InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Protective love ❯ Chapter 4

Inuyasha stood motionless. He did not know what to make of this. There were too many new things, too much emotions. He had never been good with emotions. Inuyashas mind went blank, but then an inner voice spoke to him.

 

// There have been many enemies assured they would conquer over you. They were all wrong. Being assured you can do it does not mean that you can. If you try, you might get Kagome to live. You want Kagome to live. Don't mind wether you will make it or not. Try and find out. Go make Kagome live. //

 

Inuyasha wasn't aware of the fact that he was moving. He did not know the others moved away to give him space. He did not know he sat down and pulled Kagomes seemingly lifeless body into his embrace. He did not know until his senses trembled at the presence of a stronger power than anything he had ever met.

 

// Kagome, is that you? Is that your love? // he asked silent.

 

A tingle in the forcefield confirmed him that it was.

 

// I'm here, Kagome. It's time for you to wake up. //

 

This was responded by joy - all to quickly followed by doubt. Inuyasha could read the emotions as easily as any scent, and was overwhelmed when a rush of sadness and fear flooded him.

 

// He will go to Kikyo. He can never forget Kikyo. I can never have him, it will always be Kikyo! //

 

// No, Kagome, it's not like that! //

 

Inuyashas inner scream was met with more turmoil. The power was chrushing him under its heavyness.

 

// This has been said before, and he is never true to his words. I trust him, but on this part, he always leaves me for Kikyo. He keeps giving me hope and then he leaves for Kikyo! //

 

// Kagome, please, listen! //

 

// I cannot live like this. I cannot stand it anymore! He will always love Kikyo more! Even now when Kikyo is dead he turns to her and away from me! //

 

// KAGOME!!! //

 

Inuyashas yell forced the wrathing emotions to calm down and the preassure on him eased. He kept his eyes closed and was aware of the great power with every nerve, knowing it could crush him - even if he did not completely understand what was going on.

 

// It's true that I love Kikyo and I will always love her. //

 

Inuyasha gasped for breath as the heavyness plunged onto his back and windlike rage tore his sides. He bent forward to protect the shell of a human he somehow knew he had in his lap, unaware of that the danger and the human was one and the same.

 

// Kikyo was my first true love, nothing can ever change that. I loved her much enough to want to become human for her sake. But that doesn't mean I don't love you! //

 

Inuyasha screamed out in the raging storm of emotions, trying to be heard, to reach the Kagome he knew behind this shield of anger and fear.

 

// KAGOME! You know I love you, you know it! Isn't that why you could forgive me everytime I went to Kikyo? Isn't that why you wouldn't let me hear of this hazard plan of yours - because you know I love you and I wouldn't ever let you go through with it? //

 

The raging did not cease. The crushing power was too heavy on his back, the emotions so mixed it almost made him sick. He was short of breath, but still Inuyasha gathered his strength and yelled:

 

// I AIN'T GOING TO LEAVE HERE WITHOUT YOU SO YOU MIGHT AS WELL KILL ME RIGHT AWAY! EVEN IF YOU DO I WILL STILL LOVE YOU, KAGOME!!! //

 

Suddenly everything was still around him. Inuyasha kept his eyes closed as Kagomes emotions whispered one last thing before returning to her body, giving her life.

 

// Kill you? I could never kill you. I wouldn't even seal you. My love is much more purer than... Kikyos.... //

Sango, Shippou and Miroku came fast crawling on all fours when Kagome took the first, deep breath. Locked into Inuyashas tight embrace she moved ever so little, lifting her head up to rest on his shoulder. Inuyasha continued to hide his face in her hair, not responding to his friends outbursts and refusing to let Kagome go. But soon, Kagome lift her head completely and turned to see her friends. With a typical Kagome-smile, she greeted them:

 

“Hi guys! Long time, no see!”

 

Shippou jumped up in the air and rushed to Kagome, hugging her head since that was the only part of her he could reach.

 

“Kagome! Kagome, you're back, Kagome!”

 

“Yes, Shippou, I'm back.”

 

“Oh.”

 

Sango pulled herself into Miroku and gave him a fierce embrace. With tears dropping she said:

 

“I would've hugged you Kagome, but Inuyasha seems unwilling to move.”

 

“Just leave him be”, Kagome answered. “I gave him a hard time.”

 

She said nothing of the tears that was wettening her hair and shoulder. Instead she leaned forward and embraced Inuyasha back, holding him close and hiding his tears from the world. His grip told her very well that he would never let her go again. Kagome whispered softly:

 

“Inuyasha, I love you...”
