A/N: As you know I had to skip a chapter. It was just a lemon so you didn't miss any of the story. If you really want to read it, you know where it is. I don't own Inuyasha...
Kagome woke up with a tiny flick of the ear and turned over in Inuyasha's arms. She looked at his now naked body and put two and two together. 'So, it wasn't a dream...' she moved her hand silently up to the base of her neck, right above the collarbone. She felt nothing. 'He didn't mark me,' she thought sadly. A small tear made it's way down her cheek, leaving a short vertical line of moisture in its path.
Inuyasha's nose twitched and his eyes shot open immediately. "Kagome? What's wrong?" He looked around the room quickly for the cause of her distress.
"Nothing. Don't worry about it!" She turned over and curled herself around one of her pillows.
He looked down at her and took a deep calming breath before prying her gently from the pillow. "Kagome, talk to me," he growled softly.
She looked away diffiently. His eyes widened as a realization hit him.
He smirked and moved her so that she was lying on her back. "I know what's wrong," he said leaning toward her neck. "And I know what you want." She mewed in pleasure as he nibbled gently at her neck. "But, the question is, do you?" He moved away from her, listening to her whin of displeasure.
"I-i want you!" She yelled after him as he stood up to walk toward the bathroom.
He turned his head to look over his shoulder. "No...I don't think you do." He walked out of the room.
Kagome sat in the bed, motionless until a small meow caught her attention.
He's trying to protect you. Kagome looked down to see her kitten sitting next to her on the bed. I can smell the strong scent of fear coming from him.
Kagome looked back up at the closed doors, her expression becoming more worried by the second. But, what's he afraid of?
The kitten shook her head. I don't know, but I did find something in his office that might be a clue.
Show me. Kagome fallowed the kitten down the hall to a locked door. She used one of her claws to pick the lock, then opened it. The room looked a lot like the principal's office except there were no windows. Kagome walked into the room quietly and closed the door behind her.
Over here! the kitten called, hopping up onto the top of one of the desks. Kagome walked over to it and looked down at the long object, covered with a thin cloth.
Kagome carefully pulled the cloth up and off of it to reveal an old looking sword. It was rusted and seemed like the blade was damaged badly. She cocked her head to the side curiously. This was her first time ever seeing a real sword. She moved closer and inspected the weapon, inch by inch. She knelt down and rested her chin on the desk surface, starring at the sword for a few seconds before reaching her hand up to touch it.
Yellow sparks flew out of the blade and hit her hand, sending flying through the air and into the opposite wall. She cried out in pain as she dropped from the large hole in the wall to the floor below and, only second later, the door smashed open. Inuyasha ran into the room looking first at Kagome, then the rusted sword.
"YOU IDIOT!" he roared, running to the sword and quickly covering it up and placing it inside his safe. He slammed the safe door and spun the lock before smashing his fist through the wall. "GET OUT!!!" Kagome scurried out of the room, not bothering to stand up. As soon as she was out of the room, she stumbled to her feet and ran toward her room, tears flooding her eyes.
She was a few doors away from her own when one of the butlers turned a corner and they slammed into each other. The man, along with the trays he had been carrying, went dropped to the ground and Kagome tripped, hitting her head on the wall before falling down herself.
"Lady Kagome! Are you alright?" the man ran to her side.
Kagome just nodded slightly, trying to stand up. She winced and let out a small mew of pain before dropping back to the ground. The older man lifted her up, carrying her carefully toward her room.
"Master Inuyasha I presume. Is he off on one of his fits again?" the man asked politely. Kagome nodded slowly. "Don't mind him. He's just a little stressed. He just doesn't know what to do with it. He ends up just releasing as anger." Kagome looked away. "He cares about you," the older man said as he turned and opened the door to her room. "He just doesn't know how to show it." Kagome looked up at him hopefully. "He thinks he's helping you by keeping you in the dark," the man sighed, placing her down gently on her bed. "He thinks he's protecting you," the man said as he walked toward the door. "He doesn't want you to get hurt. Not like last time," the man said. Kagome detected a hint of sadness in his voice and her ear flicked in confusion.
She grabbed one of her pillows and curled herself tightly around it. A few seconds later, she had cried herself to sleep.
An hour later, Inuyasha opened the door quietly and walked into the dark room to find Kagome sleeping peacfully in her room. He walked silently to the side of her bed and petted her hair gently. Kagome just flicked her ear in annoyance. He then moved back slightly and tried to pry her out of her death grip around her pillow. She only wrapped herself around it tighter.
