Chapter 19 – First Date

Technically, it wasn't a bad plan: tell him everything after the wedding.

But plans, when it came to Kagome, never turned out as easy as they seemed.

Every time she was with InuYasha that horrible feeling began building in her stomach…and when they werealone, it was that much worse.

"Hey Kagome," InuYasha whispered as she decided to gather a couple study materials.

She received the privilege of scrubbing in on one of the most extreme procedures out there, and she was also the only general surgeon in the room, so if things went wrong, she had to be on the top of her game.

She turned back to look at him a moment, before going back to gather her materials, "hey."

InuYasha, who was in a rathergreatmood, couldn't help but notice how Kagome wasn't. "Okay, what's wrong?"

He hated himself for even asking. He didn't want to think that maybe she thought that they had made a mistake when he clearly believed otherwise.

She stuffed a couple more articles in her book bag, "Nothing. I am just busy with studying. Why?"

She asked as she turned towards him.

"So, everything is fine?" He asked again.

"Yes, everything is fine," she told him with a smile, and then she walked ahead of him into the bathroom, but InuYasha just stood there a moment, knowing that the smile she just gave him was fake.

"Today?"

He smiled, "yes, today. We can't tomorrow, and it's not like I can go back on my promise."

She thought about it a moment, "but I don't know if we will have enough time. We have to be at the rehearsal dinner at –"

He placed his finger over her lips, "just trust me. Will you?"

She looked at him and knew, no matter how awful she felt that trusting him was the one thing she knew she could do.

She nodded her head, "okay, but what do you have planned?"

He shook his head, "it's a surprise."

Kagome couldn't help but smile at him.

Ariana looked at InuYasha, "really?"

InuYasha smiled at her, "you have to promise not to say anything," he told her as he pressed a finger against his lips.

Her eyes widened as a smile came to her face, "Okay!" and then she zipped her lips closed.

"So, is everyone ready to go?" Kagome came in dressed in some skinny jeans and a black v-neck shirt, with small diamond studs in each ear.

InuYasha winked at Ariana.

Ariana nodded her head and then started coughing.

Kagome looked at her worried, "Ariana, are you okay?"

Ariana shook her head, "I don't think I am feeling so good."

InuYasha put his hand on her head, "she might have a little fever."

Kagome's eyes widened, "Oh no!"

She looked at InuYasha, "we might have to cancel the family day."

"No!"

Kagome looked back at Ariana, "baby, you can't go anywhere if you aren't feeling well."

Ariana shook her head, "I can stay with grandma. You go out with daddy."

Kagome felt a blush cross her cheeks, "go out with daddy?"

She looked at InuYasha, who just lifted his shoulders.

She looked back at Ariana, "are you sure? I can stay with you. I need to make sure you are feeling better before tomorrow."

Ariana leaned close to Kagomes' ear, "I want you and daddy to have alone time."

Kagome felt a blush align her cheeks as she looked at InuYasha.

"I will feel fine tomorrow, mommy. Go out with daddy," Ariana said as she pushed them out of the door.

"We are leaving Mrs. Higurashi," InuYasha announced when they were next to the door. "Ariana is going to stay here."

"Okay, you two have fun," Mrs. Higurashi replied back, and then they were pushed the rest of the way out the door.

"Okay, you are going to have to trust me," he told her as he put the blindfold on her.

Kagome just had an overwhelming awkward feeling. Getting blindfolded was not something that sheeverhad in mind.

"Are you going to trust me, Kagome?"

He asked her with a smile once the blindfold was on all the way.

Kagome took a deep breath, "yes, I will trust you. Just hurry up and get there."

He turned on the engine and then headed to their destination.

He laughed, "So?"

Kagome turned towards the sound of his voice, "so?"

"What, shouldn't you be afraid that I am going to drive you into a lake or something?"

Kagome felt her breath leaving her lungs, and then she immediately tried to get the blindfold off.

InuYasha placed his hand over hers, "I am just messing with you."

Kagome sighed loudly, "That is the worst way possible to mess with someone."

He laughed, "You are probably right."

"So, you should definitely talk about something else, because now… all I can think about is that you are trying to drown me in a lake."

He laughed, "Okay, well, what do you want to talk about?"

She lifted her shoulders, "We can play twenty questions."

He smiled, "what is it with you and these kid games?"

