Disclaimer: does it look like I own Inuyasha? Nope. No Inuyasha. Too bad. If I did own Inuyasha, I would now be in Florida drinking martinis instead of here in sweet home Pennsylvania drinking warm sodas. I do have, ummm, 62 cents and a tweety bird sticky. YOU CAN'T HAVE THEM!! So, yea. Please don't sue me! I don't have nuttin!

A/n: I don't know a lot about Inuyasha because I've never seen the show, I've only seen the movies, so if something's wrong, could you please tell me politely and I will change it *apologies in advance*. Also, because this is my first fanfic could you please review (not flame) and have constructive criticism! Please don't just say 'this sucks' even if it does, which it probably does…but anyway, review. If it's good, tell your friends!!

CHAPTER 1:

~~~Kagome dream~~~
Kagome looked around, peering into the darkness surrounding her. Her raven black hair moved slightly in the breeze and she shivered, trying to protect herself more from what felt like cruel wind on her bare skin. "Hello," she said quietly. "Hello? Is there anyone here?" She slowly turned, trying to see any hint of light. She squinted as the room was suddenly flooded with light. Her eyes adjusted to the brightness surrounding her as she took in the amazingly ornate art on the walls. Her attention was particularly drawn to a painting on the far wall. Pictured on it were two men. The first man was quite obviously a demon, the other looked like a half-demon. They were surrounded by a large crowd of yokai brandishing large swords and battle-axes.
Kagome rubbed her eyes and looked down. She looked back up again. "Wait. Is it just me or did that picture just change?" She looked more closely and saw that, in fact, the picture had changed. The demon was slain, his own sword plunged into his chest. The half-demon leaned heavily against a tree. He was surrounded by five yokai who were ready to strike. She looked to the top of the picture and saw a great swarm of insects swirling around the form of a demon. He had a wicked smile on his face while his hands gripped a sword. He stood ready to strike.
"What do you want?" Kagome said. She heard footsteps behind her and she spun around to see a man. The man had black hair and dark brown eyes. He was wearing a black rob with red trim. "Who are you?"
"I am Naraku. Haven't heard my name before?"
"No," Kagome said after a slight pause. In the awkward silence that followed, Kagome found herself seeing many similarities between Naraku and the strange man in the picture. They had the same hair and eyes, plus they had the same basic build. "Are you the man from the picture," Kagome questioned. She examined his pale skin and yellowish teeth. She stared into his eyes, wondering what he was thinking.
"Tell me what you are," Kagome ordered him.
" Your human mind will not be able to comprehend what I am, not even with the help of your miko powers."
Kagome said nothing. 'What did he say? Miko? What the heck is that?'
"The time has obviously come," Naraku said. Suddenly his skin started shifting, almost melting. He ripped his shirt off, the buttons scattered on the tile floor. She watched as his body changed, his legs turning into many tentacles and his eyes glowing a deep red.
Kagome took one step backwards from Naraku, who was obviously a demon. But before she could pull out her gun, Naraku shot her.
"You stupid bitch. You should never have gone against my plan," Naraku said quietly. Naraku changed back into his human form, then walked away swiftly, his footsteps echoing in the large room.
~~~end Kagome dream~~~

Kagome awakened to find herself sitting on a bar stool in the middle of a mass of dancing people.

'What is up with that? It may have been a dream but it sure seemed real. Oh well, it's probably nothing.'

Her attention was drawn back to the present by a girl. "Sango? Is that you?"

"Kags! I didn't think you were going to come." Sango was dressed in a red strapless dress with a very low neck, exposing just enough cleavage to be sexy, but not sluttish. The dress reached just above her knees, where it met her black leather boots. Her black hair was pulled back into a messy ponytail with a few tendrils of hair framing her perfectly formed face. "What are you doing here anyway?"

"Nothing really. I was wondering if I could talk to you about something."

'Oh, please, let her be free. I feel so, so strange. What is up with this stupid dream anyway? This must be at least the third time this week. What is a miko? Why can't I find any reference to it anywhere?"

"Maybe later. I'm kind of busy right now." Sango turned and crooked her finger as if to say 'come here.' A man came over. He had black hair that was pulled back into a ponytail at the nape of his neck. He was wearing a black business suit. He had a huge smile on his face.

"I was wondering when you were going to call me over here," the man said. He leaned down and softly brushed his lips against Sango's forehead. "Milady," he directed towards Kagome. He bowed low and kissed her hand.

'I think this guy is right for Sango,' was all that Kagome could think.

"This is Miroku, we met a couple weeks ago in a bar. We talked for a few hours and…here we are." Sango grabbed onto Miroku's arm with one hand, and pulled his head down to hers for a quick kiss. Miroku reached down and grabbed Sango's rear, pulling it towards his crotch. "You pervert. Stop," Sango exclaimed in a very threatening manner.

