InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Perfect Day ❯ Perfect Day ( Chapter 1 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

A/N: I'm not really sure where this came from. It's kind of the prequel to my other story “When Just Existing Isn't Enough” which was booted off ffn two weeks ago. Writing this helped me to get a feel for how Kikyo felt on the day she was to go meet Inuyasha. It tells about her excitement, her optimism. It's not really that great, it's not very long, but it did help me get a feel for the way I am portraying Kikyo in my other story. Thanks for reading!

Discalimer: I don't Inuyasha, but in my dreams I do.

Perfect Day

Today was the day. She was so excited, she hadn't slept all night. Yesterday, he had kissed her. Or rather she had kissed him, but it mattered not because at the end of today, they would be together for the rest of their lives. When she was with him, she didn't feel lonely and she knew he felt the same. After today, she would never have to worry about the Shikon No Tama again. It would be purified and she could live with her only love. With a sigh and a giggle, she tied back her long black hair with a white ribbon.

She crept through the shrine in the grayness before dawn. They were suppose to meet at noon, but being his impatient self, Inuyasha wanted to transform last night. She had told him no because the night would have made the jewel dark. She had smiled when she told him to meet at dawn by the God tree.

The only sound was the light clacks of her wooden sandals on the floor and the light swishing of her crimson pants. She knelt next to her sleeping sibling. Brushing back the raven colored bangs, she was careful not to hurt the girl's injured eye. She leaned forward and lightly pressed a kiss on her eight year old sister's forehead. “I love you, Kaede,” she whispered softly, before standing up. She pulled back the curtain at the entry way and prepared to take a step outside.

“Kikyo? Where are you going?” The small voice asked sleepily.

“I'm just going out.” She smiled softly as Kaede yawned. “It's still early. Go back to sleep.”

“Where are you going sister?”

“I'm going to get you some more medicine.”

Kaede's good eye flicked toward the medicine near her bed. “But I have plenty of medicine.”

Kikyo stared blankly for a minute. Damn it! She needed a better excuse than that! “I'm going to look harder. Maybe there is some better medicine for your eye.”

“Thank you.”

“Does your eye still hurt?” Kikyo feared that Kaede would never get her vision back in that eye. She had been terrified when the demon attacked Kaede. They were all each other had had since their parents were killed by bandits while assisting a neighboring village a year earlier. Kikyo knew Inuyasha would help her raise Kaede when he became human.

“No. Thank you for saving me.” Kaede yawned again. “I love you.”

“I'll be back soon. I love you too little sister.” With that said, she walked from her home with the Shikon No Tama and into the chilly air of the predawn. She needed to hurry or she would be late. She ran into the future toward the tree to meet the man she loved. Today both she and Inuyasha would break away from what had been holding them back together. Today everything would change. Today was the start of a perfect day.
