The school bell rang in Kagomes class and she rushed down the hallway. Her large yellow back pack weighing her down as she tried to maintain her speed to make it before the second bell began to chime.

The day had started out off badly. Kagome had awoke ten minutes late, finding InuYasha looking at her school books. He had the most perplexed facial expression she had ever seen him adorn. She couldn't help but smile for a brief moment, until she remembered that she was behind her schedule.

InuYasha stared at Kagomes text books that she took so much pride in. What good did any of this do her? Atoms and electrons? How do they teach her the survival skills she needs?

He was taught nothing but how to read and write, and he managed. All of his lessons were ones learned from life.

Never to trust- Assume every one the enemy...

Never to get close to some one- They will hurt you, use you, deceive you...

Never fall in love- It brings upon nothing but pain and misery.

Kagome had made him break all the rules. She just did not seem to play fair. What power did she hold over him?

He could feel Kagomes eyes upon him, watching as he looked in wonder at the useless print. With in a moment, he felt her eyes shift to the alarm clock, and a sudden zeal was planted with in her.

Kagome sprang up from her bed, and held her alarm clock in disbelief. She then muttered a comment about the time, and rushed out of her room, only to come back in.

"Out." She demanded, standing over him.

"What?"

"I need to get ready for school. Out!" She stated once more."

InuYasha did not hesitate, he stood promptly and left the room.

Kagome went to her wardrobe and pulled out her school outfit. She dressed herself in her usual green skirt and matching green and white sailor suit top.

She then began to run a brush through her hair and parted it. Running the brush to one side, she sighed. She was never good looking enough to meet her own expectations.

InuYasha had walked down stairs to find every one seated around the table eating.

"Good morning InuYasha." Kagomes mother had cheerfully said.

"Morning InuYasha!" Souta exclaimed.

"Hey." He said, uncomfortable with the sudden attention.

"Is Kagome ready for school yet?" Her mother questioned.

" I don't know. She threw me out of her room."

A small smile graced her mothers lips.

"Of course she did! It is not proper for her to dress in front of you." Her grandfather offered.

"Would you like some breakfast InuYasha?" She asked, a cooking pan in hand.

"What is that?" He asked, curious to the strange looking food out held by the kind woman.

A distant patter was heard coming down the stairs.

"Sorry I'm late! I over slept."

Kagomes mother turned to her and gave her warm smile.

"Your just on schedule darling. Sit down and have some breakfast."

"Cant, I still need to get the notes at school." She said, swinging her back pack over her shoulders.

"Kagome you-" Her grandfather started, taking his nose out of his news paper.

"InuYasha, make sure you stay in the house. Understand?"

InuYasha was taken aback by her sudden force.

The miko glanced at the clock on the wall.

"I gotta go!"

And with that, all eyes upon her, she dashed out the door, running down the many steps making her way to school.

Kagome dashed down the hallways, and turned into her class, just as the bells chimed. She sighed in relief as she walked to her seat.

"Kagome!" Her friends greeted her happily.

"Hi guys." She said as she placed her back pack down on her desk.

"Your back in school! I hope that means your getting better."

"I hope so too." She said giving them a cheerful smile. 'But I wont be. I will be 500 years from you.'

Kagome opened her back pack, and looked inside with a horror stricken face. She had forgotten her books. Every single one of them. In their place was bags of half eaten foods, laundry and Shippos crayons and coloring books.

How could she have been so stupid as to forget her books? They were right there on her desk! She had looked at them. She swore inwardly to herself about how stupid she could be.

"Kagome, what's the matter?"

"Is there a live animal in there or something?" Her friends asked.

They looked inside, and was astonished at her contents. They pulled out some of the items.

"Kagome why do you have your clothes in here?" Eri asked.

"And half eaten food." Said Arimi in disgust.

"Oh! Look at these!" Squealed Yuko in delight. She held up Shippos book of his drawings. She flipped through the pages, and laughed as she admired the young artists talent.

"Who drew these Kagome? Surely not you..."

"No, no." She said. "Shippo drew them."

Three sets of eyes looked up at her.

"Shippo who?" They asked in unison.

"Shippo is-" Kagome started. How could she explain who Shippo was?

'Oh, hes a darling little kitsune who's parents died, and me and InuYasha now take care of. He try's to help in battle, but hes really learning.'

'That would go over great' She thought.

