Passing Strangers

Summary: Passing glances made, two people go their own way.

A selfish wish leaves the people as passing strangers in another world.

Kagome walked the blood ridden battlefield. Her shirt was torn as was her skirt. She was bloodied to bad considering they had just fought and vanquished Naraku. InuYasha and the others were scanning the desolate land for any sign of the jewel when Kagome piped up.

“InuYasha” she called as she held up the completed jewel “ Look” Kagome jeered as she looked upon the tiny orb with curious consideration.

“Yea..... odd huh?” he sighed

“Whaddya mean?” she asked cocking her head to the side

“Three years..... and it's over...” I never even told you I loved you

“Hey Yash” she said as she grabbed his haori sleeve

“Yea” he cocked his head to the side... he finally began to like his new nickname

“I wanted to tell you something but.......”

A shinidamachu flew past them signaling to InuYasha.

“Kagome” he sighed knowing she knew what occurred

“Hai... go I'll... uh we can talk later” she said with a fake smile.

And with that, InuYasha was off.

Back at camp, the group was gathered around the small campfire.

“So tomorrow we leave for Kaede's village and then finally we can purify the jewel.” Miroku said ecstatically.

“So Kagome..... where's InuYasha?” Sango asked changing her gleeful tune into one of suspicion

“Off with Kikyo by now” she replied

“Kagome... I'm sorry.... I should have... I mean” Sango stuttered, barely audible

“Whaddya mean Sango-chan?” Kagome asked curios as to what her dear friend meant

“Well what I meant was... see ...”

“KAGOME, INUYASHA IS BEING DRAGGED TO HELL BY KIKYO!!” Shippoe spat - as he ran to Kagome-not realizing that's what Sango was trying to prevent.

“He WHAT?!” Kagome said suddenly enraged.

She jumped up from her seat and ran to the site.

“Think she'll be ok?”

“Yea Houshi-sama” she said waving him off. “ least I hope she is.” She mumbled silently as she turned over to sleep.

Kagome ran to the site. She saw Kikyo holding onto InuYasha for dear life (ironic huh?)

And pulling him into the depths of hell. Flames encircled the betraying couple.

 

“INUYASHA !!!!! INUYASHAAAAA” she screamed but to no avail.

“InuYasha please don't leave me” she begged

 

He never opened his eyes, or made the slightest notion that he new she was there.

 

`I can't let him go. No now not after everything we've been through'

 

“is that your wish? Midoriko whispered as the Shikon jewel began to glow a bright pink

 

“What??” she asked un-certainly

 

“You say you are afraid to loose the one you love correct?”

 

“H-hai”

 

“So then, what is your wish?”

 

“I wish he ..no, no I wish that this had never happened. This being he and Kikyo had never been betrayed by each other” she whispered sadly.

 

“As you wish” the voice said before everything went black.

“Next stop, Kyoshi Bay Blvd.” the announcer said as the train came to a halt and the doors slid open.

Kagome sighed as she walked off the small train. “here we go again” she mumbled incoherently as she walked quickly out of the annoying little station.

Not paying attention to her surroundings, she ran into something with such force that she fell roughly onto her butt.

 

“Sorry, you should really be more careful”

A calm male voice said

 

Kagome looked up and saw amazing ember eyes.

 

“Taisho InuYasha , and u?”

 

“Higurashi Kagome” she said smiling as helped her off the ground.
