InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Own up ❯ One night after one day ( Chapter 3 )
[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
Hey guys I'm sorry that haven't written in like forever. Summers starting though, so I should be able to write more. Not that I can promise anything. But I really will try. So anyway, Inuyasha doesn't belong to me, blah, blah, blah, blea, blea, blea. Here goes.
Chapter three- One night, one day
Kagome looked around. She was sitting in Sango's dorm room, which connected to her own. It was up three stories just like Inuyasha's. GA believed in having co-ed dorms. Just as long as everybody was in their own room by eleven thirty p.m. But everyone knew better than to do anything with Inuyasha on the loose.
Sango had invited a bunch of the girls over for a sleepover. Apparently this was a tradition. Sango said it was mandatory to attend if you ever wanted a boyfriend. Kagome didn't really understand but hey, at least she might be able to make some friends.
“Ayame?” Sango said questioningly as someone walked into her room. Ayame was a student at GA who had left for her junior year. But now she was back.
“Still room, Sango?” Ayame said with a smile. All the girls ran up to hug Ayame and she from all the attention. Then Ayame spotted Kagome sitting awkwardly against the bed.
`Must be new' she thought. “Hello? Who are you?” Ayame asked.
“Oh, uh, me? I'm Kagome. Kagome Higurashi.”
Ayame looked her up and down. “Ayame.” She pulled Eraka's arm from off of her shoulders and took a few steps closer to Kagome and the bed. Kagome pressed herself a little closer to the bed, scared. Ayame was a demon judging by the fluffy red tail and impossibly green eyes she sported. Other wise you wouldn't have been able to tell. She was wearing a black `Blink 182' band tank and tight jean capris. Still, she looked like she could snap Kagome in two.
Ayame looked over her shoulders to Sango as if to say “What's she doing here?” Sango, to Kagome's horror, shrugged. Ayame advanced a little more and Kagome pressed herself closer to the bed.
“Newbie.” Ayame said, dismissing her. She turned back to the rest of the girls who stood, except for Sango, laughing at how Ayame had scared the `newbie' so easily.
In Inuyasha's dorm room
The tension was still thick as Inuyasha glared murderously at poor Shippo who was shaking slightly next to his friends on the other side of the room.
Inuyasha's eyes were slowly turning red. Miroku stood up and put his hand on Inuyasha's shoulder, “Inu, dude, c'mon he was just joking.”
For a moment Miroku was seriously scared as Inuyasha turned to him with murderous glaring eyes. They turned red but the longer Inuyasha starred into his friend's face the more he calmed. Slowly, slowly, his eyes turned back to their normal amber. Miroku was right, he thought, Shippo was only joking.
He turned to Shippo with apologetic eyes, “Ship, dude, I…” he trailed off but Shippo smiled weakly. “No prob. Jus' don' do it again, kay?”
Inuyasha grinned widely and there was an almost tangiable air of relief as Inuyasha's mood was calm and friendly again.
Scar was just about to say something as shockingly, through the wall, a uniform and high pitched screach of “Ayame!” came from eth girls'
Most of the guys turn to Koga with smirks on their faces. “Karma” Miroku said sagely. It was Koga's fault for stealing Iniuyasha's old girlfriend, without permission even, that his old girl friend had returned.
The boys listened in to the girls conversation but they weren't saying anything. But then, a horrible smell reached the male demons' noses. Fear. Strong fear. Immediately Inuyasha knew it was Kagome.
`She only introducing herself. I can hear her. Why is she so scared?'. Laughter reached his ears along with the scent of relief, embaressment and dispair.
Inuyasha jumped up intent on running into the girls' room to see what exactly was going on for himself. But then he heard Kagome yell—
Sango's dorm room (again)
Kagome had never been so angry in her life. She had been fifty-two different schools, missed the last couple summer breaks, and hadn't had a single friend since her father died. She was not going to attend this school, the school she had worked so hard to get to, without a single friend because these total strangers decided she couldn't have friends because she was new. All the nerviousness, lonelyness, fright, confusion, and homesickness she had been bottling up since this morning flooded out of her as she stood up and walking over to Ayame.
“Why does everybody keep calling me that. Does it make you feel important? That you already know what the cafeteria food tastes like? You don't have to worry about making new friends or finding your way around a new building, do you? So you make new people feel left out. Should I wait a year to be friends with you? I don't know why anyone would want to be friends with people who exclude people just because they're new. Wasn't everyone in this school new at one point? I've been to fifty two different schools, moved up and down this country several times, and haven't had a friend for longer than two weeks since my father died to get into this school. And now some total stranger is going to tell me I can't have any friends because I didn't get here earlier?”
Both rooms, boys' and girls' were full of shocked faces. They had never thought of that before.
Kagome stormed out of Sango's room before anyone could say anything else. Inuyasha could smell the salty tears from where he was sitting.
Kagome's dorm
Kagome collapsed on her bed, crying. She couldn't believe this was happening to her. After everything, all the pain and tears, she wasn't allowed to make friends in the one place she was allowed to stay.
After crying for hours, Kagome fell asleep, dreading the next day when classes would begin.
Inuyasha's dorm
Never once in the history of GA had there been a co-ed meeting on the first night of term. Everyone was gathered in Inuyasha's dorm room for a meeting of the entire gang.
“What's her problem?” Ayame asked. She didn't see what this new girl had to be upset about.
“She was scared.” Said Shippo, sympatheticly from the corner. “What did you do to her Ayame?”
“Nothing.” Ayame shrugged. “I just spooked her a bit.”
“A bit. A bit?” Nakada said annoyed. “She looked liked she thought you were going to take her head off, Ayame.”
“C'mon guys, she was just teasing.” Koga said coming to her aid.
“Yeah.” Kikyo said “We all went through this.”
“That's not true.” Sango countered. “We didn't have crowds of people scaring us on our first day.”
“So? She's a big girl!”
“That's so mean. How can you say that?”
“How can you defend her? You don't even know her!”
“I didn't even get a chance to, with all of you scaring her off.”
“Personally, she looked like she would have made a great friend.” Miroku said.
“How would you know?” Kikyo spat.
“Shut up!” Inuyasha yelled. “All of you, shut up!” he had a headache and nose could still smell Kagome's tears. “Now, Kagome did yell at Ayame but Ayame did scare her pretty badly. She smelled like she thought Ayame was going to murder her.” He looked around at them all. “She was right. We are too hard on newbies.” He stood up, “When was the last time you went to fifty two schools? Or never had a friend longer than two weeks?” He began to pace “I want all of you,” The boys groaned because they hadn't done anything, “to find Kagome tommorrow and apologize to her. She walk with us to class, she will sit with us at lunch, and hang with us after school unless she turns out to be a total bitch.”
They all looked up at him. Never before had he been like this about someone, not even Kikyo.
“And I said tomorrow, not today. Don't just go knocking on her door tonight. And it must be done individually.”
Everyone nodded, feeling bad. “Now, get out. I'm tired.”
They all left. Sango stayed for a moment to say, “Inuyasha, you did good.”
Inuyasha nodded and hours later fell asleep, dreaming about a certain black haired girl.