"Shippo is... a cousin. Yes! My cousin that comes over after school. I help my mother baby sit him."

Kagome smiled. Yet she was in awe. She had lied.

Lying was not something Kagome was used to doing. She rarely lied. And never to her friends. What was wrong with her? Had going to the feudal era really changed her that much?

Of course it had. When she looked at the world around her, she wondered how people could stand it. It was so busy, so loud. The air was thick and polluted and the people rude and arrogant.

The outfits that were worn, were far too short and revealing. She herself wore a mini skirt, but she did not wear anything quite like the girl her age did. She thought about how deeply Sango would blush if she were to see this, and how much Miroku would smile. She could see the scene played out in her mind. Every thing about those two was like clock work.

Suddenly thinking about them, she began to feel the sudden urge to leave school and see them. She missed them dearly. But above all, she missed InuYasha.

She felt as if she was leaving him for an eternity when she had to tell him to stay behind. she left her heart behind with him. It just didn't seem fair.

She looked at the boys her age, and none of them she found attractive. They were all naive, and young. Skinny, weak, and the only true bravery they held was in their confidence.

They were arrogant, and rude. But that was a character flaw every one had.

When Kagome thought about InuYasha, strong, beautiful, and above all... he was weak. He needed to be saved.

As far as lovers go, there are two kinds of people in this world. The super heroes and the savers. The super heroes were the ones to take away the pain of the savers, and in turn, rid themselves of their own pain, by helping another.

It would rarely work if two heroes were together.

InuYasha was the savers, and she the super hero. He needed her, to make every thing okay. He needed her... to make all his emotional wounds close up, so that he could recover, and the blows he would receive later on in life would not reopen the old.

InuYasha needed Kagome. Plain and simple as night turns to day, spring to fall, minute to hour.

"Kagome?" Asked Yuki, snapping a finger in front of her face.

"Are you okay Kagome?"

"Yeah, sorry, I guess I must have just zoned out..."

The teacher came in, and place his folder on his desk, and motioned all to sit down. They in respect did so, and all fell silent.

"Now class, please take out your number two pencil, and you may begin your test..."

The teacher moved to the board and picked up his red dry erase marker. He wrote down several directions, when there was a knock on the door.

The teacher turned his head toward the door, then followed to it, opening it widely.

"How may I help you?"

Souta smiled kindly at the balding man.

"My sister forgot these, may i give them to her?" He asked.

The older man smiled in turn.

"Quickly."

The young boy walked over to his sisters desk and placed the books down on the surface. His sisters cheeks were conveniently red.

Souta smiled cheerfully, and then added his farewell.

"Bye Kagome!"

Turning to the door, he greeted the teacher good bye, and walked out the door.

Kagome felt as if all eyes were suddenly upon her. She slumped a little in her seat, and focus her attention of the board. She watched as the teacher wrote down his directions, then flipped over her paper.

'This is easy! I know this!' She thought.

InuYasha sat in Kagomes room on edge. The four walls that surrounded her locked in her scent, and it was driving him mad. He opened the windows to try and free the enslaved aroma, yet it was persistent as ever.

He couldn't help but think about her. She was every where.

Her clothes in her closet all adorned her scent, her bed was full of her fragrance, her desk, her chair, every thing! And all it could do, was remind him that he missed her...

It was an odd feeling, one which he had never had to deal with until she came his way. Before, when he longed for something, it was always a physical pain, such as hunger.

But this... this was an emotional one, of the soul. And the only way he knew to cure it, was away taking tests.

InuYasha slouched down by Kagomes bed.

Why couldn't he get her off of his mind?! It was almost infuriating to him, at how much control she held over him, and yet, she wasn't even aware.

What had changed between them? Had they really shared a kiss? Or was it all a dream. Nothing seemed real.

The hanyou looked at his hands His claws tainted with the scent of blood from both the guilty and innocent were engraved there. He was a monster, a disgrace... How could she ever love him?

She was the most purest, beautiful, honest being he had ever met, ever seen... She was a goddess... She was everything.

And yet, she was not truly his. No, not on how he acted.

What was she to do when the last fragment was collected?

Go back to her own time? Forget about all that she had back in his time? How easily could she forget him?

Would she go to school, have a family and a home. A mate...

All of a sudden, InuYasha felt a sense of nausea, as his claws dug deeply into Kagomes carpet.

She would have no other mate.
