Chapter 7
“The storm is almost on top of us sir!” the tech shouted to General Kagura, who was wearing a ditch in the floor from her pacing.
“Is it enough to knock out all power?” Kagura slammed her hands on the control panel.
“Yeah. But it should only last for ten minutes until the storm passes over us,” the tech quickly assured.
Ten minutes is plenty of time if the security restraints go down… Kagura thought bitterly.
“Send a message down to the labs. Tell them to make sure IY14-” Kagura was cut off when the room went black. The hum of the computers reverberated then died out.
Too late…

Naraku's heart stopped as the lab was plunged into darkness.
The electrical storm. I'd forgotten…
“Kanna? Kohaku?” Naraku turned around, and met a pair of beautiful, but deadly golden eyes.
IY14 was free…
No sooner had the chief science officer come to this conclusion when he felt something crash against the side of his head, and he was thrown into a blackness deeper than the lab could ever have been.

“MIROKU!! I AM GOING TO KILL YOU!!” Sango screamed at the top of her lungs. The only thing holding her back from strangling the man sitting in the co-pilot's seat next to her were the seatbelts strapping her to her own seat.
When the electricity went out and their ship went dark, Miroku had taken the opportunity to grope his co-pilot. Unfortunately, Miroku had not anticipated the lights regaining power in only ten minutes. To him it had only seemed like ten seconds. When the lights came back on, Sango found Miroku's hand on her breast.
The screaming that ensued made Shippou wince, Kagome call Miroku a “perv” and Inuyasha place his hands over his sensitive ears to keep out the noise. Rin was the only one who did not seem to take notice of the commotion; instead she gazed in unfocused sorrow at the floor.
IY14…
If only there was something she could have done to help him escape from that hell he was a prisoner in. But what could she do? She was lucky enough to get her self out without being caught, much less trying to escape with the research facilities main project.
Rin sighed dejectedly and turned to look at the commotion between Sango and Miroku.
Miroku made a brilliant diversionary tactic to avoid being torn apart by the raging Sango; he pressed the communication button that would connect him to the monitoring techs in the compound.
“Hey, this is Miroku of The Midoriko. Now that the storm has passed, we don't want to miss the orbital opening, requesting permission to depart.”
“Processing, just a moment…” the tech answered over the link.
“Permission, granted…”
The ceiling of the docking bay opened up to reveal stars, fogged by swirling dust and water from the raging winds outside.
“All right, let's kick it!” Miroku made to turn the launch thrusters on, when one of the warning lights blinked and beeped. “All right who forgot to close the hatch on the cargo deck?”
“That can't be, I closed it myself.” Kagome furrowed her brow.
“Well obviously ya' didn't,” Inuyasha snapped, as he unbuckled himself from his chair. “The goddamn hatch a hundred times, I tell ya'.”
When he finally got down to the cargo deck it was like a wind tunnel brought about by the atmosphere rushing into the now open docking bay. The hatch was wide open as if someone had opened the door, but had not made an effort to close it again.
“Christ, Kagome, it's dead obvious you didn't!” Inuyasha held back his hair with one hand and pressed the button to initiate the hatch closure.
He waited till the hatch was fully closed before letting go of his hair. Now that the cargo deck was protected from the roaring wind, a strange scent entered his nose and an eerie feeling of being watched made the hairs on the back of his neck prickle and his ears perk up in alert.
“Inuyasha! Get your ass back up here so we can leave!” Kagome's voice rang through the communication link.
“If it hadn't been for you my ass wouldn't be down here in the first place.” He stormed up the stairs.

When they were well into space, and the autopilot had been turned on, many chores had to be done. First, Miroku got a thorough smacking upside the head. After that was completed, everyone went down to the cargo areas to take inventory on surplus items and things to be delivered, as well as making sure all of the storage boxes were intact.
Inuyasha felt a chill run down his spine. Not so much from cold, but the strange scent and the eerie feeling came back to him. He hated that feeling.
Once again he again put it to the back of his mind when he noticed one of the storage boxes was out of place; in fact it was across the deck from where its empty slot was. He growled and stomped over to it.
Must of become unattached during take off…
With some effort he managed to get between the wall and the box so he could push it back to its slot. When they were empty, the boxes were not that heavy, it was just they were too large and awkward to pick up, but pushing them around was quite easy.
Inuyasha looked around the box to make sure he was aiming it right into the slot. It was then he noticed something, curled up in the slot. Inuyasha quirked an eyebrow, and stepped forward to remove whatever it was. As he drew closer he could see it was a person sitting there curled around a sheathed sword. As he drew closer still, he realized this was not a member of his crew.
He was about to call out, “What the hell are you doing here?”, when his mind registered the features of the stranger, and his breath caught in his throat. His logic centers began to go crazy as he tried to figure out how this whole situation was possible. In the meantime his subconscious took control of his voice, and manipulated his lips to whisper…
“IY14…?”