'Maybe she didn't after all.'

" I think I should be getting home about now." Kagome turned to leave and realized that she didn't know how to get out. "So where's the exit again?"

"It's over there Kagome." Sango pointed somewhere to her left. "Hey Miroku, could you get me a drink?"

"Sure, anything for my girl." Miroku's face looked disappointed, but only for a second. He walked off to get some drinks.

"What kind do you want?"

"Anything will work. Whatever is cheapest, I guess." Miroku walked off, pausing once to ask directions.

Once Sango was sure that Miroku was out of hearing distance, she commented, "You seem a little out of it today, Kagome. Are you alright?"

"Yea. Yea, I'm fine. I'm just…tired. That's all."

"Alright, since you're sure." Sango reached out and squeezed Kagome's hand. "Well, in that case, I guess you should get home, get some rest, you need to take better care of yourself."

"See you tomorrow, then," Kagome asked.

Kagome headed out in the direction she thought would lead her out, squeezing between the people that somehow managed to block her every path. She finally saw the huge double-doors over near her right. She turned so that she was headed straight towards it, when a man suddenly walked right into her.

"Watch where you're going you stupid girl," the silver-haired man said. He glared at her. Her eyes met his, and she glared back. She stared deeply into his eyes. After what seemed like an eternity, the amber orbs looked down. A slight blush appeared on the man's face, but he feigned a yawn to hide it.

"How dare you tell me to watch where I'm going? I was just walking towards the door, when you walk right into my way. It was not my fault. I should be telling you to watch where you're going, not the other way around," Kagome said, almost screaming.

She started to walk around the strange man. "Fine, just look where you're going from now on," the man added.

"We just went through this, I was looking, you weren't," Kagome replied. "By the way, what's your name?"

"You don't know, do you," Sesshomaru asked, almost wearily. Kagome nodded her head, no, and he muttered something Kagome could not quite understand. He continued, "It's Sesshomaru. Sesshomaru Tashio."

"Alright. I'm Kagome. Kagome Higurashi."

Kagome stepped around him, once again headed towards the dark metal doors.

"Stupid mikos," Sesshomaru muttered under his breath.

"What did you just say?" Kagome asked astonished.

"I didn't say anything; at least, nothing to you. Why would I be talking to you, anyway? What could I say that I would need to say to you? You stupid girl."

Kagome's eyes flashed and she raised her hand. Before she could stop herself, she drew her hand back and brought it towards his face with all her might. "You idiot! You stupid freaking idiot! How dare you call me stupid? Not only once, but twice!" Before her hand could reach his face, Sesshomaru caught her wrist. Kagome, finally realizing what she had almost done, breathed in sharply.

"We should take this outside," Sesshomaru said with a slight smile on his face.

"Fine. Maybe we should," Kagome said. Her eyes still blazed against Sesshomaru. 'How can he be such an asshole? He is such a good example of men.'

Sesshomaru half dragged Kagome outside and pulled her into a black limo.

"What are you doing?" Kagome asked him. Sesshomaru grabbed her from behind and clapped his hand over her mouth, the other hand curled around her throat. It was so tight she could barely breathe.

"Shut up. I'm going to take my hand off, but only if you promise not to say a word. Not. One. Word. Got it?"

"Mmm-mmm," Kagome tried to answer. She realized it was futile, so she humbly nodded her head. Sesshomaru released her neck first, and then he reluctantly let go of her mouth.

"We're going to my mansion," he said. "Jaken, it is time to go." Kagome looked at Jaken, and saw that he looked like a fat toad-like man. He seemed to hang onto Sesshomaru's every word, and as far as she could tell, he followed his every order without question.

'Okay. First, I should assess my situation. I am alone in the car with two strangers: a man I just met and another man, whom I am assuming is his driver. I am not restrained, but I am sure that I would be easily overpowered if I tried to escape. I have to try, so I can't mess this up.'

Kagome casually started to stretch her arms, and she fell asleep, leaning against the door. She tensed her muscles, preparing for what she was planning to do next.

'This is probably the stupidest thing I have ever done.'

She closed her eyes and pretended to fall asleep. She then, ever so slowly pulled up the lock button. She suddenly opened the door and jumped out. She landed hard on her stomach and lay there for a second. She looked back and saw the car skidding to a stop and Sesshomaru jumping out. She jumped off and began running into the woods.

'Thank God I didn't wear heels today.' Kagome ran until she could barely breathe. She collapsed onto the ground and fell fast asleep.

She woke up to complete silence.

'That's odd. I am in the forest, shouldn't there be birds or animals, or at least some kind of noise?'

