Quiet Rage

Chapter Three-You won't have to go back there anymore.

"Ah Kaede we've brought you a visitor," a voice rang through the small house. Miroku waited for the woman to enter the room, he knew she'd be mad at him for this, but her didn't care. All that mattered was that Kagome was happy.

"Why are you back so soon Miroku? You should still be at school," a woman with long black hair pulled back into a low ponytail said as she entered the room. "Ah, you brought Inuyasha and Sango," she frowned. "You two shouldn't influence him like that. It's not good for..." she trailed off as she noticed another person standing in the room. "So this is the visitor you spoke of. Why did you bring her here when I told you not to?"

"She deserves to know what's going on," Miroku said. "Besides all that, we missed the second hour bell and decided to come here."

"She needed the break anyways," Sango said hugging Kagome to her. "Didn'tcha?"

"Ano, Sango-chan could you loosen your grip a bit? I'm finding it hard to breath," she asked her best friend. "Please?"

"Oh! Sorry Kagome-chan," she let go of her and looked around the room.

There wasn't much to look at here, a table, couch, and a few chairs. There were a few pictures, one was of a young woman that looked, suprisingly a lot like Kagome herself, a picture of a shrine, and a blown up picture of a group of people (which she could easily spot 4 familiar faces: Inuyasha had his usual scowl on his face, Sango with her usual smile, Miroku with a slight smirk, and herself...) 'Whoa whoa whoa... How am I in this picture? Wouldn't I have remembered something like this? And we all look different,' she walked closer to the picture to get a better look. 'That shrine looks like the one my family owns!'

"Kagome-sama?" Miroku had walked up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist to get her attention. "Something wrong? You look a little confused," he said pulling her tighter against him.

"It's nothing," she said, still staring at the picture. "It's just... That picture, where did it come from?"

"I'm not sure," he lied. He knew where it had come from he just didn't think this was a good time for the explanation. "So, what do you think?"

"What do I think about what?" she asked in confusion. "Oh! You mean about Kaede! I'm sorry I was just zoning out."

"Hello! We're in the room too yanno... You could pay attention to us too!" Sango exclaimed. She was clearly disturbed by the display of affection between the two. "Besides, you just met her today Miroku! Why are you all over her? And why are you letting him Kagome-chan?"

"Because I can," they both said in unison, not bothering to look at them. "Besides, this is kind of comfortable," Kagome mumbled. "But she does have a point Houshi-sama."

"This is true," he released her and they turned around to face the others. "So Kaede-sama this is Kagome-sama."

"It's nice to meed you," Kagome put her hand out to the woman and they shook hands. "It's nice to meed you too."

"So now what?" Sango asked looking around the group. "We can't just sit around doing nothing all day."

"Your right, there's herbs out back that need picked. You two," she said pointing at Sango and Inuyasha. "You can go pick them, while I have a little chat with Kagome and Miroku."

"But why can't we stay?" Inuyasha asked. He didn't like doing the herb work. "Because-we-need to talk." Kaede answered.

"Fine," he muttered grabbing Sango's hand on his way out the door.

~~~
"What do you want to talk about," Kagome asked looking at Kaede in confusion. "I didn't do anything did I?" she started to panic.
"Relax, you've not done anything wrong," Kaede laughed at her and placed a hand on her shoulder. "I've been told that your father abuses you... I was wondering if you could tell us..."
"What he's been doing... Right? Well, I can't do that, it just seems wrong," she answered and looked down.
"I know it's hard to talk about it... But this is really important Kagome. I need to know what's happening because I need to know how to help you," she said.
"It's just... Daddy said to keep it between us. He said that what he does to me, is just his way of showing me he loves me," Kagome explained. "He'll hurt me if I say anything."
"Kagome-sama, please tell us.."
"Fine! You want to know what he does to me?" she all but yelled as tears came to her eyes. "He beats me, raped me, and constantly abuses me mentally."
Miroku and Kaede sat in silence, not quite sure what to think. An angry look adorned Miroku's features, how was he supposed to feel about this? Finally he pulled Kagome into an embrace, hoping to comfort her.
"It'll be all right now," he said, pulling her closer to him, "You won't have to go back there anymore."
