2. New leader
“Kikyo” Inu Yasha whispered as he found her under the Goshinboku Tree.
“Inu Yasha,” Kikyo said turning.

“I... I sensed you were here...” Inu Yasha said, stepping closer to her.

Kikyo eyed him warily as he approached, but made no move to leave, “ Have you made your choice, Inu Yasha?”

“Kikyo... I promised to protect you but...” Inu Yasha whispered as he took her cold form into his arms.

“ Let me go,” She said forcefully, though she did not move from his arms. She looked up and stared into his face, which was only a few centimeters above hers.

Kagome’s body lay on the grass by the bank. She hadn’t moved, spare her bodies automatic functions.

“Go see to the Hoshi; make up something about Kagome so he does not come here,” Issai commanded.

“But-” Sango began.

“No, go or he shall suffer the penalties for his perverted ways,” And with that, Sango went back through the forest towards camp, “ I will have to gather her and the kitsune cub for Kagome later”

Issai let out a sigh. Shaking her head, she sat down next to Kagome and looked into her. She was surprised when she saw three souls, a pure white and a light red trying to push out a gray. Just then, Kagome’s body started convulsing as the two other souls became closer and closer to pushing out the third. Her body shot up into a sitting position as the main part of the gray was forced from it. A human Kagome was formed from the gray soul that had been forced from Kagome’s body. It stood and looked around before it was abruptly and sharply pulled away and out of sight.

“ And so the future has begun,” Issai said as she stooped down to take Kagome’s shell in which the remaining two souls and part of the gray folded around each other.

Kikyo and Inu Yasha stood looking into each others faces for only a brief moment until a gray form smashed into Kikyo.

“ Kikyo!” Inu Yasha yelled as he held her sagging form after the blow, “Speak to me!”

“I'm fine, Inu Yasha” Kikyo said...or was it Kagome?

‘Huh?’ Inu Yasha thought, ‘What in the seven hells?’ He gasped audibly when a very alive looking Kikyo looked back up at him. She wasn't quite Kikyo, though... Her hair and fair complexion was the same...yet her eyes were happy and sparkling, her face radiant, and her voice soft.

“Who are you?” Inu Yasha demanded, wishing to push this creature away, but unable to do so.

“Kikyo/Kagome” The meld said at once. It gasped and stood up right, looking at it’s hands in a surprise. I looked back at Inu Yasha, taking a step, before it was jerked back.

“What the fuck?!” Inu Yasha said under his breath before taking off after the Kikyo/ Kagome meld. He saw it as it was pulled back into the bone eaters well and saw the familiar supernatural glow. Inu Yasha paced his strides and leapt into the well... only to hit the dirt ground.

Servants hustled about in front of Issai as she walked towards the throne room of the Southern Palace, carrying Kagome.

A tall, elegant, kitsune youkai servant, presumably the retainer, stepped in stride with her “ This is a pleasant surprise, my lady” He said, eyes downcast, “ Shall I warn the lord of your presence?”

“ Yes,” Issai replied, not missing a beat as she turned left at a hallway.

“ As you wish” and the retainer disappeared. Issai took a right and then a left, finally appearing at a set of magnificent oak doors, large and elaborate. She pushed them aside and stepped into a grand throne room, which was sparkling white marble with carved columns, beautiful furniture, and of course, the throne.

The occupant of the throne stood, “My lady, what a unexpected surprise,” he said, bowing.

Issai snorted, his scent of nervousness filling the air like a cloud, tinged with neko. She replied,“ I have the rightful air to the Southern throne,” she said, walking past the neko youkai, “ we both have been waiting for this day, I hope you are not too disappointed.”

“ Not at all, my lady,”

“ Good, Kisho,” Issai said with a relieved sigh, having sensed the utter truth of Kisho’s words. She walked past Kisho, motioning him to follow as she made her way through the throne room and into a hall, following it’s twists and turns until she stopped, abruptly, at a set of intricately marked maple doors. She pushed them open and laid Kagome upon the bed in the center of the room; the silken sheets wrinkling like golden air as the weight of Kagome was distributed upon them.

“ Have you finally found her, Issai-san?” Kisho asked, peering into Kagome’s face and tracing her markings with his eyes. There were golden stripes slashing across her eyes, one for each eye, tearing from the right. Her hair was a dark, luxuriant black that reached down to her waist and was slightly wavy.

“ Yes, Kisho-san,” Issai replied, “ I am sure of it. I entrust you with her learning of the responsibilities that have been bestowed upon her; not only being youkai, but the Southern tai-youkai at that.”

“ She was a ningen?” Kisho hissed under his breath.

“ Yes, she was,” Issai said, sending him a sharp glare,” You know how I feel about such hate. Do not treat her any differently for what she was, and do not try to erase her humanity.”

“ I am sorry, my lady,” he then said, eyes downcast,” I forgot myself.”

“ That is quite alright, it happens to the best of us,” Issai replied softly, “ now, let us have some peace, I will give her a bit of information about her new situation once she wakes.”

“ Hai, my lady,” Kisho said before disappearing.

Issai sighed heavily after he was gone, and turned to look at Kagome, “ I am sorry, little girl, these shall be trying times for you...”

Preview of chap 3: “What the fuck?!” Inu Yasha muttered as he hit the solid dirt ground. He immediately looked up, yet saw only the familiar open sky of feudal Japan- not the well house. “ Musta been a problem.” He then added, unsure. He propelled himself up vertically and descended upon the well once more... only to hit the dirt, once more. Then, suddenly, Inu Yasha’s eyes widened in comprehension- he was unable to pass through time anymore.

Ookami Misu- So, wassup ppl?! Long time!! Well, anyway, i might just stop this story compleatly. I feel it’s sacrilage, but, well, its under internal debate!