Suddenly, she heard a sound. However, it was not a sound from the forest, it was the sound of machinery, which was being dragged across uneven ground. Kagome sat up quickly and started to walk away. Soon the sound of machinery was joined by the sounds of footsteps. Those footsteps got louder and increased in number.

Kagome felt she could hear her heart beating. Ba-boom, ba-boom, ba-boom, ba-boom. She started to jog, and then run through. She was at a full sprint when she found herself sprawled on the ground. Her ankle was twisted underneath a root and it was all she could do to keep from screaming.

"Well, well, well. What do we have here?" a strange male voice said.

"Mmmmmm. Who are," Kagome's voice faded out. "Who are you?" she barely managed to say.

"None of your concern. I'm here to help you."

"Thank you." Kagome's eyes closed as she lost consciousness.

She opened her eyes and quickly closed them. From what she had seen, she was in a hospital, which was very bright. She opened her eyes, much more slowly this time, and tried to sit up. She looked down and saw that her foot was in a cast suspended in a swing.

"Doctor," Kagome tried to get someone's attention. "Nurse. Anybody."

'I wonder if there is anyone here after all? What if I'm here all by myself? What should I do?' Kagome was just about to risk walking on her ankle, which was obviously broken, when all of a sudden a man wearing a white jacket came into the room.

"Hello, Kagome."

"Ummm…hi. Where am I?" Kagome asked. 'How did he know my name?'

"You are in…" the doctor said. He inserted a very dramatic pause, and then continued, "what is now known as 'Hell Hospital.'"

"What?" Kagome said. She was still not quite right from the drugs she had presumably taken for the pain, so she couldn't think quite right.

"I said, you're in Hell Hospital."

"Whaddya mean, I'm in hell hospital. For one thing, a hospital can't be hell; and two, if this is hell, then where are the demons?"

"Milord, I think she is ready to see you in all your glory."

"Good. I was hoping you would say that."

The door to Kagome's hospital room opened widely and Naraku walked in. He was still human, but to Kagome he looked extremely demonic. His black eyes seemed to drown out the hint of white at the edges, and the black robes only added to that strange effect.

Kagome screamed as loudly as she could, and Naraku backed up slightly, suddenly afraid of the damage the high-pitched sound might make.

"Would you shut up," the doctor said, annoyed.

"Make me," Kagome said in a mad and half scared as hell voice. The doctor looked at her as if she was crazy and started laughing like a maniac.

"Woohoo. Hahaha. She thinks that she can…hahaha…my lord, should we make her? Hahaha."

"Shut up. Both of you." Naraku said. His eyes glowed red for a second. 'Am I losing control. How is this stupid wench able to make me change back so easily?'

"Kagome. You will not defy me any longer," Naraku said. He looked over at Kagome and saw that although she had not responded with words, or even visibly retreated, she had not moved any closer. He saw that she seemed to be peaceful.

"Kagome." Naraku said, much more forcefully this time. "Kagome, I don't want to lose my patience with you." When Kagome still didn't move at all, Naraku went over to Kagome and was about to harvest her soul when he noticed that she was asleep.

'I can't do it while she's asleep. She cannot get a peaceful death. I want to see her scream. I want to see her torment.' He left his robes billowing out behind him. He turned down the hall to the next room.

"Your turn." Once he said that the poor woman screamed. She was suddenly surrounded by a purple shield. It looked strong enough to withstand anything, but obviously, it wasn't strong enough to withstand Naraku. Naraku changed back to his demon form and lifting up his hand, he shot red fire that was flecked with blue. The woman screamed as her shield was destroyed. The woman somehow managed to create another shield, it was much weaker, but it might protect her.

Naraku raised his hands into the air as red energy began to form. A large ball of red and black energy rose above his head. He lowered one hand, taking about half of the energy and threw it at the woman. With the leftover energy, he created a cage-like structure, which proceeded to float above his head. He held out his hand as a great wind came about. He whispered some indiscernible words as his hair whipped around his face.

Suddenly, the woman screamed in agony. She bent over, trying to control the power inside of her. She rose up to strike, still bent over.

"This is not the end. There are more. We will destroy you," the woman said.

"You foul miko. How dare you contradict me!" Naraku's voice started low and went higher until he was screaming. He looked like a foul creature, a demon not worthy of living in this world. He leaned his head back and cried out. The woman's body went rigid as a purple substance oozed out of him onto the floor. It flew over to where Naraku stood, who started laughing like a maniac.

"Almost enough power to fuel the beast. Almost enough power to crush that fool Sesshomaru and his stupid half-brother. I have the right to take what is mine!" Naraku raised up his hands and sand to his knees. He prayed to every god that he could think of, that he would overcome all of his problems, and start a new era. He would be lord and master of all things in the new era, including Sesshomaru.
