A/N: I don't own Inuyasha.

Kagome walked slowly into the middle of the ring, her tail swaying nervously from side to side behind her. She had to fight Kikyou. A tiger demon! Kagome's ears flicked as she looked up at the very angry demon in front of her. 'Who am I kidding? I'm just a house cat against her!' Kagome turned to run when she heard it.

"What's wrong? 's the little kitty running home with her tail between her legs again?" Kikyou taunted.

Kagome flexed her claws and tried to brush the comment off. She cracked her neck and her tail quickly wrapped around her waist as she turned around. "What was that?"

Kikyou walked forward until she was only a foot away and looked down at Kagome. "Coward kitty run home," she mocked. Kagome launched a punch directly at the tiger's stomach but was caught by the wrist. "You can't hurt me," Kikyou flipped easily over Kagome while still holding her wrist and pulled it behind the felines back before pushing her forward, effectively breaking her arm in three places.

Kagome hissed in pain and fell to the ground. Kikyou laughed at her handywork and turned to face the cheering crowd. Kagome let out a small hissing laugh and Kikyou turned around. "What's so funny?"

"Idiot tiger stupid," Kagome mocked, straightening out her broken arm. There were a few cracks before it became completely silent and Kagome was able to move it completely.

"No way!" Kikyou backed away. "You're not supposed to be able to do that!" she hissed. Kagome just laughed and jumped to her feet.

Kagome cracked her knuckles as she moved forward. Her eyes flashed red as she threw punch after punch at the defending tiger. Although Kikyou was able to block all of the attacks, she was unable to stop Kagome from turning full demon. "Time to go!" Kagome pulled back her fist and threw it forward into the tiger's stomach, sending her flying far away from the ring and into a brick wall. The tiger left a dent as she dropped to the ground.

The speakers flickered to life in the backround and Kagome's eyes turned back to normal. "Winner! Kagome Higurashi. New PL 73. New rank 42/150." The speakers died.

Suddenly, Inuyasha appeared in front of her. "Nice work." He looked over to the nice round hole in the wall where Kikyou had crashed then to the tiger that was now on the ground shaking and coughing up blood. Nobody seemed to care. They were just going about their business and seemed to be making a point of ignoring her.

The speakers came to life again. "Inuyasha Taisho versus Kouga Wolfe." (A/N: had to do it)

"Time to go," Inuyasha looked at Kagome who seemed to be preoccupied with the abandond tiger. "Go, see what you can do. I have a match. If you need help, you know where I am." Kagome nodded and walked slowly toward the injured tiger.

She stopped about a foot away from Kikyou and frowned when the tiger tried to get up, only to cough up another half cup of blood and fall back to the ground. "Don't get up!" Kagome grabbed a towel from a nearby table and tried to move closer to the tiger. Kikyou growled and bared her fangs menacingly. "Will you shut up and let me help you!" Kikyou fell silent and just stared as Kagome lifted her up into a sitting position and draped the towel over her shoulder before lifting her up.

"Why are you helping me?" Kikyou looked up at Kagome, defeat marking her face.

"Because I was the one who did this to you. For that I'm sorry," Kagome said, walking slowly toward the school building.

"You won. I've lost my reputation and my friends," Kikyou looked away. "You don't know what it means to win or lose in this tournament do you?"

Kagome looked down for a moment at the tiger's face before shifting her attention back to the ground in front of her. "No, why don't you tell me?"

Kikyou sighed. "If and when you lose you lose your rank and your PL. Everyone loses their respect for you and they become what you used to be-."

"Unpopular?" Kagome cut off.

"I was going to say exhiled, but that works," the tiger joked weakly.

"What happens if you win?" Kagome asked. "I mean, if you're willing to risk all your friends, it must be something important."

"That's just it. If you win you become like Yash. He's been the champion for the last two years," Kikyou smiled at the thought. "He's got all the friends, all the popularity, and all the suck-ups he could possibly want."

"So you're risking all your friends for a few more?" Kagome asked, she found this idea kind of stupid.

"You don't understand. If you win this thing, people are constantly trying to be your friend for the rest of your life. No more having to work for the things you want. They just come to you."

"I thought it was only for people from this school," Kagome said, walking carefully into the infermary.

"It is," Kikyou said as Kagome began slowly lowering her to one of the beds. "You have no idea how many of us there are do -oof-."

"Oops, sorry," Kagome said, setting one of the pillows under Kikyou's head.

"Don't worry about it."

"You were saying something about me not knowing something?"

"There are hundreds of demons around New York alone that look human, but are actually demons," Kikyou said, looking up at the ceiling. "Most are rich. Like, for example, Donald Trump."

"...so if you win this tournament you're popular with them too..."

"That's one way to put it."

"Hi everybody!" Both felines turned to see a young girl with red hair walk in carrying an older man who seemed to be unconscious.

"Ayame," Kikyou greeted with a nod.

"Hi." Kagome watched as the girl dropped the man onto the bed and walked over to where they were sitting.

"So how does it feel to have difeated the almighty Kikyou?" she asked, completely ignoring the tiger demon.

"She's sitting right there," Kagome said, slightly annoyed.

