Naraku Onigumo was in seventh heaven. They had done it!! After almost twenty years they had successfully cloned a full-blooded youkai, and it hadn't turned out a monster. Everything was perfect, from the hair to the claws, to the markings on his face.
Cloning a full blooded youkai had posed some unexpected problems, the main one being the humanoid body confusing itself with the genes from his bestial transformation. The product would often turn out to be a deformed mix of the two forms.
No more; this one was perfect.
Naraku smirked to himself; only twenty years ago he had been sitting in prison with a life sentence on his head for human/youkai rights violations. He had incurred them with his genetic engineering experiments; which were trying to recapture the transformation abilities that were lost when the full blooded youkai died out.
Practically all of his attempts had failed due to the fact that they were working from scratch, with no genetic basis to work from. The full bloods had died out before the science of genetics had even come into being, so none of their blood had been preserved, until now. The discovery of the blood-splattered sword was a godsend.
Naraku's mind flitted to the one experiment where he came very close. Experiment “IY 7”, had been what was known as a full hanyou. A full hanyou meant the person had one full blood parent. Full hanyou had practically everything that the full bloods had, except for one very important thing, the transformation.
However, this full hanyou brought them so close to what gave the full youkai the ability to transform into giant beasts. Unfortunately, only a week after “IY 7” had awakened, Naraku had been arrested and thrown in prison supposedly for a life sentence.
But it seemed that fate had taken Naraku as a pet. After only thirty years of imprisonment, he was released. And to further the irony of the situation, he was released by the same military force that had put him in prison and they wanted him to continue the project that had put him there in the first place.
Naraku loved such irony, even more so now when it benefited him, like now. Apparently some hack archeologists had been digging around Mt. Fuji on earth, and just by chance discovered a sword with blood splattered from a full blooded Inuyoukai on it. Fortunately the military had been there to confiscate it or the fools might have scraped it of, thinking it was rust.
Naraku gritted his teeth at the thought of the greatest discovery of the age, being so carelessly handled. No matter, the sword, blood and all were safely kept behind a shield of glass, heavily armored double coded doors, of which, only he and General Kagura knew the codes.
It had taken twelve months for the youkai clone to grow into adulthood; the age youkai had been when his blood had been spilt on the “Tenseiga.”, the sword that had been found on Mt. Fuji. The twelve month growing period for this youkai was three months longer than the growing period for “IY 7” had fifty years ago, and “IY7” had awakened and functioned perfectly after that. Now the full blooded youkai clone, which Naraku had christened “IY14”, would be fully mature in a couple days, and then “IY14” could be removed from the liquid and be allowed to awaken. Then would come the fun part, studying a being that had gone extinct for almost six hundred years ago.
Naraku smiled and leaned his head against the pale green tinted glass of the containment tube, gazing up at full blooded youkai that for now floated gently in the life sustaining liquid. “IY14” was perfect. Everything from the silver hair, to the green claws, to the stripes on his face, to the crescent moon on his forehead…

“What are you doing?! STOP!!”
“WHY!? WHAT HAVE I TO LIVE FOR!? SHE IS GONE FROM ME!! MY IMMORTAL BELOVED!!”
“SESSHOUMARU!!”
IY14 opened his eyes.
This scent was all wrong; it was supposed to smell of wood not of metal. What was wood? What was metal?
The floor was metal, the walls were metal. Metal like Tenseiga. No, not like Tenseiga, Tenseiga was sharp, the floor and walls were not.
What is Tenseiga? Sword?
Yes, Tenseiga was a sword, so it was sharp metal. The floor was not a sword, so it was not sharp.
IY14 sat back on his haunches and surveyed his surroundings. The room he was in was all metal and it felt wrong to him. He did not know why it was wrong; he just knew it wasn't right.
A clanging sound struck his ears and he turned to see a segment in the wall open up and others entered the room.
Youkai? No, not youkai. Not Humans either. Both? Yes, both. What was the word? Hanyou, yes hanyou.
He watched them carefully, and automatically tensed his muscles to be ready just in case. He did not know if they were dangerous, but he did not know if they were safe either. His first thought was to attack, but decided to hold off and wait, and observe who these “others” were and if they posed a threat to him.
One of the hanyou, dressed in dark, midnight blue approached him. Judging by the scent, IY14 found this hanyou was male and was slightly more youkai than human. Another hanyou, dressed in the same blue, approached him, staying just behind the other one. This new one was also male, but slightly more human than youkai. He carried a dark gray metal object with him.
A Sword? No, it was not sharp enough to be a sword.
IY14 waited.
“ All read-outs are nominal, no organ deformations, cell count is normal, no evidence of malignancies. He seems to be in perfect health,” Kanna said as Naraku looked through the medical results.
“Excellent.” Naraku smirked as he looked from the papers to the one way window looking into the lab where Kohaku was examining IY14's eyes and ears.
So far IY14 had been very docile through all of the tests and examinations, but as a precaution they had shackled his hands. IY14 had expressed his displeasure at this, by giving the guard a glare that would send shivers through an icicle, but otherwise made no violent move of protest.
“Since he is being so cooperative,” Naraku smirked, giving the file folder back to Kanna, “I think I should like to meet him face to face for the first time.”
IY14 snapped his head up as the door to this new white room opened, and thankfully stopped the increasingly irritating examination of his ears.
He quickly looked over the new entrant, and immediately took a dislike to him. But “dislike” did not seem a strong enough word. For each moment that IY14 stared at the newcomer, smelled him, and felt his youki, the hate began to boil in IY14's blood, making him want to bare his fangs, and use them to tear out the newcomer's throat, though he could not pinpoint why…
Things might have been alright if the newcomer had kept his distance, but unfortunately, the newcomer chose to walk up and practically stick his face into IY14's.
“You're going to make us all very proud,” the newcomer sneered.
That did it. The newcomer's sneering voice was more than IY14 could take. This being had to be destroyed.
Everyone watched in shock and horror as IY14 snarled viciously, broke the shackles around his wrists and sank his claws into Naraku's shoulders.
The guard at the door rushed in, raising his shock rifle and firing, just as IY14's fangs stood poised to tear into Naraku's throat.
The electric waves hit IY14 hard, sending him off the exam table, and crashing to the harsh metal floor below.
“It's all right I'm fine!!” Naraku shouted, frantically looking at IY14 for any sign of life.
For one terrible moment, it seemed twenty years of work had been dashed, by one pull of a trigger. Then very slowly IY14 raised himself to his hands and knees. He was shaking and trembling, but very much alive.
“Quick, get the tranquilizers,” Naraku ordered. As happy as he was to see IY14 was alive, he did not like the idea of being under the clone's claws again.
Apparently IY14 had a nasty streak, but then again he was a full-blood youkai. Naraku berated himself for underestimating him. Well, he would not make that mistake again. Naraku hoped that they would not have to keep IY14 on sedation all the time, as this would cut down on their ability to see the true nature of a full blooded youkai, but if constant sedation was the only way to control him, so be it.
IY14 turned his head, his long silver hair covering everything except for his eyes, glaring straight at Naraku. The golden orbs held a fathomless hate and loathing for the one they held in their view….
