InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Puppy Breath ❯ Wish ( Chapter 1 )
"Bitch, ya ain't leavin' and that's final! We got shards to find!" shouted the silver-haired hanyou.
"I can do whatever I want, Inuyasha! You have no control over me!" yelled the raven-haired schoolgirl.
They were nose to nose; the electricity was almost visible as it cackled and sizzled between them. A safe distance away stood their friends, watching in silence, their eyebrows raised in wonder.
Inuyasha smiled cruelly and said, "Wanna bet?" With that, he grabbed her wrist and yanked up to his side. He turned his attention to the others and nodded in the direction opposite of the Bone Eater's well.
"C'mon, lets go." He turned and walked off, dragging a fuming, screaming, and fighting miko behind him. Miroku and Sango glanced at one another then followed after their friends.
"Inuyasha! Let . . . GO!" Kagome stomped on the dog demon's foot.
"ARGH!" Inuyasha cried, letting go of her as he grabbed his foot and hopped around, cursing. Kagome dusted off her skirt.
"Goddammit, Kagome!" cried Inuyasha, slamming his foot hard into the ground and glaring heated daggers at her. "Just what the hell's the matter with you, huh?!"
"I have a major exam coming up this Friday and I need to get home and study!" she shouted, throwing daggers right back at him. Inuyasha sneered.
"That's all you ever do, wench! You would rather study for a stupid test than help search for the jewel shards! The jewels are much more important than your damn exams!" Kagome's face slowly started to turn a light shade of pink from anger.
"That's not true, you jerk! In my time, tests are very important! If I don't pass them, I get bad grades, and if I get bad grades, I may not pass school!"
"Does it look like I give a shit if you pass or fail school? I bet you're failing anyway!" He smiled coldly at her shocked expression. Must of hit a nerve there.
Sango stepped forth, planting her foot down hard.
"Inuyasha!" she snapped.
"But out, Sango," he snarled. He crossed his arms and narrowed his golden eyes. "I don't know if you've noticed, Kagome, but failing a test isn't going to end the world like Naraku will if he gets his hands on all of the Shikon jewels! So, why don't you stop being a bitch and start playing your part in this search!"
"I can't believe you," Kagome hissed angrily. He watched her turn and run off in the direction of the well.
"Hey! Kagome, get the hell back here!" Inuyasha shouted, taking a step forward but was stopped by Miroku's staff that whipped out in front of him. "What the-!"
"I think it's safe to say you hurt her feelings, Inuyasha," the monk replied calmly.
"Excuse me?!"
"If you haven't noticed, Kagome is torn between both her world and ours, but she's trying to make the best of it by helping us while also taking the time to finish obviously needed tasks in her world," Sango replied, stepping up next to Miroku. Kirara mewled softly as she walked up to them, Shippou following her.
"Yeah, if you would quit being so mean and self-centered all the time, you would see that Kagome is doing the best she can!" he said angrily in his high childish voice.
"That's right," replied Miroku. "She can't just stay here because you want her to, Inuyasha. She has other things that are also important to her and school I obviously one of them. I'm not one to stand in her way, and neither should you."
Inuyasha just stood there, glaring at them, then he looked down at the ground, his anger directed on himself. They're right, he thought. I have been a selfish jerk all this time haven't I? Of course Kagome is doing the best she can, and a lot more than I had ever expected from her! God, I've been such an ass to her! I gotta go apologize before she leaves!
"Inuyasha?" Miroku said curiously.
"I'll meet you guys back at Kaede's," he said quietly then ran off after Kagome. Miroku and Sango watched as the hanyou disappeared over the hills.
"Why do we put up with him?" voiced Sango. Miroku shrugged, his hand creeping to her bottom.
"I'd say it's because he's our main defense." Sango nodded.
"Yes, that is one of the main reasons I gue- MIROKU!"
SMACK!
"Argh," Sango growled as she stomped away from the monk with a red handprint on his face. He just smiled and followed. Shippou shook his head and mumbled, "He'll never learn."