She gaped at him, "hey, I didn't have time for stuff like that as a child," she told him as she crossed her arms over her chest.

InuYasha shook his head, "okay, we can play twenty questions. You start."

Kagome pointed to her chin, "Okay, let me see… oh, if you could go anywhere where would you go?"

InuYasha looked dumbly at her, "you are really using a question for that? I thought we were going to ask some deep stuff?"

Kagome hung her mouth open, "hey, it is my turn, and I can ask whatever stupid questions I want, so," and she stuck her tongue out at him.

He rolled his eyes, but then he looked at her, and smiled, "you know… I wouldn't want to be anywhere else in the world but here."

Kagome felt her face blush.

He laughed, "and that is why."

"InuYasha!"

"Okay, so it's my turn," he replied, trying to distract her from being upset with him. "If you… could do anything differently, would you?"

She was silent for a few moments that InuYasha began wondering if maybe she fell asleep. "Kagome?"

"I – I don't think I would change anything, since all the choices I have made up until this point have lead me here."

InuYasha nodded his head, "true. Okay, your turn."

Kagome scooted herself in her chair, "Okay," she felt her face flush, "how many people have you been with?"

InuYasha looked at her with wide-eyes, "whoa, that is a little personal."

Kagome lifted her shoulders, "it's an all things go twenty questions."

He took in a deep breath, "Well, if you ask anyone else… it would be like a hundred, but the number is a lot closer to seven."

Kagome turned to face him, of course her eyes were still covered, "only seven?"

He laughed. "The way you say that makes me feel like it is a bad thing."

Kagome shook her head, "its not that… it's just… I pinned you way higher."

"Well thanks for thinking so highly of me," he replied sarcastic.

Kagome smiled, "okay, it is your turn."

InuYasha nodded his head back and forth, "okay, well since you took it personal, I am going to take it awkward…what would be the perfect way for a guy to tell you that he loves you."

Kagome felt her face heating up, "you are right. You turned it awkward."

He chuckled, "it is what I do best."

Kagome scrunched up her nose, "I guess… it would be a song of how he felt about me. I always thought that guys singing to girls in movies were cute, and to think that a guy might be singing to me… yea… that would be perfect."

InuYasha nodded, "noted."

Kagome quickly looked to his side of the car, "what?"

He smiled, "what?"

She let out a deep breath, "okay, so it's my turn…"

"I am scared."

He looked at her, "it's not like you haven't done it before."

She looked at him, her cheeks a bright pink, "but you know that was different."

He took a deep breath, "I will be right here the whole time."

She nodded her head.

"Now, there will be a lot of shaking, but just hold tight unto me," he told her reassuringly.

She looked worriedly, "it won't last that long… will it?"

He laughed, "It will go by really fast."

Kagome looked at him. He could see the worry in her eyes, "tell me something to get my mind off of this."

He took a deep breath as his heart began beating erratically. He held her hand, "Will you be my girlfriend?"

She looked at him wide-eyed, and before she could say anything.

"AH!"

They went down the biggest hill on the roller-coaster.

The track bounced as they made their way to the bottom and through a loop.

InuYasha let out a large yell. He loved roller-coaster's. They were exhilarating, and Disney Land had some of the best ones.

He felt Kagome grip his hand tighter as they came to the second largest hill of the coaster, and he couldn't help but smile.

He knew that this was the best place to take her.

InuYasha reached for her hand, "so, is there anything else you want to ride?"

She blushed as she looked at their interconnected hands, not believing how he decided to ask her to be his girlfriend, but when it came to InuYasha, he always did things that were hard to believe.

"Um, do you want to ride anything else?"

He smiled at her, "how about the log ride?"

She widened her eyes, "but then we would get all wet."

He wagged his eyebrows at her, "all the better to make your clothes see through."

Kagome's eyes widened.

InuYasha just laughed, "it is so easy with you."

Kagome looked at him with her mouth hanging agape, "you were just messing with me… weren't you?"

He gave her a little innocent upturn of his shoulders, "you might never know."

She shook her head with a smile as she looked at her phone, "well, actually, we better head back, since we still need to change for the rehearsal dinner."

InuYasha slouched, "see; now you just went and ruined the good mood I spent all day trying to build."

Kagome only giggled at him as they headed back towards his car.
