Pieces -- Part IV
Never on earth or in hell or all the places in between could she concentrate on the human condition at its best. Though she wouldn't - and perhaps couldn't anymore - hope for anything beyond the unbidden dreams and desires dancing through her soul as she now shouldered her responsibilities with great care and perfection ensuring the past was not repeated. After all, it was that which was life-giving, and just, and good, and life-giving...
Never on earth or in hell or all the places in between did she want to concentrate on the human condition at its best. Perhaps it was noble - not necessarily wise - but noble nonetheless, she remembered all the evil monsters that had haunted her and all the ones she killed, and the creature named Inuyasha that hadn't been evil, had won over her belief in goodness of the world, and yet whom she still killed without knowing the larger brilliant darkness at work. So, she spent her day burying the dead - even though she was exception to the cause - and hunting her enemy, and helping the weak and victimized, and trying not to remember her broken heart and trying not to cry so she could focus on that which was just, and life-giving, and good, and just...
Never on earth or in hell or all the places in between would she fathom the human condition at its best. Where there was truth and light and love there was war and lies and greed waiting to destroy that truth and light and love as it existed; this, her experiences had taught her well. Her dreams and desires come true were only once upon a times; her pure thoughts filled with regret and clarity as realization dawned concerning the sacrifices she should have made - could have made - and ought to have made so long ago. Though her frown deepened with that thought - because she was dwelling on that which was good, and just, and life-giving, and just, and life-giving...
It was inarguably wise, though not entirely appreciated, that the fates determined she should die and become reincarnated to learn the truth with unbiased opinion - and live again.
