A side story to Two mikos and a heart of ice

Don't fret precious I'm here...Step away from the window...

I crouched on my haunches, perched on the battlements. Looking in on the life I lost.

Go...back to sleep...

I looked at their faces...So innocent...So undeserving of the life they were living without her.

Lay your head down child...I won't let the boogie man...come...

'I'll protect you.' I thought. 'I'll always protect you.'

Count the bodies like sheep to the rhythm of the war drums...

A single tear rolled off my cheek and fell to the ground far below.

Pay no mind to the rabble...[pay no mind to the rabble...]

I then looked towards the grand balcony to the right of their window.

Head down...go to sleep...to the rhythm of the war drums.

Him...

Pay no mind...what other voices say...

Another tear fell, and I growled low. How I despise him now.

They don't care about you...Like I do...[like I do...]

I clenched my fist, my claws digging painfully into my palms.

I did not heed the blood that flowed from between my knuckles. How I, hate him.

Safe from pain...and truth...and choice...and other poison devils...

I forced my hands open and gripped the stone of the formidable wall of his fortress.

I closed my eyes, letting a few stray tears fall.

See...they don't give a fuck about you...like I do...

I stood up slowly, looking in on him with hatred burning like hell in my eyes.

I turned my back slowly, leaving two bloody handprints on his flawless stone.

Just...stay with me…safe...and ignorant...

I took one last look at the sleeping faces of my children, before jumping off the wall, plunging toward the ground that loomed, foreboding, below me.

Go...back to sleep...go...back to sleep...

I spread my wings, twisting to the left as I turned myself upright; my hair flying around my face like a shroud of black.

Lay your head down child...I won't let the boogie man...come...

I beat them repeatedly to lift myself towards the star strewn sky.

In the split second I turned around, I looked down at the ancient fortress, the luminous moon at my back.

Count the bodies like sheep to the rhythm of the war drums...

My eyes darkened, creating a dark shadow on my face.

Pay no mind to the rabble...[pay no mind to the rabble...]

I swiftly turned around and drove myself forward brutally.

An unknown destination awaiting my arrival...calling to me...

Head down...go to sleep...to the rhythm of the war drums...

My hair and tail streamed out behind me like a banner.

I closed my eyes, letting my nose and ears guide me.

A soft red mist flowed from my bare fingertips, sparkling behind me...shimmering like the stars that graced the heavens so high above me.

I'll be the one to protect you from...Your enemies and all your demons...

As the mist reached the treetops, and descended below them, it left destruction in its wake, the leaves and branches blackened.

I smiled, indifferent to what was happening below and behind me.

As I opened my eyes when a strange smell reached my nose, I saw before me a sleeping village.

I'll be the one to protect you from...

When I reached the outskirts of the small kinship, I upturned myself, landing without a sound on the hard packed earth.

'So peaceful...' I thought as I looked at the glowing embers of fires outside of the dwellings.

A will to survive and a voice of reason...

I approached the first hut silently.

I pushed aside the thin covering of the door and stepped in to the dimly lit home.

I looked down on the faces of the children and lone mother sleeping on one large cot.

I'll be the one to protect you from...

I smiled down on them.

In one slow movement, I drew my two katanas and held them at my sides.

Your enemies and your choices son...

I crossed them in front of her chest; the same distant smile on my lips.

I brought my two katanas down in one prompt movement, the only sound cold steel cutting through the night air.

Blood spattered across the floor, and spilled from the headless corpses of the three humans.

They're one and the same...I must isolate you...

I lowered my swords and turned my back on the headless bodies, and the steadily growing pool of blood.

I walked out of the hollow dwelling and stared at the other huts scattered throughout the village.

Isolate and save you from yourself...

I strode to the next hut and moved the curtain aside.

A whole family.

'How sweet' I thought as the blood from the other family dripped from the tip of my sword to soil the tatami mat beneath her feet.

Sway to the rhythm of the new world order and..!

I walked out of the now vacant home to see a man walking through the village.

We locked eyes for a second before he screamed, "Demon! There's a demon in the village! Get the miko! Demon! Demon!"

I laughed lowly throwing my head back exposing my fangs to the gleaming light of the now blazing fire.

Count the bodies like sheep to the rhythm of the war drums!

As people began pouring from their homes, I lifted my swords and decapitated a woman, who would have run past me.

As the miko stepped in front of the frantically running villagers, she yelled, "Run and get behind me!"

I swung each of my arms and cut two o the people who had been near me in half.

The boogie men are coming! The boogie men are coming!

The miko aimed an arrow at me and said, "Die demon!"

She released it and I merely laughed as I held up a hand and it stopped in mid air.

Thunder rumbled overhead as I clenched my fist and it crumbled to ashes on the ground.

At her horrified look, I merely flicked my hand at her and a red icicle hurtled towards her, and then impaled her through the torso.

The many villagers who had been standing behind her were showered with her blood.

Keep you head down! Go to sleep! To the rhythm of the war drums...

As they continued to run and scream, I walked through the crowd and casually slashed to the left and to the right, severing people in half and decapitating a few as well.

As everything seemed to move in slow motion, I laughed as I cut another woman in half.

Lightning streaked across the sky.

I threw a fireball to the left, and then one to the right; the sound of the explosion and the screams of the villagers music to my ears.

Stay with me...

After I finally stopped to view my handiwork; the village as in ruins.

No screams.

No running.

Safe and...ignorant...

Just the crackling of the burning huts.

I looked at the ground and saw river of blood flowing from each and every body.

Just stay with me...

I looked the reflection of my bloody face in my bloody sword.

I smiled.

That same distant smile...

Hold you and protect you from the other ones...

I turned away from the massacre as the rain started to pour down in vengeful torrents.

The evil ones...

I walked into the forest, the rain matting my blood-soaked hair to my face and creating rivulets of diluted blood run down my body.

Don't love you son...

The blood ran down my claws and dripped to the ground.

It ran down the length of my swords and splashed to the ground.

As the rain poured down behind me, putting out the fires I had created.

Go back to sleep...

And washed away the blood of the innocent I had slain.

Go back to sleep...

Go back to sleep...