"Kagome?" The young cat demon hissed at the sound of his voice. "Please. Just listen," he whispered quietly, smiling softly when her ear shifted back toward him. "I-i'm sorry for not telling you the truth. You diserve to know," he said sadly. She rolled over so that she was facing him, looking into his eyes hopefully. In the dim light, her eyes seemed to become bigger. He smilled at the cute look on her face. "Not so fast my curious little kitten," he scratched her ear softly and smiled as she purred and leaned into his touch. "You need to understand something," he said as his smile quickly vanished. "You're in danger as long as you're around me."
Kagome unwrapped her self from the pillow slowly and sat up on the bed, her legs bent at her sides. She reached up slowly, hesitating before, touching his cheek. "Inuyasha. I won't leave you." She leaned forward and planted a small kiss on his forhead. "Just like you didn't leave me," she whispered into his ear softly.
"You are the second reincarnation of a preistess named Kikyo," the hanyou started, his voice, a soft whisper. "Kikyo lived over 600 years ago..." Inuyasha continued on to explain the story of himself and Kagome as they traveled throughout Japan, searching for the jewel shards. "...the last battle was a great one," he said sadly. "Miroku, Sango, Shippo, and Kirara were destroyed along with Naraku's incarnations. We still don't know how, but he was somehow able to control Kikyo with his last jewel shard. I destroyed the others just as Kikyou hit me with a sealing arrow." He looked out the window. I was awakened a year ago by Kaede Miko the Twelfth. She had been visiting her homeland when she found me. She was able to free me and here I am now, with you." He looked back down into her confused eyes.
"How can you be sure that I'm Kagome's-?"
"You don't understand. The jewel. The one thing connecting Kagome to me. It was inside you!" Kagome looked down at the place in her abdomen wher the jewel had once been. "Kagome, listen. I wasn't brave enough to ask you back then." Kagome looked back up into his pleading eyes. "So, I'm asking you now. Will you be my mate?"
"Oooooh..." she moaned as the hanyou licked and nipped at her throat, just above her collarbone. "Y-yes. D-do it now!" She gasped in pleasure and wrapped her arms around the back of his neck as the hanyou's sharp fangs burried themselves deep within her flesh. They stayed that way for a few minutes as her wound began to heal and he pulled his fangs out of her. The bite mark healed quickly and was replaced by a scar.
He looked down at the scar and smiled. "Mine," he whispered, leaning down to kiss her.
"Inu...Inuyasha...tired...sleep..." she whispered before falling unconcsious in his arms.
"Kagome?"
Kagome woke up the next morning and felt the arm around her waist tighten. As Inuyasha pulled her closer to him from behind. She rolled over and kissed pulled him into a deep kiss that lasted nearly three minutes before they pulled back. Kagome looked up at Inuyasha who was breathing deeply as if still asleep.
"Inuyasha?" she said weakly.
"Hm?"
"I wanted to know. Was Kagome a priestess?"
"Yeah."
"W-well then I should have inherited her powers. Right?" Inuyasha looked down at her.
"Not completely true." She cocked her head to the side in obvious confusion. "You're a demon," he explained. "You can't have her powers. If you did, you would have purified yourself."
"Oh." Her ears flattened out in dissapointment.
"Doesn't matter kitten," he said softly scratching the area near the base of her ear. "You're purfect just the way you are..." he looked away as if becoming uncomfortable.
"What's wrong?" she asked, casually nuzzling his neck.
He chuckled softly. "Heh. It's just that, that's something she used to say."
"Kagome?"
"Yeah." The cat demon looked up at him with a small hint of sadness in her eyes.
"Inu-"
"No, kitten, you're not a replacement. Don't ever think that. Ever!" he growled softly, hugging her to his chest.
"But, how'd you-?" she looked up at him in annoyance.
"She used to think I was using her as a replacement for Kikyo." He scratched her ear while looking up at the cieling.
"Were you?"
"No." She watched as his eyes gained the same shine as when he looked into hers. "She was always speciel to me. As you are." She purred softly in his arms. She stoped, though, as he stood rolled off of the bed and stood up abruptly, walking toward the door.
"Inuyasha? Where are you going?" She watched him as he walked to the door and opened it.
"I'm going to finish it!"
A/N: Only a few chapters left. Don't worry. If you guys review, I'll make them good ones.
