InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Own up ❯ The long awaited mall trip ( Chapter 6 )
[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
Hi all! One more chapter. Perhaps.
On another note this chapter is completely devoted to angel-up-above-heaven because it was their review that made me finish this chapter. I wasn't going to write but after seeing her review I thought “Well it is for my devoted reader so…why not?” so anyone reading this fic should write them a big thank you. I know I will.
Important note (sorry bout the font size) the asterisks means that there is an author's note at the end that corresponds to the # of asterisks.

Kagome woke up to the sounds of voices. She rubbed her eyes sitting up unwilling to completely leave to warmth and security of her comfortable bed. Sango bounced through the open door that connected their two rooms together.
“Kagome…” Sango sing-songed, “Wakey, wakey, rise and shaky.”
Kagome blinked at her friend instead of giving her a response. Sango's hair was perfect and shiny, tied up in a very high ponytail and still reaching the middle of her back in contrast to Kagome's which was messy, frizzy and was all over the place. Sango was fully dressed in a tight black tee shirt with a GA design on it with a pair of blue jeans with black converse while Kagome was still in her pajamas.
Sango looked and Kagome, surprised. “What are you still doing in bed? I woke you up and hour ago! We've got to go soon.”
Kagome had no recollection of being woken up an hour ago and by the guilty look in Sango's eyes she wasn't sure if Sango had actually woken up or had just meant to. She didn't even know where they were going let alone remembered being told that they were going anywhere.
Instead of arguing or questioning Sango she asked a rather unusual question. “When are we leaving?” she asked.
Sango blushed, “In half in hour.”
Kagome sat up straight in her bed with the expression of a person who had just had a nightmare, her mouth forming a little o-shape. Sango blinked in surprise as Kagome jumped up and seemed to bounce around the room, hitting the walls and even the ceiling.
Five minutes later Kagome was showered, dressed, and prepared to go to the mysterious destination. She was dressed in ballet flats, a knee length forest green skirt, a black v-neck three quarters top and a little lace cami underneath. Her hair was left down and reached the middle of her back. As she walked into Sango's room the energy the room gave off hit her full in the face. “I bet so many memories were made in this room,” she thought sadly, “so many laughs and jokes and stories; so many tears and hugs and fights; so many nail polish spills, shoves, and crumbs on the floor; so many things I never got to be part of and I never will.”
“Kagome?” A voice called her back to reality again. She had been so spaced out that she didn't even notice that there were a few more people in the room besides Sango and herself. The twins, Ereka and Atoka where using each other as mirrors fixing each others outfits and hair. Ayame was laughing at something that Kilala just said. They were sitting on the floor and Kilala was blushing but Ayame was in tears. Nakada and Kikyo where sitting on Sango's bed in silence, not looking at each other. It must have been Sango who had called her to attention.
“Huh?” Kagome said in confusion.
“Ready to go?” Sango asked. Kagome nodded still not knowing exactly where they were going. She had a vague idea but she hoped that she was wrong. Sango smiled as if she could read Kagome's mind and tried to get everyone out the door. “Guys! GUYS!” She called futilely. Even Nakada and Kikyo, who weren't talking couldn't hear Sango.
Kagome, growing more impatient by the millisecond yelled softly (I just mean that she wasn't really yelling but more like said it in a soft voice) “I, royal queen of asses command you to get yours in gear.”
Laughter filled the room and Ayame who was already laughing pretty hard fell over. They stood up, chuckling as Nakada gave Kagome a salute as they filed to the door with Kagome leading them in a march. Bleary-eyed Inuyasha and Miroku stared at them, confused.
The girls giggled but continued down the hall the stairway and walked to the parking lot. In favor of saving the world's ozone layer they decided to ride in just two cars. Sango drove Miroku's car with Kagome at shotgun. Nakada, Ereka and Atoka opted to ride with them in the backseat. The rest drove in Kikyo's Cadillac. Because demons are just that eco-aware.
When Kagome had come to GA she had driven with her entire family and directions from mapquest so she hadn't explored the city properly yet. Even as Sango pulled off the highway and onto the local roads Kagome didn't know where they were. She sat back in her seat listening to Oxygen by that artist who sings Bubbly. “Who knew that she actually recorded another song.” Kagome thought dully.
The two cars full of girls pulled up to place Kagome wasn't looking forward to going to; the mall. Kagome hadn't had a friend in a couple of years so she did all her shopping alone. She had seem girls shopping with their friends at the mall but mostly she avoided the place. Often she saw it on the T.V. and she knew that the place was full of unspoken rules. Don't say hi to people you don't know, dress to the store that you're going to, ignore small children and babies, ect. She didn't even get the rules at GA campus let alone off campus.
Sango grinned at Kagome's crestfallen face. The mall was huge with every imaginable store in it and some that aren't. Nakada grabbed one of her arms with a smile on her face and Ereka grabbed the other.
To Kagome the mall seemed huge and confusing to Kagome but it wasn't as bad as she thought it was be. The place was clean and inviting with lots of shops on all sides. A little ways off she could see a beautiful fountain that took her breath away. Water streamed like beautiful shining ribbons of diamonds. A statue of three children stood in the middle of the fountain with big smiles on their faces and holding hands in a circle. They looked like they could just jump down and join their parents but they completely white from the stone.
Sango saw were Kagome was looking and smiled. “C'mon.” she said to Kagome “We'll go shopping for awhile and then when we sit down I'll tell you about the Fountain of Unity.”
“Love stories.” Kagome thought briefly as she nodded and smiled. It wasn't that Kagome didn't like to go shopping. She was female, of course, but she had never gone shopping with other girls before.
The first store they all went to together was a store called R. Tii* (like Arty/ Artsy) which sold all sorts of artsy clothing based on color. Kagome's eyes got big as she entered the store. She was like a kid in the candy shop as she looked at all the clothes.
The rest of the girls laughed and the shopping began. Kagome was more of a mannequin than shopper as Sango, Kilala and Nakada threw clothes into her dressing room. She didn't mind though since everything they picked out was super-cute (this in guy language/ normal person roughly translates into cool or nice basically I mean that she liked them okay?). Sango picked out a red and black plaid skirt that had stripes of gold in it and a frayed hem. She also picked out a red polo shirt with black spirals running up the sides and another red skirt with lots of pleats in it**. Kilala and Nakada each picked out a couple of couple of t-shirts with phrases like “I'll try to be smarter if you'll try to be nicer…I mean….” Or “Haven't the police found you yet?”

4 stores and 12 shopping bags later Kagome, Kilala, Nakada and Sango were to have lunch. Sango promised Kagome the story behind The Fountain of Unity.
Food came first though so they decided to get some food from Sushi To Go*** for a delicious Sushi lunch to get and grab so they could eat by the fountain. Nakada said she had sushi for breakfast so she decided to get some food from WacDonalds.
