InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Pirate Runaway ❯ Hello Mother ( Chapter 9 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
I am sorry I have not updated in over a month. A close friend of mine was under a lot of stress, as was I. But I'm okay now, and she will be so as well, for a little while at least.
I am sure I'll be able to update more often once I get the internet on my computer, though I will have more spelling mistakes then because I have no spell check thingy on this computer. But at least I'll update more, hopefully. I hope never to spend a whole month not updating one of my fics again. I am truly sorry.

Chapter 9
Hello, Mother

All of the crew was safely in an inn now. It was called Mayonaka Inn.

It was worked out so that Deni, Ookami, Ali, and Gano dressed as men, or rather samurai and went ashore with Kagome, Sango, Rin, and Kiyo. To anyone who asked, these four women, or men, were the crew's escorts with a couple other 'men' aboard the ship. The ship looked ordinary, like a passenger ship. They changed the sails to white so they would not look suspicious and made some of the stuff look more 'manly'.

Sango walked in her room to see Kagome standing out on a small balcony looking sadly out at the sea. Sango walked quietly across the room and stood next to Kagome. She put a hand on her shoulder and turned toward her. "What's wrong, Kagome?" she asked in a concerned voice.

"I feel something bad is going to happen," Kagome said, still looking out at the sea. "And since I'm not out there-" she motioned to the large expanse of salt water "-I feel out of place. Useless. Like I won't be able to do anything when whatever this is thing happens." Kagome turned towards Sango. "What will I do?"

Sango stared at her best friend and fellow captain. She didn't even know what to do, so she just sighed and said the first thought that came to her. "I think we should just follow through with our plans. They're good and thought-out. We spent days on it."

"Yes, we did." Kagome heaved a long sad sigh and looked back towards the sea. "I'll go tonight, as planned. And you will leave tomorrow. And we all leave on the ship the next day. It'll all work out." Sango just nodded and walked back inside. Kagome got like this all the time, but it always worried her. What worried her most though is that, in some way or another, Kagome's bad feelings came true.

Kagome looked out of her balcony window until dusk. At that time she went back into her room and changed. She changed into a kimono since they were pretending to be from Japan. The kimono was black with a blood red embroidered vine that went from her neck line to hip. She pulled her hair in a Japanese styled bun and hid her daggers from view.

She walked out of her room and down the hall. At the top of the stairs she was greeted by Deni. "There are policemen downstairs," she whispered. "Apparently there is a bar here that the men in town come to frequently."

"Okay," Kagome replied. "Be careful not to let anything slip. We do not want to start a fight." Deni nodded and the two headed downstairs. As they reached the bottom though they heard a crash from the next room. Kagome and Deni hurried in and saw a funny sight, but an unwanted one as well.

Sango stood over a policeman with dark hair that was unconscious. Sango was bright red and stood with her hand in the air. Kagome noticed a red handprint form on the policeman's cheek.

The other police barely spared their comrade a glance. They just carried on in their conversations.

Kagome walked over to Sango and spoke quickly and quietly so none of the police would hear. "What happened?"

"This... this.... baka..." Kiyo, who was sitting on a stool, interrupted.

"The officer is a hentai."

Kagome looked at the officer in shock. Police officers were NOT supposed to grope women. That was just NOT right. Though it was rather odd the man was only unconscious. The last man that had touched Sango had ended up in a coma. The whole crew knew that story. But let's not get into that.

"Sango," Kagome whispered so that the officers could not hear her, "try NOT to hit anyone. We do NOT need any unwanted attention." Sango opened her mouth to reply but shut it quickly and glared at Kagome a second later.

"Then what am I SUPPOSE to do? Let them feel me up?!" she asked angrily, but quietly.

"No. Get them back later." Kagome smirked. "Then you can get him back far better than just a hit to the head." Sango smirked as well, her lips forming an evil grin as she thought of what she could do.

"We have some whips on the ship," Kiyo suggested. Both captains nodded.

"Thinking like a pirate," Kagome commented. Kiyo blushed.

"Thanks cap'n," she said quietly and walked away.

"So," Sango said, "are you leaving soon?"

"Hai," Kagome nodded with a smile. "In a little while." She sat down at a table nearby and Sango followed suit.

"You have everything ready?" Sango asked.

"Hai. I will take the horse and leave in five minutes," Kagome said. "Be careful while I am not here. I will be ready when you come. If not, leave me." Sango opened her mouth to protest. "No." Sango closed her mouth. "I will find you. I can take care of myself. I know where you'll be."

