tears in her eyes. Her sister's gaze was locked on one demon, and the woman that he had just slain. Kagome followed her gaze. And she too sunk too her knees. But unlike her sister, she let her tears fall freely.
"NO! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOO!!! OKAA-SAN, OKAAAAAAAAAAA-SSSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" Kagome screamed as she pounded her hands in the dirt. The dirt flew onto her face, but she didn't care. Her hair became messy, and her kimono was ruined. She continued to scream and pound her hands into the dirt. She was so involved in doing this that she didn't notice the glowing light around her, or the symbol that had appeared on her forehead.
Kikyou was glowing to, but not in the same silver-white color as her sister, but in a silver-black color, her eyes became blank, and she raised form the ground, as she picked up her bow and arrow. She quickly shot the arrow, which was now surrounded in the same black color. She grabbed Kagome's hand and pulled her up still starring and the now dead demon. Kagome looked at her sister, and saw that her eyes were different; they were emotionless, cold, and uncaring. They sot only revenge, cold merciless revenge. She also saw the shape that had appeared Kikyou's forehead; it was the character for the virtue hate. It was burning black, and Kagome knew that her sister would never be the same again.
Never………

Konnichiwa Minna-san,
I know it's kind of slow, but it'll get better. For any Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon fans, the forehead symbols aren't like the ones in Sailor Moon, sorry. The chapters will get longer too. I'm glad some people like it. I know that Kikyou's very OCC at first but I think that before she spent 50 years in hell she was a good person, sort of anyway. I'll post the next chapter as soon as possible, demo I write my story chapters on inspiration, and reviews inspire me, so the more reviews I get the soon I up date.
Jupiter's Light: I'm gland that you love it. When I post this you'll probably still be online, because I just got your review, on my e-mail. I'll try to up date soon.
Like Anyother: It is a little confusing at first, but it will be easier to understand later. I like to draw things out though, so there will be a lot of mystery in this fic. My other story doesn't have quite as much (at least I don't think so.) I'm glad you like it though. I'm not telling if Inuyasha chooses Kagome, demo what idiot rights Kikyou/Inuyasha stories? (hint hint.) It would be interesting to practice archery with Kikyou, or, for that matter, Kagome. Kikyou in the beginning of this chapter is kind of OCC, but she gets, um… not so nice later, that's understandable though. I'll try to up date soon. Ja ne