I hate him, Kagome thought. I hate him, I hate him, I hate him!
She ran through the thick forest, jumping over small rocks and tree roots. She shoved away low branches as she passed them. All she wanted to do was get on the other side of the well.
Breathing hard, Kagome staggered up to the edge of the well and braced her hands against it, her head lowered and eyes closed.
She hated it when Inuyasha always made a big deal about her going home. He was oblivious to the fact that she did have a life, a family, and responsibilities for being a teenage girl!
"Stupid jerk," she growled, opening her eyes. Well, no more. She wasn't going to put up with his shitty attitude anymore! She wasn't a servant to be ordered around, and if she were one, she would certainly not follow his rules!
"Kagome!"
The young schoolgirl tensed visibly. She didn't turn around even when he ran up to her side. She just glared down into the dark depths of the well, waiting for him to say something so she could have an excuse to blow her top.
Inuyasha opened his mouth to say something when he saw her dark expression. Her brown eyes were narrowed and her mouth was placed in a deep scowl. Man-oh-man did he really push her this time. Well, best swallow his pride and get it over with.
"Kagome, I-" he started, his face soft and apologetic. But Kagome suddenly snapped her gaze up at him and he could have sworn he saw fire leaping up in those chocolate-brown depths. He took a step back on instinct. He'd never seen her this angry before.
"I don't want to hear it, Inuyasha!" She said his name with such viciousness that he visibly winced. "I'm tired of you telling me what I can and can't do! You don't see me ordering you around on a daily basis!"
"Now, hang on! You do to!" he said, sneering. Kagome rolled her eyes and stomped away from him, throwing her hands up.
"Maybe, but only because you're a very impulsive person! Not only that, but you're such a jerk, especially to me!"
"Oh, yeah?!" was Inuyasha intelligent reply. Kagome whirled around.
"Yeah! All I ever try to do is be nice to you, but you rarely, if ever, return the gesture! You're like a small kid who is spoiled to the point where he can never be pleased!" Inuyasha narrowed his eyes to mere slits.
"Is that what you see me as?" he asked softly, his eyes cold and hard. Kagome nodded her head, then gazed at the ground.
"Yes, that's what I think you are. You always want me to stay here and continue to help search for the Shikon jewels. And you treat like I'm some property whenever Kouga is around me, when you have no right to ever act so cruelly to him because you're always the one running off to Kikyou when she appears!" She shook her head hard and she clenched her fists at her sides.
Inuyasha couldn't find himself to say anything. Did he really treat her like a possession?
"I'm tired of it, I'm tired of all of it!" Inuyasha snapped back to reality and saw Kagome glaring him down. Something started glowing at her chest and he saw it was half of the Shikon no Tama they had worked hard at taking. It was began glowing a bright pink, but Kagome didn't seem to notice it.
"And I'm so tired of you acting like a spoiled brat, Inuyasha!"
"Kagome-!" he said, running toward her, afraid something was going to happen. He wanted to get the necklace off of her before it blew up or something. Just as he had wrapped his fist around the jewel, Kagome squeezed her eyes shut and shouted at the top of her lungs.
"I JUST WISH YOU WOULD GROW UP!!"
Suddenly the jewel glowed brighter and exploded around them in a bright light, and soared straight up into the sky. Everyone in a five-mile radius looked up in confusion and awe.

"Lady Kaede! Lady Kaede!" A man burst into the small hut, breathing hard. The old woman looked up, along with Miroku, Sango, and Shippou.
"What is it?" she asked. The man swallowed hard and pointed a shaking finger outside.
"There's something strange in the sky, like a light of some kind! I think you should come see!" With that he left the hut quickly. Kaede glanced between the monk and the demon exterminator. They all shot to their feet and ran outside to see what was going on.
"Oh my . . ." was all the woman could say. Just ahead of them was pink beam of light shooting into the sky and disappearing into the clouds.
Miroku narrowed his eyes as he calculated the distance from where the unusual light was coming from. He grasped Sango's arm and tugged at her.
"Miroku! What are you doing?!" she shouted, yanking back her arm. He looked at her seriously as he pointed into the forest.
"That light is coming from somewhere in the forest, and I have a feeling Inuyasha and maybe Kagome are right in the middle of it! C'mon!" Sango took a few moments to think about it before nodding, then she turned to her cat demon and the fox demon.
"You two stay here with Kaede. We'll be back soon!" Shippou nodded and watched as the two ran off into the forest. He looked up into the sky and saw that the pink light began to grow smaller.

Kagome fell back on the ground and blocked some of the light out of her eyes with her arm as peered over her it, watching the beam of light get narrower and narrower until it exploded once more, but this time it disappeared in a bright flash.
All was suddenly quiet around her. A soft breeze rustled a few strands of her blue-black hair. She blinked a few times and looked over herself. What just happened? She pushed herself to her feet and looked around timidly. Where was Inuyasha?
"I-Inuyasha? Hey, where are you?!" She spun around, frantically looking for him. She stopped when saw the familiar fire rat haori and white under shirt lying crumpled and lifeless on the grass. She slowly stepped toward it.
Where's Inuyasha? She thought numbly. Did- did he just suddenly disappear? Oh god, what did I just do?!
She knelt down beside the pile of clothes and reached out to it with a shaky hand, tears pooling in her eyes. When her finger brushed against the material, she felt something squirm beneath it. She let out a squeak and stumbled away.
"Wh-what is that? What's going on?!" She inched closer again, watching whatever it was squirm more and more, small noises coming out from under the clothes. Behind her she could hear hurried footsteps making their way closer to her.
"Kagome! Inuyasha! Are you alright?" called Miroku as he and Sango ran to her. Kagome was too busy cautiously moving and parting Inuyasha's clothes, wanting to see what lay dormant inside them, to answer him.
"Kagome?" Sango kneeled beside her and eyed the moving object in the clothes. Kagome didn't say a word as she lifted the haori and peeled back the undershirt.
"Oh, my god," was all Sango could say. Miroku inhaled sharply, a gesture of immense shock. Kagome's eyes were as wide as saucers as she gawked down at the small baby boy wiggling and whimpering, completely naked, at her knees.
Long silver hair pooled around him, his flawless white puppy ears flattened back on his head, expressing his irritation. The baby opened his golden eyes and blinked up at her. She nearly had a heart attack.
"Inu-Inuyasha?"