"Okay..." Sango rose from her chair and stood beside Kagome as she got up as well. "But remember," Sango continued as she hugged Kagome, "to be careful as well."

"I will," Kagome whispered and hugged her best friend and co-captain back. "I must be going now." Kagome leaned back. "We don't wish to make a scene," she said as she moved away. "I'll see you then." Kagome hugged her friend again as farewell, and she left the room. As soon as she got by the front door, Gano was there with a black bag.

"Be careful, Captain," she said, again moving her long ponytail off her shoulder. "Be watchful, and sneak in the shadows." Kagome looked at her curiously. Gano laughed before she said, "Gypsi wished me to tell you that. She also said that you must remember to bring her skirt this time. She feels naked without it!" The two laughed quietly and Kagome took her bag.

"Okay. I'll bring it with me this time," she promised. "Ja ne," Kagome said and bowed, noticing an officer was coming. "Kore wa suki dewa arimasen." (((Translation: I don't like this.)))

"Nani?" Gano asked. Kagome looked over to the doorway and Gano did as well. "Hai. O-yasimu nasai, my Lady."

"Pretty ladies..." the drunken man in the doorway mumbled.”Hello! Do you understand me?" he said slowly. Both Gano and Kagome acted confused. "Too bad..." The drunken man turned away. "Was that a guy...?" her grumbled before he fell over.

"Go now, Captain," Gano urged. "Waste not a minute."

Kagome rushed out the door before the officers came in to see what caused the loud noise. Gano started rambling in Japanese (sounding like a man) as the men came in joined by Sango and Kiyo, who led Gano upstairs.

---In the stables---

Kagome latched her bag onto the black horse. She climbed atop the horse next and leaned down to its ear. "Let's ride, Sato," she whispered and the horse immediately galloped out of the stables and into the forest. Sato ran the path that led to a mansion on the cliff.

'Mother...' Kagome thought. 'I hope you're okay...'

In less than five minutes she was quietly dismounting Sato. "Stay here Sato," she whispered before sneaking up to a window on the far left side of the house. There, in a rocking chair, sat a woman with long dark brown hair that lay across her shoulder and trailed to her waist in waves. She wore a dress of deep blue that looked extremely uncomfortable. Across the room was a man in black slacks and a fancy white shirt with ruffles at the chest and collar, his thick silver hair fall down his back. He faced the woman.

"Don't worry, Mrs. Higurashi. We will find her. After she pays justification, she will be set free," he assured her.

"I know my daughter, Lord Inutashio," she said in a voice shaky with unshed tears. "You will not find her so easily. She hides well. She sneaks well, and, if she wishes it, you will not even know where she resides." Kagome felt adoration well up inside of her at her mother's words.

"I have already told you, as well, Mrs. Higurashi," Inutashio said, annoyance flashing across his golden eyes. "My son gets what he wants."

"He is spoiled," she spat.

"No. He is determined," he corrected. "I do not always give things to him. In fact, I hardly ever give him anything. He knows how to get what he wants, and, for some reason, he wants Kagome."

"Well, if he wants her so damn bad, then why the hell does he have his rash half-brother as a commander?!" Mrs. Higurashi hiccupped as she let the class of wine in her hand fall to the floor just as she let the tears flow down her cheeks. "My Kagome doesn't want to be on land, Inutashio. She wants the sea. She wants to live on the water. She needs it. I know my own daughter, even if it has been a long time since I have talked to her. My Kagome will never truly change. You will see..." Mrs. Higurashi hiccupped again.

"Mrs. Higurashi," Inutashio started, "your daughter is still engaged to my son. I can not just call it off, it is now his choice. I must leave now. My wife expects me soon." Inutashio fled the room, his long black, gold trimmed coat flying out behind him along with his silver hair. "Good day, Mrs. Higurashi."

"Yeah, yeah, yeah," she muttered, before standing up straight and picking up the glass on the floor. "Stupid man..." She placed the glass on the small table beside her chair. "Doesn’t even know an act when he sees one."

'Time for a surprise," Kagome thought, sliding the window opened with ease. Kagome climbed into the house with grace, and stood by the window until her mother turned around when she felt a cool breeze. She froze.

"Kagome..." she whispered.”Is that you? Am I imagining things...?" She stumbled closer. "Why...?"

"Hello, Mother."
