InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Please take me home ❯ I will wait ( Chapter 3 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

Kagome cried into her mother's shoulder. She missed InuYasha so much, and it hadn't even been a day. She just wanted to tell him her true feelings, but didn't want to have her heart broken if he still loved Kikyou. Kikyou. She truly hated her after all this. All the pain Kagome went through because of her. InuYasha went though hell with her too. Kikyou just didn't deserve to walk the Earth. But InuYasha still kept his feelings of love for her. Kagome just didn't understand it. She never knew where InuYasha's heart was. Whenever Kagome helped, supported, or even just smelt like a male, InuYasha got defensive and interrogated her about it.

She felt like nothing was left of her life as she sobbed. Her mother just patted her on the back, encouraging her to cry. Once she got all the tears out, maybe she would feel better. Kagome hated this feeling. It was nothing like she ever felt before.

After a few minutes Kagome couldn't stand crying in front of her mother. Too many times had she cried over InuYasha to her mother. She stood and left for her room. Her mother understood and stayed seated with the, now cold, tea in front of her.

Kagome didn't even make it up the stairs before collapsing onto the floor. Souta came out of his room when he heard his sister sobbing downstairs and was trying to help his sister to her room. Souta didn't understand as well, but he did understand his sister was hurting and he wanted to help. She got to her room and fell onto her bed, crying into one of her pillows, which eventually led her to sleep.

"Hey monk. Is Kagome coming back anytime soon?" The wolf-demon asked as he emerged from the bushes.

"No… she's gone for good." Miroku replied as he walked away from Kouga, still trying to find InuYasha.

"What did the mutt do this time?" Kouga followed him, intent on getting information on why he saw InuYasha clawing at trees to relieve anger or sadness. Kouga guessed sadness, because each time he clawed one tree down, InuYasha's eyes became watery.

"The quest is finished, Kouga. She set out to retrieve every jewel shard and she did so. Her time here is over. I suggest you get used to it as InuYasha is trying." Miroku finally heard something sounding a lot like trees falling and he ran to see what it was.

"InuYasha!" Miroku rushed to him. The hanyou's claws were bleeding and making puddles everywhere.

Kouga laughed, "Seems like dog face isn't taking this too well. I have to go, Ayame is waiting." He sped off, even without the shards he was fast.

InuYasha wiped away the tears and gave a glare that could kill to Miroku for interrupting him.

Miroku backed up, "Please InuYasha, come back with me. Lady Kaede will be able to wrap up your hands so they don't get infected."

InuYasha walked past Miroku, heading back to the village.

Once they got into the village, every woman with ebony hair caught his eye. He kept seeing Kagome's smiling face at him. Then, when he got into Kaede's hut, he saw Sango and his heart stopped. Just looking at her reminded him of all the times Kagome scowled him when the traveled.

InuYasha…" Miroku repeated his name for the tenth time. InuYasha had been staring so fixedly on Sango it was scaring him.

Miroku's words snapped InuYasha and he fell into Sango's arms, seeking comfort in anything that remind him of his beauty.

Sango knew exactly what he must have been going through. She lost so much in her life she completely understood. "I know. It's all right. Kagome loves you InuYasha and she only wanted the best."

"Kagome…" InuYasha repeated her name. "She didn't give me time to say anything…"

Sango looked up to Miroku trying to get some help with him.

"I can't go on without her… I want to be with her, Sango… She always made me happy… I need her…"

"InuYasha, Sango is not fit to withstand ye weight on her." Kaede knew how much he loved Kagome, and had an idea if he was willing to do it.

Shippou sat silently; a little afraid of what he was seeing. InuYasha never cried, he just wasn't the type.

InuYasha held onto Sango for a few seconds more then reluctantly released her. He went straight into the corner so no one could see him crying, though they could hear him.

"InuYasha. Ye have a few choices. Ye can live on without Kagome. Ye could use the Jewel to transport ye to the future. Or ye can wait until Kagome's era comes to present and meet her then."

"I'm sleeping here tonight." InuYasha said quietly as he laid down, facing the walls.

