The trumpets were heard and the king and his guards were riding their horses. The castle was standing outside in the front. The queen was there with InuYasha on her left side, Kaede on her right. Shippo was on Kaede's other side. Sango was in her room. Everyone knew that the king would rather not see her on his day back.

 

Hojo jumped off and everyone bowed before him. He went straight towards Kagome and held her.

 

“I am so glad that I am back so I can hold you like this and take in your wonderful scent. I have missed you my wife,” said Hojo.

 

Kagome stiffened a little. “And I have missed you too my husband. I am glad that you are back.”

 

Hojo smiled and looked at his servants. “I hope everything went well while I was out.”

 

“Everything went well, my lord,” they all chanted.

 

Hojo grinned and started to stalk off into the castle. The servants went and followed to resume their duties. Shippo walked off to wherever he wanted to go. InuYasha did the same. Kaede stayed by Kagome's side.

 

“Kaede?”

 

“Yes, my lady, what would you like?”

 

“What would you do if you fell in love with someone else while you think you still love the person you first fell in love with?” asked Kagome.

 

Kaede looked at the queen in a strange way. “Well, I don't know. I have never been put in that position before. I guess you just have to follow your heart.”

 

The queen thought over what she said. Follow you heart? Well, her heart belongs to two men. Hojo and InuYasha. What can she do?

 

Kagome shrugged if off for now and went inside the castle. She had to prepare a feast for her husband's return to the citadel. She went straight to the kitchens and ordered what was to be done that night. All of the cooks went straight to work. They gathered all of the ingredients and went to the small farm by the stables to kill some chickens, geese, and pigs.

 

Kagome left the kitchen and went to the dining hall. She picked out the cloth that will be on the table and the napkins. She chose out the tableware and what kind of music that will be played and entertainment.

 

After this was all done, she went to her chambers to get ready. She wore a maroon kimono that had dark green waves that went from the bottom to the knees. She had an amber obi that was tied around the waist. Around her neck was a golden necklace her husband gave her. It had a sun dangling from it. Her hair was in a messy bun, with strands besides her face.

 

Kaede came in and applied light makeup. Kagome doesn't like wearing a lot.

 

“Are you ready, my queen, for the dinner?” asked Kaede.

 

“Yes, I am,” she replied and stood up. She exited out of the room and walked towards the dining hall. She stopped in front of two heavy doors that were guarded by two men. They bowed before her and opened the doors.

 

The music was playing and drunken men were laughing. Juggling and fire eating people entertained the guests. She saw serving women being groped by the men. Kagome actually saw them having sex in the far corner. This was a normal feast, it happens every time.

 

Her eyes scanned the room and saw her husband laughing with InuYasha. She walked over towards them. She sat next to her husband and Hojo put his arm around her waist and pulled her body close to his. He wasn't drunk since he didn't like to drink much, but InuYasha was.

 

“Thank you so much for this great welcoming feast,” Hojo told his wife.

 

Kagome gave him a smile and said, “You are most welcome. You were missed when you are gone. We are grateful that you are back.” She lowered her eyes. She was half telling the truth. She did miss him, but then she didn't.

 

Hojo grinned. His wife always knew the right words to say to him. That's one of the qualities he loved about her. He kissed her forehead and resumed his conversation with his drunken friend. Kagome looked at her plate of food that was served to her by a servant. She found herself that she wasn't that hungry.

Shippo looked around the loud room. `Stupid people, they get drunk, puke, and act like nothing bad has happened the next day. I am out of here,' he thought.

 

He stood up and walked to his room. Shippo found his mother already sitting on the bed.

 

“Hello mother, why are you here?” he asked her as he walked to her, kneeled, and kissed her hand.

 

“I am here to tell you that I am working on a potion that would make you a little more older. Once I am finished, I will give it to you. I am making it so you will be old enough to fight him. Since you are ten years old, you probably won't succeed,” Kikyo explained.

 

Shippo nodded. She was right, on the age part. He has to be older to battle his father for the throne.

 

They did the bed ritual. Kikyo kissed her son good night and left to back to Hong Kong to finish the potion.
