[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
Kagome found herself at the same place she always ended up, the Goshinboku tree. Gazing upward, she saw the scar from the arrow that she, herself as well as Kikyo had sealed InuYasha with.
Climbing over the small fence Kagome went to the time tree and placed her fingers over the small indention of the bark.
“InuYasha…” She whispered as the tears began anew from her already swollen eyes. “I miss you…”

InuYasha stood in the small clearing of the Goshinboku tree and looked at his past.
---flashback---
He saw the refuge of the forest rushing up at him as he leapt from the burning village, the Shikon no Tama in his grasp as the rush of the arrow pricked at his ears. Before he could react, the arrow pieced his flesh, his heart, and sent him reeling onto the God tree, the sacred jewel falling from his fingers. Looking up he saw the woman he loved more than life itself glaring daggers at him. Her arrow already sending him to his death. “Why Kikyo?” he mumbled to himself before he fell into eternal sleep.

“Somebody help me!” A voice called to him in the darkness, pulling him to the surface of the deep pool he was in. `That voice, I know it', was his first coherent thought before his eyes opened and he saw the strangely dressed girl running towards him. `KIKYO', his mind yelled when he saw the panicked girl. `She smells like Kikyo, but why does she run?'
“Hey, Kikyo…” he called out, the corners of his mouth twitching into a smirk as he saw her startled expression. “Why don't you just shoot it with one of your arrows?”
Kikyo just stared at him in complete bewilderment as the centipede youkai gained on her only to be derailed by arrows of the villagers. `Nani?' InuYasha thought, “What's wrong Kikyo, have you gotten so weak that you need their help?”
Kikyo glared at him, then climbed up the roots to wag her finger at him. “Why do you keep calling me Kikyo? My name's Kagome. KA - GO - ME.” She screeched at him. `Hmmm', he leaned closer and sniffed her, she smelled like Kikyo, yet not like her. “Hmm…Kikyo was more feminine.” He stated bluntly as the girl calling herself Ka Go Me eyes grew wide in anger. Then the youkai had her up in the air, ripping a piece of flesh from her before she fell back to the earth. A shining jewel falling just feet from her body.
“Shikon no Tama!” he heard the monster call as it moved in for another attack. `The sacred jewel!' InuYasha's eyes widened. “Give me that jewel”, he called to Kikyo/Kagome as she sat up dazedly. Before she could react, the centipede's body already had her pressed in the tree just below his prison. “Can you pull this arrow out?” he asked her. “Or do you want to die here”.
She glanced up at him, a mix of anger and fear in her gray eyes as he heard her say “Die here, in this place I don't even know!” Then her hand was on the arrow, and just as if it never existed, it vanished. He was free!
---End flashback---
So long ago, it was the end of one life and the beginning of a new one. But now that all was said and done, what road should he take? The road of memories, or the unknown future. InuYasha walked slowly away and wandered aimlessly, his mind in disarray.
“InuYasha”, the sweet voice called to him, and looking up he found himself at the bone eaters well...and Kagome.
