Poisoned Flame
Chapter 1
July 20th, 2005, 6:21 pm-
Now I ain't sayin she a gold digger,
But she ain't messin with no, broke, broke niggaz,
Get down girl, go 'head girl get down...

Music blaring, windows down, cigarette smoke blowing in the wind as she sped
down the 405 freeway in her deep blue Infiniti G35.
Was she completely oblivious to me? Perhaps, she hadn't seen me in years.
I had been fol owing her for a few days. I had one of my personal assistants
track her down. She was currently living it up in Southern California in the wealth
of a newly prospering city. She lived near the ocean, but not too near. She lived
in the hills of a sleepy town called San Clemente. Spanish of course. Everything
in Southern California was Spanish. Every damn name of a city or town was
named something in espanol and usually began with a 'Los' or a 'San'. Of
course I wasn't going to complain. She had picked a rather beautiful stretch of
topography to lay low for a while. She was very much into the new and hip, she
grabbed hold of this era faster then any youkai I was in contact with. She
embraced the dawning new era of vehicles, lights, microwaves, telephones and
computers faster then anyone. She loved computers. She told me once that
they were to be the very future of mankind and possibly youkai if they'd allow it,
and that everything would revolve around them. I even remember when she had
heard about the United States military creating something called the internet, so
foreign to my ears then, would someday be a great community where people
would share ideas and communicate on a whole new level.
I despised her enthusiasm. It took many long years for me to truly grasp the
nature of the computer, or merely understand the damn things. One thing I did
grasp early on were cel phones. Communication through wireless phones were

definitely to my appealings. And every new phone that appeared on the market I
consumed. In large amounts might I add. I was always breaking them. My
anger sometimes got the best of my...phone.
She was now merging onto the 5 freeway south, bound for home no doubt.
Traffic was heavy at this time of day but due to an accident not a mile from the
merge traffic seemed to be lighter then normal. She cruised at an even 80 mph
down the freeway blaring her hip hop music. How she could stand such
offensive racket I will never know.
She finally reached home as the sun was fading into the horizon. She parked
her car and moved swiftly out of the vehicle. She pulled a hip sack with the
words, "Hentai Inside" written on it. Obviously borrowing the intel logo. She
loved such funny musings in her original language. She found it charming.
Truth was, she was hentai. As naughty as they came. A fire youkai and the one
of the last of her kind. Like myself. Fated to exist alone in a setting era of
mythological creatures, only conjured in the minds of children and historians.
She was dark, passionate with few, feared by many. She was very powerful.
Possibly as powerful as myself, and I use that word strongly, possibly I mean.
She casually unlocked her front door, she paused a moment in the doorway and
then shut it. She didn't lock it. That was my cue.
She walked into the living room and set her bag on the couch. She quickly
touched her mouse and her desktop came alive.
"You have 3 messages." The computers sensual voice announced.
She walked over to the kitchen and opened the fridge, she pulled out a bottle of
Pinot Grigio and pulled two wine glasses from the cabinet. She poured two
glasses of the Italian wine and walked over to the computer. She placed one
glass on the coffee table and the other she took a sip from.
"If you think I'm going to bring it over to you, your sadly mistaken." She said
aloud. The sound was deafening in the already too quite room.
I watched her walk over to the window and open the curtains, revealing a
Tuscany style backyard with a beautiful view of the rolling hills and ocean
beyond. The sun kissed the sky in hues of red, gold, purples, and orange fire.
She never once looked at me during this charade. She merely went about her
business as if I wasn't really there. She moved across the tiled floor with precise
steps then casually she flopped into her modern black leather chair, the wine in
her hand only jostling but a few inches from the rim of the glass.
"So?" She suddenly asked.
"So what?" I replied.

