[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
Thank you so much for the reviews! I know that last chapter was short, but I just had to think through what was going to happen next. I'm still not totally sure, but I'm gonna go threw it and see how it goes. Here I go. ^_^
Last Chapter:
"Yeah, yeah, yeah," she muttered, before standing up straight and picking up the glass on the floor. "Stupid man..." She placed the glass on the small table beside her chair. "Doesn’t even know an act when he sees one."
'Time for a surprise," Kagome thought, sliding the window opened with ease. Kagome climbed into the house with grace, and stood by the window until her mother turned around when she felt a cool breeze. She froze.
"Kagome..." she whispered. Is that you? Am I imagining things...?" She stumbled closer. "Why...?"
"Hello, Mother."
Chapter 10
Shouji Kage
"Kagome?" her mother whispered. "Is that really you?" She walked shakily over to Kagome, stopping only when they were within reaching distance.
"Yes," Kagome said softly. "It's me, Mother. It's really me." Kagome smiled softly while incasing her mother in a tight hug.
"Finally," she said, returning the hug, "my baby has come home!" Kagome leaned back from the hug.
"No, Mother," Kagome said sadly but sternly. "I have not come home. I don't think I'll ever be able to, but I have missed you. And I know how much money you have spent on trying to find me-"
"It wasn't me, honey," she interrupted. "It was, well... It was Sesshomaru. He has been anxious to find you. I have no money, and I doubt I will until I remarry. But Lord Inutashio has insisted I stay her, just in case you come back. Sesshomaru and Inutashio have spent their money and used their power to find you."
"What?" Kagome asked in shock. "Why?"
"I don't know," she replied, turning away and walking over to her rocking chair. "Sesshomaru will not state his reasons. But there is a reward for anyone who manages to capture any of your crew, and an even higher reward to anyone who captures you." Kagome just looked at her mother in astonishment. That couldn't be true, it just couldn't. It was very true that they were pirates, but they kept the peace at most times. All they really did was steal ships and money, only to stay on sail and to pay for themselves.
"How far does the search go?" Kagome asked quietly. She looked out the window while waiting for the answer.
"Only through Europe, so far. Inutashio said that they are widening the search."
Kagome sighed and walked back over to the window. "Stay well, Mother. I must go." Mrs. Higurashi just nodded in her chair, and picked up a book on the end table beside her.
"You too, Kagome, dear. Be sure to visit more often." She turned a smile to her only daughter. "I'll be waiting." Kagome smiled back before climbing out the window. She shut it tightly and hurried back to her horse.
When she got there, she noticed her horse was no where to be found. "Sato," she called softly. "Come here girl." There were no sounds. None at all. She glanced about her uneasily, but saw no one. Suddenly, she felt a presence behind her. She turned quickly and bumped into a very firm chest. An arm of the man snaked out and grabbed her upper arm, steadying her. "Who the hell... are..." The rest of her words died in her throat as she stared up into his face. "Sesshomaru," she whispered shakily.
"Kagome." He looked at her without emotion showing at all, not that she could interpret anyway.
"Wha... What are you doing here?" Kagome asked in a very soft voice.
"Doing my job," he replied coldly. "You are coming with me." He started to drag her off but she resisted. And he turned very cold and intense molten gold eyes on to her. "I will not tell you again."
"No!" Kagome yelled, yanking her arm from his grasp. "I am not going to leave with you! I have a job to do as well!" Kagome turned to run, but didn't get very far.
Within seconds, Sesshomaru had her pinned to the ground. "You are not going anywhere besides back to your mother's house." Kagome opened her mouth again to protest, but was interrupted yet again. "Your crew has been caught. You have no where to go."
"No," Kagome whispered. "You’re lying."
"This Sesshomaru does not lie," he growled. He roughly picked her up off the ground and threw her over his shoulder. "Don't struggle; it will only make it worse for you."
"Put me down!" Kagome managed to yell threw her shock. 'My crew,' she thought sadly. 'They were caught because of me. Because of my decisions. I have failed them.' Kagome felt the tears coming, but forced them back. 'I will not let him see me cry.'
Sesshomaru did not say anything. He had went down to the Inn were most of the police were at after dark, and had seen more women than usual. Not only this, but the men with them sis not look like men. He looked closely and realized they were women in disguise. They woman he had grabbed to assure his thoughts had viciously kicked him and went straight into a battle stance. She had a mix of blonde hair once he had pulled off her black wig.
<><>flashback<><>
"Who are you?" the girl asked coldly, glaring at him.
"That is of none of your concern. But, do tell me who you are." It was a command. The girl knew it. Her eyes glistened with rage, and she pulled a dagger from her left hip and got in another stance. He raised an eyebrow at this.
"Do not proceed to tell me what I shall do. Only two people can do that, and you are not either." She stayed where she was, and a woman that was taller than her, came to stand near her.
"Deni," she said while looking at Sesshomaru, "put away your dagger." Deni sighed, but did as she was told. "Who are you?" she asked, the question seeming more demanding when she said it than when the Deni girl had.
"Who are you?" Sesshomaru repeated her question, not pleased that she remained quiet. By now all the police had entered the large lobby and were starting to draw their swords.
"I asked first," she said with a smirk. She put out her hand and the girl known as Deni placed a katana in it.
"My Lord!" came a craggy voice behind her. All turned and looked at the little greenish toad looking man besides him and the girl with the katana.
"Silence, Jaken," he said cold. The toad looking man froze and stayed quiet.
"So," she said calmly with a sly smile, "you are one of the famed lords. Sesshomaru or Inutashio? I'm guessing you're Sesshomaru." Sesshomaru narrowed his eyes at the mockery in her voice but said nothing. "The question now is," she said, getting in a fighting position, "who am I?"
Sesshomaru drew his sword from his side. "Tell me," he commanded.
"My Lord!" Sesshomaru looked over to the annoying little man with a glare. "Sorry, my Lord! But I know who these women are! They are the Shouji Kage! The pir-"
"I know who the Shouji Kage are, Jaken. Now, Silence." Jaken shivered at the increased coldness in his voice. "Sango, a captain of the Shouji Kage. I am pleased to have captured you." Sango just smiled slowly.
"What makes you think that I have been captured?" she asked.
"This." With a flick of his wrist he sliced her katana in two and had his sword tip at her throat all in a blink of an eye. "Officers. Gather the whole crew and lock them in the dungeons. Send some officers to the ship they arrived on as well. I will be back." He turned to leave only to stop when he heard struggling behind him. He turned and saw three knocked out officers on the floor and Deni with her fist up, daring anyone to try and lock her up. "Lock her in a separate cell along with the captain." Sesshomaru turned and left just as a few officers pulled out guns.
<><>end of flashback<><>
Sesshomaru only put Kagome down when he got to the house once again. Kagome's mother came out of her room and looked down at them in her night clothes. "Kagome... There is a room ready for you. It's down the hall by your room, Sesshomaru." She then turned around and went back to her room without another word. Sesshomaru grabbed Kagome by the upper arm and practically dragged her upstairs to the room beside his. He opened the door and pushed her in. When he turned to leave, he was stopped by her voice.
"Why?" He turned to look at her. She was standing in the middle of the room, her eyes on the soft carpet under her feet. "Why did you search for me?"
"Because it is my job," he said. It was the closest thing to the truth that he would tell her. The real truth was that he didn't know. He just knew he had to find her.
"Where is my crew?" she asked quietly.
"In the dungeons." He moved to leave again.
"The old dungeons? How could you put them in there? They are-"
"Pirates," he interrupted. "The Shouji Kage are pirates." He shut the door behind him and went to his own room.
