Something woke Gypsy from a dead sleep. She was still nestled against InuTashio's chest, a guilty pleasure they had both been indulging in lately. At first she thought it had been him snoring, but that wasn't it. Laying still, she listened to the noise again and this time she heard it. The whole house rumbled and continued to rumble as the earthquake worsened. Things leapt from their shelves and Inutashio rose with a start.

"Get the children," he snapped, hurrying into a robe and down the hallway towards Rin's room.

He met Sesshomaru and Kagura in the hall with Bankotsu and Jakotsu, Shiori and Jace ran to Gypsy shrieking. Rin was already in her safe place, against her daddy's shoulder. Inutashio led his family out into the yard as best he could as the ground vibrated sporadically under them, paling once his nose caught the breeze, he knew this was no ordinary earthquake.

A cloud of purple Miasma rose from east, illuminated by thousands of tiny lights that symbolized demons being loosed on earth. Naraku was rising from the core of the earth, so it seemed.

Inuyasha and Kouga stood before the beach house, eyes wide and mouth hanging open. Inuyasha had Tetsaiga but it seemed so useless against Naraku, who seemed to be growing larger every moment. Around him glowed a barrier, protecting him from the ring of demons that were surrounding him.

"Kukukuku," he mocked. "I finally am free and I will now take over the modern era as well as the feudal, ruling the world!"

"We can't take him like this!" Kouga yelled over the roar. "He's too fucking big!"

"Scrawny loser." Inuyasha muttered, the size didn't bother him, the barrier did. The misguided hanyou pounced on the glowing barrier and was hurled backwards a good seventy feet.

"Stupid whelp, none of you can take me, mwhahahahahaha. This world will be ruled by me, Naraku, and my band of demons." His booming voice sounded more like a cheesy tape recording now as the puppet lost strength.

Sensing that there was danger to Inuyasha, Gypsy left the pups with Jaken and Kirara, and followed by Kagura, Sesshomaru, and InuTashio she charged for the beach house. Inuyasha smelled his family coming and jumped to his feet, wielding tetsaiga in front of him with as much dignity as he could in his boxer shorts. He'd not been prepared for the arrival of a demon he'd assumed dead by now.

Naraku whirled around with a burning gaze falling on Kagura and her mate. "Kagura, my sweet child, you have come to me again."

"Never!" Sesshomaru's voice didn't even raise a level, he removed Tokijin from his waist. Kagura took a step behind him, shivering in fright. Kagura's slightly swollen belly grazed across his lower back, reminding Sesshomaru why he had he had to kill Naraku this day.

Gypsy moved to Inuyasha's side and steadied him on his feet. "It's not Naraku, it's a puppet!"

"I know, but even that's dangerous if I can't get inside the barrier." He panted. "Gypsy-- look out!"

It was too late, the puppet had shot out with a tentacle and sent her flying across the yard and against the house with such force some of the siding fell down. Angered now, Inuyasha turned to Naraku, raising his sword, "Backlash wave!"

Sesshomaru, realizing his poison energy whip would do nothing to this being, shoved his mate aside and attempted to cover her, but the ground shook violently. The barrier had no demonic aura and the wave only bounced off and flew uselessly into the sky.

Kouga used the distraction to get Gypsy to her feet, but she needed no help. She'd already started to glow. Naraku's baboon pelted puppet began to swell then, the skin bubbling underneath as if something alive sought to get out. It did...

The barrier started to crack down the sides, like the breaking of a shell. Soon it fell away altogether and left Naraku exposed. Inutashio appeared at Inuyasha's side and plucked from his hands the tetsaiga.

"Wind scar!" Inutashio bellowed, slamming the swollen blade into the ground and sending it straight at that puppet, which ripped to shreds, leaving behind a swollen pouch on the ground.

All eyes were on the leathery looking thing left behind by the demon puppet. Inutashio growled. "Get back, that things gonna blow--"

The last of that was blurred out by the roar of 1000 demons bursting forth from their 'egg'. Kouga and Inuyasha jumped into the fray swiping with claws and fangs, destroying some but not all of the demons. The rest escaped into Hollywood and surrounding areas.

"We must get back to the house and protect the children!" Sesshoumaru darted away, carrying Kagura with him.

"Where's Jace and Shiori?" Inuyasha suddenly said looking frightened.

"With Jaken and Kilala! Let's go." Gypsy turned and followed after Sesshomaru.

The press played off the attack as an earthquake but the demonic sector knew better. Kagura was inconsolable again and Sesshomaru was growing close to his wits end. His bad nerves were not being helped by the whining of the children who wanted to go out and play in the sunshine.

The area around the beach house was closed off, which meant that Inuyasha was stuck at his fathers. He sat now across the dining table staring at his mate, lost for words. He wanted to apologize, and he wanted even more to beg her forgiveness but he couldn't. His pride wouldn't let him.

She looked pale, her eyes that were usually so bright and pretty were dull and tired now. Her scent was off to and he noticed this now. "Gypsy?"

"Mmm?" She looked up tiredly, her fingers shaking around the spoon she stirred the coffee with.

"What's wrong?" His voice was so unlike his, it was gentle and soft, not rough and husky.

"I don't know, I think I hit the wall harder than I thought." Gypsy rubbed her lower back which had started a painful ache.

"You have been with him haven't you?" Inuyasha suddenly became interested in the can of soda in front of him.

"Who? Your father?" She knew there was no need in lying. "Yes. Once or twice."

"I have to confess I was with someone else too," he blushed, not sure why he was telling her this.

"Who?" Her brows knitted together and then went shooting up when she caught the scent on him. "Kouga!?"

"Don't say it so loud." He frowned, "We were both drunk and-- it felt good."

"Inuyasha, I thought after you found out about, ya know, Jace-- you hated Kouga." She stared at him in disbelief.

"We talked about that and as much as I hate to admit it, he was right about something. That night Jace was conceived was as much my fault as it was his, we weren't mated and well-- damn it, Gypsy, forgive me," he said with a sigh.

She nodded, leaping across the table to wrap her arms around him. "I do, Inuyasha, I so. I love you and-- I wanna work this out."

"It's already worked out," he muttered into her hair. "Now where are my kids?"

He had sensed them outside the door a moment ago, so he gave them a reason to burst into the room. Shiori leapt into his lap first, ignoring Jace's growling at her to move, and wrapped her arms around her father's neck. Inuyasha winced when she pulled some hairs and leaned over far enough to pull Jace into his lap on the other side.

"Were you two good for your mother while I was gone?" He asked the two wide eyed pups seriously.

Jace nodded, "Yes I was but Shiori was whiny."

Inuyasha stared at him, he'd be five soon, and he'd changed seemingly over night into a full ookami. "Well maybe she had a reason. Didn't you baby?"

Shiori sat down flat then on Inuyasha's leg and smiled. "I missed you daddy. Don't go away anymore!"

Gypsy shot him a look that said she was thinking the same thing. The silver haired hanyou nodded, "I ain't going nowhere, ever again. I won't leave you."

"Promise me?" Jace quizzed eyes wide and moist.

"Yes." Inuyasha rubbed the wolf cub's ear. "Now let's have lunch."

While the kids ate, Gypsy looked over at Inuyasha, "You don't think its over do you? You think Naraku will be back?"

He nodded between bites of Ramen. "He left demons here as a distraction, which means we gotta find and kill 'em."

She nodded, "I'm gonna come help."

"Ya damn right you are." Inuyasha glared at her. "Ya think I'll leave you alone in a house with my father with the full moon coming?"

She blushed, the full moon brought her heat with it.