"So what are you here for?" She frowned in a smirk.
I rose from my shadowed position against the frame of the hallway that flowed
into the, what some people might consider, the den.
"Can I not pay an old friend a visit?" I jested.
"Hah." She scoffed. "Friend indeed."
She got up and walked over to her computer, obviously checking the messages
announced previously.
"What are you really here for...Sesshoumaru?"
She looked straight at me as she said my name. It seemed to glide off her lips
with the simplest of eases. I had not heard her say my full name in decades.
She was indeed angry at me. But for what I was very unsure of.
"Oska?"
"Hmm?"
"What ever are you angry at this Sesshoumaru for?" I asked as I scooped my
wine glass from the table and moved to the chair she had just been occupying
not a minute ago.
"Humph, how easily we forget." She continued her search through her
messages.
The trouble with Oska was, she would always give time to those in need of it.
Although to whom she was giving it to was dependent upon what your status was
with her. If you were indeed her friend, you were given all the time that was
needed, if you were not, may Kami pity your soul as she left ashes in its place.
Her temper was hells fury ten fold. She could consume an entire village in her
anguish, and destroy thousands of armies with her vengeful wrath. She was
once such a supreme fighter. Always by my side in battle. She was my friend,
my one true confidant. Although she could be stubborn and brash at times, and I
despised her tastes and her sometimes rather exhausting behavior. She was
indeed one of the greatest youkai assassins I had ever known. I held her in high
repects. Youkai in this age either lived alone or packed in groups. The youkai of
now were mainly made up of the oldest and most powerful, some low levels still
survived, but their numbers were greatly depleting, for youkai loved nothing more
then the thrill of the hunt, whether it be in killing or cutting a deal. And the hunt
of today was human and youkai alike. I had long since given up the thrill, and
lived a far more peaceful life. Long forgotten were the days of power in strength
and ruling by iron fist. Today power was within money and big corporations.
Something I had obtained and mastered quite skillfully. I owned many
businesses, and many companies. Oska herself owned and shared many of

these same companies we helped create. The last time I had seen her was in
Tokyo, she was visiting an old mutual friend. He was a dragon youkai named
Sepherin, he was to be married to a water youkai named Saiko. The marriage
was deemed fit and was happily accepted by the majority of youkai society.
Oska had sworn it was arranged to create an alliance between the two demons
on the outside but on the inside something deeper was going on. She assumed
it to be a hoax on the part of the water youkai, and that Sepherin was indeed no
longer someone she considered a friend if he went through with this marriage,
she saw him as the fool of fools.
Oska was biased though. The water youkai had long ago killed her only sibling
Oskia, he was her twin brother. The water youkai had band together in groups
and extinguished her brothers flame fast and furiously. He was killed right in
front of her. She detested them for their viciousness and in turn became quite
the vicious vixen herself. She had destroyed a large majority of them in her
lifetime thus far, yet in the growing age vengeance upon them seemed distant
and as forgotten as her brother. Only to once again be ignited by a simple
marriage. The marriage! I had completely forgotten. She had yelled at
Sepherin, proclaiming that Saiko or Psycho as she preferred to call her, would
only turn on Sepherin and destroy what he claimed they had. Oska was fierce
and passionate with her friendships. They meant so much to her, at least, that
was the general idea she seemed to give off. But as of late I couldn't exactly
consider her to be too passionate regarding myself. Not that I was the least
disappointed in this. Oska was merely a friend, and more of a business partner
as of late.
"You're still upset over a silly marriage, that has been doing well might I add."
She snorted very unladylike while placing her glass to her lips. She rolled her
eyes for added dramatics.
"Sepherin is no friend of mine, like I said before, he is fooled, and his fate will be
determined soon."
"Always the little fortune teller Oska."
"Fortune? Never."
"Always pessimistic?"
"Sho, I would think by now you would agree with me in at least a small amount of
my pessimism."
I nodded with a slight raise of a brow, 'Sho', she was using that nickname again.
That was a very good sign indeed. Perhaps she wasn't quite as mad as I first
thought.
There was a brief silence until she rose from her desk chair and placed herself

