Hojo did sleep in a separate bedroom. He asked no questions in why she asked for this. He just thought she needed some alone time for herself.

 

He lies on his bed. He was thinking about his lovely Kagome. In truth, he doesn't like sleeping alone. He wanted Kagome to be in his arms and smell her sweet hair.

 

He was thinking about his son, Shippo. He never really thought about having a son, especially with his sister. But, he was glad that he now has an heir to the throne.

 

But, he felt that he was whole. He felt that everything is well.

Kagome was in her room and it was early morning. The ray of sunlight hit her eyes. She woke up. She sat up on her bed and the passing memories of the day before went through her mind. She started to sob. Kagome knew that she had to tell her husband sometime, but she wasn't sure if she had the strength and courage to do it.

 

`What will he think of me? Will he still love me?' she thought.

 

Kagome went straight to her bathing chambers. She dismissed her servants that were always there to wash her. She told one of them to tell Kaede to not come in.

 

She went into her tub and started scrubbing her skin with her cloth hard. Her skin started to turn beet red.

 

“Dirty, dirty, I am a dirty girl. I am filth; I am polluted; unclean. Hojo will never love me, no, no more,” she kept telling herself. The attempted rape broke her spirit. She tried not to let it happen, but it did.

 

Her skin broke slightly and it started to bleed. She ignored it. In a way she felt that she was alive. Since her skin was so raw from being in the water for so long, she took her long nails and sliced her skin so she can see herself bleed.

 

When she thought she was in the water long enough, she went out and grabbed herself a towel. She rushed into her bedroom and put on a light dress. She looked at her arms and decided to put on a sweater to hide the cuts.

 

Kagome walked into the dining hall and saw her husband. He looked at her and Kagome gave him a small smile. She went around the table and sat next to Hojo.

 

“How is my sunshine this morning?” he asked as he wrapped his arm around her waist.

 

“I am doing fine, my lord,” replied Kagome quietly.

 

Hojo rolled his eyes. “You don't have to call my, my lord. I told you that before my darling.”

 

Kagome lowered her and mumbled, “Yes, Hojo.”

 

Hojo could feel that there's something wrong with his wife, but he let it fly past him. He thought she would get better throughout the day.

 

After breakfast, Kagome started wondering the halls. She went into Sango's room to brush her hair.

 

“Hello Sango,” said Kagome. She walked towards her cousin that was already sitting in the chair, facing the mirror.

 

Kagome saw the broken mirror. “My goodness, what happened? Ah, I guess I'll get another one for you. I guess something was bothering you, eh Sango?”

 

Sango didn't reply. She just looked like she was in a daze.

 

Kagome grabbed a brush and started brushing her hair. “Oh Sango, something horrible happened to me yesterday while I was out riding. I was kidnapped and was almost raped. It was so disgusting! I am glad that InuYasha saved me. I am not sure how I can ever tell Hojo.”

 

Sango didn't say anything. After an hour, Kagome left her cousin's room and wondered the halls again. She walked passed InuYasha's room. She stopped right in front of the door and started to stare at it. Kagome started to feel her heart beating faster and faster. Her stomach started to flip over and over.

 

She raised her hand and knocked the door quietly. She waited a few minutes and was about to walk away when he door opened. In front of her eyes stood InuYasha.

 

“May I help you my queen?” asked InuYasha.

 

“I, I was wondering if you have any information on Shippo,” she lied. In fast, she wanted to make love with him.

 

“I have no information besides that he's a real nice boy,” he replied.

 

Kagome nodded her head and said thank you. She walked away, cursing herself for not taking him right on the spot. But what she was feeling for InuYasha felt wrong to her. She is married and already making love to a man she loves. Can she love another man? Is it wrong to love another man?

 

Kagome walked to the outdoors and saw Shippo sitting on a hill. Kagome took a deep breath and walked to him.

 

When she arrived, she stood behind him. “Hello Shippo, what are you up to?”

 

Shippo looked at her with wide green eyes. “Nothing Your Majesty. Nothing really important.”

 

“Oh, well, do you mind if I sit here beside you?” she asked.

 

“No, not at all my queen,” he replied.

 

Kagome sat next to him and started to think on what to talk about. “Do you like it here?”

 

Shippo looked at her and said, “Yes, I do. It's more lovelier than Hong Kong.”

 

The queen nodded her head. Then she asked, “What is your mother like?”

 

“Well, she is a very nice woman and she treats me very well. I miss her,” said Shippo. He doesn't really miss her since Kikyo flies from Hong Kong to Japan very often.

 

Kagome nodded her head. All of a sudden, she saw a raven fly above her head. Shivers went down her spine just the day before. Could it be the same bird?

 

“Oh, I, uh, must go my queen. I'll chat with you again,” said Shippo and bowed, then ran off over a hill. Kagome sat there, watching him disappearing over the distance.

 

Few minutes later a voice asked, “Hello my child, are you fairing well?” It was Kaede and she sat next to the queen. Kagome knew it was about the attempted rape.

 

“I am well, thank you. I am recovering slowly but gradually,” the queen replied.

 

“Are you going to tell the king?” Kaede questioned.

 

Kagome shook her head, “No, I am not. He might go in a rage and will send guards to go with me every time I want to be alone. Also, I am afraid what he might think of me now. Oh, Kaede, I will hate to keep it from him, but it feels the right thing to do. Do you understand?”

 

The old nurse sighed. “Whatever you think is best Your Majesty, but I must disagree with you.”

 

Kagome knew that the old nurse was right. But, she will keep it from him.

 

“I must go Kaede, there are many things to do. I will summon you if I need something,” said Kagome and she left the old nurse alone.