"Oh, hey Kikyou. I didn't see you there," the wolf said with a wicked grin.

"The stupid and the blind," Inuyasha sighed, walking into the room.

"Which one's which?" Kagome smirked.

"She's got duel personalities," Inuyasha said, rubbing his forehead and motioning to Ayame.

"Hey!" The redhead puffed out her cheeks. "That's not cool!"

"I didn't see you competing," Kagome said accusingly.

"I just got my nails done!" Everyone turned to see if the girl had been serious and she turned red. "I'm, uh...just kidding. He..he." She tried to fake a laugh but failed miserably.

"Sure," Kagome matched Inuyasha's smirk almost exactly and Kikyou let out a choked laugh causing blood to come from her mouth. "You okey?"

Kikyou wiped her mouth with the back of her hand and nodded.

"So Yash did you lose any powerlevel?" Kikyou asked, looking down at the large amount of blood covering her arm.

"Let's just say that Kouga here's gunna be out for a while," Inuyasha said, pointing at the black-haired wolf demon on one of the beds.

"I didn't know Kouga went to our school," Kagome said, remembering the dinner party she had gone to with Inuyasha.

"He did a while ago, but he was expelled when he tried to kill Inuyasha over a girl that Inuyasha didn't even like," Kikyou explained, looking over to Ayame pointedly. Everyone turned to Ayame again and she turned an even darker shade of red.

"I had no idea!" she looked over at the sleeping male. "It wasn't until I figured out that Yash already had someone that he liked that I learned of Kouga's little fight with him. That's when we started dating."

"And by the size of the mark on your neck, I'd say you were mates," Kagome observed.

"Yep! Just like you and Inuyasha," the girl beamed.

"Hm..." Kagome looked over at Inuyasha who was resting his chin in his hands and staring back at her.

"So, Inuyasha, it looks like it really pays to be one of your students," Kikyou laughed before choking again.

"I'll just leave," Ayame stood up and scurried toward the door, obviously smelling what was going on.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Kagome looked from Inuyasha to Kikyou.

"Kikyou used to be just like you," Inuyasha explained. "She was lost by her parents when she was just a cub and never learned how to use her powers," Inuyasha looked as if he was trying to remember something. "Two years ago, when I got here, she was shy, isolated, and quiet-."

"Just get to the point Yash!" Kikyou growled, cutting him off.

"I taught her how to use her powers for a few weeks, but before I could finish she left."

Kagome looked down at Kikyou who was staring off into space. "Why?"

"That's none of your business!" the tiger snapped. She turned her head to look at Inuyasha. "It looks like I was wrong, huh?" Inuyasha didn't answer. "Explain to me one thing Yash," she said in a low voice. "How did a girl with a power level of 0 suddenly jump to a level 110?"

Kagome looked from Kikyou to Inuyasha, her eyes turning into a ping pong ball game. "But, the top power level is 100!" Her eyes stopped at Kikyou.

"Then there's demons with special training and abilities," Kikyou began, not taking her eyes from Inuyasha. "You can heal at an extreme rate. That would put you in that catigory." Kagome's tail flicked before quickly wrapping around her waist, waiting for a fight. "So, what is it, Yash?"

"I didn't do anything special, I just ignored the pain and faught," Kagome argued, fear filling her eyes.

"Hold out your arm!" Kikyou hissed. Kagome quickly did as she was told. "Any demon would be out for at least two hours with an arm that was busted up as bad as yours was!"

"But-" Kagome looked to Inuyasha who just shook his head.

Kikyou looked back up at the cieling and frowned. "Stupid little girl."

"What did you say?" Kagome growled. Without warning, Kikyou rolled off of the bed she was on and tackled Kagome to the ground.

"I said you're a stupid little girl!" The tiger growled, wiping the blood from her mouth.

"You have no proof that I'm one of these 'special demons'!"

"Close your eyes!"

"What?"

"I said 'close your eyes!" the tiger hissed, barring her fangs. Kagome winced and quickly did as she was told. "Now think about getting rid of this pain." Kikyou hissed softly in the girls ear.

Kagome's ear flicked in annoyance. "What p- AAARGH!!!" Kagome choked as a clawed hand was thrusted through her thrusted through her stomach and pulled out almost instantly. "What the hell was that for," the girl panted, trying to struggle out from under the older feline.

"Do it!"

Kagome opened her eyes to see that Inuyasha was now standing over the two cats, looking down at them. His features showed that he was mildly interested. Kagome gave in and closed her eyes again. A few seconds later, there was a flash of blue light and the weight of Kikyou's body was removed from her body.

"You did it." Kagome opened her eyes slowly to see Kikyou and Inuyasha standing over her, staring down at the spot where she had been clawed. "You're healed," Kikyou said, smiling as she held out her hand. Kagome looked up at the tiger with questioning eyes. "Don't worry. I'm fine." Kagome nodded and hesitated before grabbing the older womans hand and being easily pulled to her feet.

"How'd you do that?"

"You weren't the only one who got healed just now," Inuyasha said, taking a step forward. "Appearently you can heal those who are within contact of you too."

A/N: And the chapter ends with a really crumby line...interesting.