on the small love seat beside me. Taking dainty sips of her favorite wine.
"So tell me Sho, what really brings you to my home. I've waited three days for
you to final y come in and reveal yourself."
I relaxed further into the chair, resting my hands on the arms. She casually
swung a jean clad leg over the arm of her love seat and gazed upon me with
those greenish-blue almond shaped eyes that held far more behind them then
she was willing to reveal. She was mysterious in her looks. She was born with
black-cherry hair that shined in the light an iridescent violet hue. She had cut it
slightly shorter then it use to be, and her natural straightness hung over her
slender shoulders, it was full and soft looking. She was a tall youkai, just nearly
under 6 ft tall. She was muscular and thicker then most youkai females. Yet she
held a tone figure that spoke of endurance and skilled training. She was indeed
a very impressionable female who could come off as very intimidating for the
average male. And very enticing for the stronger males. Although from what I
had known of her, she had never taken a youkai male lover. All her lovers were
of the same sex. She deemed males be far too arrogant in her opinion and she
never found one to be of the impressionable for herself. I teased at the idea.
There had been many that had crossed our path in our journey's and travels
together that I had found most appropriate for her. She needed someone to be
able to dominate her, yet she would complain that the better word would be
suppress. And she would walk away without another glance in their direction.
Together we had often been mistaken as lovers, but those who knew of us, knew
there was no such situation. She had teased once or twice but we never really
looked at each other that way. There was far too much about her that I detested
and could not find myself happily mated to one such as herself. And I believe
the feeling was mutual. She had made many attempts to throw her females in
my direction and on occasion a few men. I laughed at her boldness. This
Sesshoumaru was not one to enjoy the comforts and passion of a same sex
relationship. Indeed I craved the female body at times, and I satiated that
hunger with trips to several women I deemed worthy of the task. But I am
rambling, aimlessly. She had asked me a question and although time was given
freely by her, it was of the essence and if I didn't answer soon she would accuse
me of ignoring the question all together. As I thought about the question I truly
did not have an answer. So I blurted, yes, this Sesshoumaru blurted the very
first thing to come to mind.
"I was bored."
She laughed and took another sip.
"Boredom. Indeed that is a reason. A shitty reason, but a reason nonetheless."
She rose from her seat and walked over to the half empty wine bottle, she
poured the remaining contents into the glass and then proceeded to remove
another bottle from the refrigerator.

"Taking up wine tasting I see?"
"You could call it that."
She walked over and poured me another glass. She gently placed the wine
bottle and the glass on the coffee table in front of me and slowly knelt beside
me. Her eyes bore into mine revealing a small amount of fire within the pupils.
Her face inches away from my own.
"And what does Oska look like, the entertainment committee?" she whispered
seductively, then rose from her kneel and walked towards the stairs.
I watched her walk away into the darkening hallway, her curvy silhouette swaying
in the shadows.
"Where are you going?" I asked.
"I'm going to take a shower and get ready, I have a lady friend coming over.
Your room is the one across from mine, you'll find everything you'll need in there,
I have been expecting you Sho." She turned around and smiled as she walked
up the steps.
I listened as she did the routine of turning the shower on and then grabbing a
towel from the linen closet, then closing the bathroom door and getting in. I
walked into the kitchen and opened the fridge. Wine, Dakara water, and more
wine. Why was I not surprised. Adjacent to the fridge was another small
refrigerator, it looked to be a wine chiller of sorts. And of course more wine was
within, along with a fine assortment of beers.
Sigh
She knew me well. She had some of my very favorites within the collection. I
pulled a Kirin out and rummaged through her drawers for the bottle opener. I of
course was more then capable of barbarically removing the top with own bare
hands, but being in the presence for so many years among humans I had
developed certain habits that actually hid my strength and youkai traits well.
Including a masking of my marks and crescent moon. Oska also had learned
such abilities. Hidden so well in the human world. They were stark reminders of
who we were and and who we weren't. I ceased my findings and opened the
bottle myself. The smell of lightly brewed ale of Japan wafted into my nostrils
and the first ice cold splash of beer against my tongue caused my taste buds to
salivate at the tease. Needless to say I had finished nearly all the Kirin before
she had finished her freshening upstairs. She came down in a different pair of
jeans, more faded then the last, they hung on her hips and flashed a smal view
of her toned and slightly muscular abdomen. She wore a black lace top that
criss-crossed along the breasts and tied with a satin black sash on the side, the
long sash strings hung carelessly at her waist and bounced with the sway of her
hips with each stride down the stairs. Her hair was freshly washed, blow dried, it

