This is a sonnet inspired by a beautiful piece of fan art that I can't remember the artist of. My sister needed to write a sonnet and I helped her come up with the first two lines by looking at that picture. Then I couldn't help myself and wrote the rest of the poem. I hope you like it.

~ Our Quiet Twilights ~

When I think of the times that we were one

Together talking underneath the stars

Explaining mysteries like the midnight sun

Those times alone were really only ours

You put other things to rest for the night

You held me and we gazed up at the skies

I felt safe with your arms holding me tight

Our only companions were fireflies

Sometimes I wonder if you're even there

My imagination often runs wild

Tall and regal with long flowing white hair

Perhaps some made up dream of a small child

Then I think of how twilights used to be

I know that you were real enough for me