"By morning InuYasha." Kaede said. She knew this was a hard decision to make, but a night was enough time.

InuYasha wanted to use the wish to give Kagome immortality, and that is all he would use it for. So he was going to wait. Kagome was worth it to him. He would live in hell for five hundred years just to see her once again. As InuYasha closed his eyes to sleep, he felt something furry and small nestle into his body. Realizing it was Shippou and knowing how much the little kitsune was hurting, he put one hand around him in sympathy. After a few minutes of Shippou struggling to get a comfortable position, InuYasha fell asleep.

~*~*~*~*~InuYasha's Dream~*~*~*~*~

InuYasha stood in darkness.

A feminine figure stood before him. The figure got clearer and clearer. He saw her face and called out her name.

"Kagome…." He felt something behind him as well. There she was again. More and more `kagomes' began to appear around him.

He reached out for the one before him, but nothing. He went to another one in despair. Nothing!

"Kagome!!"

Then he heard her voice. Her sweet voice talking to him. It seemed so close, but yet so far away.

"InuYasha. Be strong for me. I will always be in your heart. You took a piece of me and I you. Just stick around a few years, we'll see each other again."

All but one `kagome' disappeared. The one that was there from the start walked up to him and kissed him gently on the lips. He felt every sensation the kiss brought.

"I love you, Kagome…..And I will wait for you. Even if it takes 500 years…"

Kagome smiled. "I love you, too."

InuYasha grabbed Kagome and held her close.

Kagome hugged him back. "I know you don't like it when I leave you, but I have to go."

Her voice was so soothing and comforting, he released her and took a step back. "Bye..Kagome."

Kagome disappeared and darkness filled him again.

*~*~*~End of Dream~*~*~*

InuYasha looked down at Shippou in his arms and sighed. `I will wait, then. Me and Shippou will wait." With that declared in his head he went back to sleep, a smile on his face.

~*~Kagome's era~*~

Kagome closed her book and looked to her window, where the moon's light cascaded onto her bed. She couldn't get to sleep. Every time she closed her eyes a picture of InuYasha screaming for her to stay came into her view. She settled on just staying awake until morning.

Several hours of studying later, Kagome grabbed her things and a bite to eat, and headed off to school.

Almost all of her friends asked her how she was doing and if her hepatitis was gone. Kagome just nodded and went through her classes, trying to keep a smile on her face regardless of the empty feeling she held inside. Hojo made another pass on her but she kept to herself, saying she was very busy with the temple these days.

After school she walked leisurely back home, until she felt that someone was following her. It was a cold feeling and then such a warm feeling, but she dared not to look back. The feelings continued until she turned for the temple, but she didn't look back even then.

She entered her house and was greeted by her mother, who had on a smile and gleaming eyes.

Kagome smiled back and walked into the kitchen.

"How was your day sweetie?" Her mother asked sweetly.

"It was good… Where has Grandpa been? I haven't seen him."

"He has been in the temple. He is so sure that he has come up with a new spell against demons and has sworn that he ran into a demon today. I told him he was crazy, but he still said that he met one."

Kagome sat at the dining table as her mother brought her milk and cookies.

"Thanks…. You said he met a demon today…. Did he say what he looked like?"

"No, he just said he ran into one… I don't think he mentioned anything about it." Her mother was trying to get into another subject, knowing where this one was leading.

"Oh… Alright." Kagome munched on her cookies and soon laid her head down on the table, she felt drained from today and needed a quick nap.

"Kagome, dear, you should go upstairs."

Kagome sighed and grabbed her things, heading upstairs. "Fine.."

~*~*Morning in Feudal Era*~*~

InuYasha growled as he woke to the sound of Sango scowling Miroku, probably for another groping session.

"You lech! If you do that again I will make sure you wince every time you see a woman! GOT IT?!?!"

InuYasha could feel the anger radiating from her, and wasn't going to even move, having a feeling he would be targeted next.

"Please forgive me, Sango." He said rather calmly.

Sango nodded and turned away.

InuYasha sighed. This was going to be a long day.