seemed she had curled the tips for slight body effect. She looked quite
delicious.
Wait a second? Had I just thought that? Perhaps I have had too much to drink.
"Well it seems you've found the cache."
"Indeed."
She walked over to me, her hand gently caressed the side of my face. I was
startled by her touch, causing my mask to falter a little.
"Let me see." She whispered.
I knew what she wanted. I dropped the mask completely. She smiled as she ran
her fingertips along my crescent moon and my magenta stripes. Her fingers
were smooth and soft. Her eyes trailed along my cheekbones and then to my
eyes. Her eyes looked so large and innocent in that moment, so full of longing
and affection, hints of sadness blended the crashing blue and green of her iris's.
"I've missed these beautiful markings." She mused.
As intimate as the mood was becoming it was quickly replaced by the soft
rapping at the door.
"Hmm, seems my delicate little flower has arrived." She smirked looking over my
stripes again as her fingers moved away from my face. She walked over to the
front door and invited her flavor of the week, or perhaps month inside.
The woman was slightly shorter then her. She had dark brown hair with blond
highlights, it was layered from the looks of it, she held it up in an over-sized clip
that hung in the middle of her head. She had soft features. Large brown eyes
and smooth pouty lips. Her slender frame was fashioned in low hip hugger jeans
that curved around her thin hips, she wore a tight tan tank top that rose just
above her naval. She was darker and seemed to be of a Mexican ethnicity. Her
skin glowed in the now false light of the house. She was very appealing for a
human. Oska always did have taste when it came to her female lovers. I
couldn't help but find them both incredibly sexy as they embraced and shared a
most sensuous of kisses. So it seemed this one already knew the heat of Oska's
bed. It seemed Oska favored this one. She treated her sweetly and seductively.
Hiding nothing from her or myself. Or maybe she had just gotten that much
more naughtier. The latter was very probable. Oska had no shame when it
came to sex.
"Sesshoumaru, I would like to introduce you to Marlena, Marlena this is a very
old and very close friend of mine."
I gave her the evil eye for the "old" part, she knew I despised being called old.

She smirked at me with the devilish gleam in her eye.
"It is very nice to meet you Sessho..."
"Sesshoumaru". I repeated for her. Most foreigners always had trouble with my
name, it was habitual for me to repeat my name, habitual and very annoying.
"Sesshoumaru, what an interesting name." She smiled.
"Indeed."
Oska laughed and pulled Marlena into the kitchen.
"Sesshoumaru we are going to go for some drinks at a local bar would you care
to join us?" Oska asked innocently.
Now I knew where she was going with this. She merely wanted to tantalize me
with the Southern California atmosphere, and all whilst driving her to their local
destination. I gave in rather quickly for I already knew what she was going to say
as she did, and literally on whispered lips I finished her sentence.
"You did say boredom..." She smiled with a raised eyebrow.
How was I to protest the truth. She always caught me within her web. I honestly
had been bored, and I figured what better way to cause havoc in my life then pay
a visit to Oska. I do think she put Caligula to shame at times.
And so with wallet in hand and two beautiful women in tow I headed towards my
recently purchased black Mercedes AMG, and hopped in for a night of
gallivanting. I felt like a free body guard on display, I even opened the car door
for each of them. Oska sat up front with me, which I found interesting, I could
have sworn she would sit in the back as if I was the black hatted chauffeur.
As long as this city had tasteful music and made good strong drinks then I might
be inclined to have a good time.
