Chapter 9: Training

 

 

Kagome shifted her position, grunting slightly at the feeling of someone shaking her.

`'Kagome, wake up'' a soft voice said.

`'Five more minutes...'' she mumbled. She heard laughter.

`'You asked me to show you to ride. That means getting up early, lazy woman!'' Kahei was chuckling.

`'What...?'' Kagome opened her eyes, and found Kahei leaning over her with a funny expression on his face. She remembered last night's events. She also remembered that she wouldn't see Inuyasha in a week.

 

Can I last until then?

 

She slowly got out of bed, with Kahei sitting on the edge of the bed with the funny expression on his face.

`'What's so funny?'' Kagome asked, looking out the window, noticing that the sun had risen not very long ago.

`'You are funny. You're so lazy!'' he said, and laughed.

`'I'm not lazy, I just get up at decent hours!'' Kagome said.

`'yeah, like when we were kids, that you called one o clock a `'decent hour'''' he said.

`'Oh, shut up!'' she said playfully, and went to the bathroom to get a bit cleaned. W

 

`'What should I wear?'' Kagome asked once she was out of the bathroom. `'For riding?''

`'I got you these this morning'' Kahei said, handing over a riding outfit of cream coloured pants with a matching shirt, that reminded her of Inuyasha's undershirt, with a pair of small boot like shoes (A/N like Sesshoumaru's shoes).

`'Not stylish, but comfortable'' he said smiling. She took the clothes from him and went once more to the bathroom and changed. Kahei couldn't help but stare when she came out, for both pants and shirt were tight, signalling her curves. She had pulled her hair in a high ponytail.

`'Ok, let's get going now'' Kahei said, and went to the stables.

 

 

When she went back to her room to eat lunch, she was completely exhausted and her legs hurt like hell. She was born to ride, that's true, but still the first time it was trying. She had learned to control the horse with the reins and legs, and Kahei had concentrated in making her trot perfectly ( successfully), although the never ending movement of going up and down in the saddle had made Kagome's legs tu hurt terribly, and most of all when Kahei had forced her to trot sitting in the saddle, not getting up once, and that was terrible. But it helped a lot after all. Shun was a good horse as well, so he did all she said. Kahei told her not to change, and in the evening they trained with swords, learning basic techniques of attacking and blocking attacks. She happily welcomed the end of the day, and she cleaned herself, happy to get rid of the sweat, and had dinner with Kahei. She was wearing once more the white kimono with the Sakura tree, her hair let loose. After they finished eating, Kahei asked her:

`'I remember you usually went to the patio of the cherry trees at night'' he said. Kagome smiled in agreement, remembering all the nights she had spent with Inuyasha there. Before she even realised it, her feet were leading her there, Kahei walking alongside her. They sat in the bench, and she looked up to the moon, a light breeze playing with her hair.

 

They stayed in silence for quite long, until Kagome got up, and said:

`'I should go to sleep. Another training day tomorrow'' she said.

`'Good idea'' he said, and followed her to their dormitory. Kagome fell asleep when her head touched the pillow.

Inuyasha smiled at the sight. He had found the perfect place. The only problem now was to get the owners to leave it.

Kagome slowly opened her eyes as she felt the very annoying hand shaking her.

`'Wake up sleeping lazy'' Kahei said.

`'I'mnotlazy'' she said altogether, getting up dizzily.

Kahei just laughed.

 

 

That morning Kahei focused on galloping. It was much more comfortable, and the feeling of Shun's speed and the wind hitting her face was wonderful. After having lunch, they started with swords again, and improved the blocking techniques, learning to read every movement possible of the human body, and blocking attacks almost like dancing. At the end of the day, Kagome was again exhausted. But she still gave a little visit to the patio, this time without Kahei, who had gone to check on Shun. Surprisingly, she found Sango sitting there, but she was not alone. Miroku sat by her side, and she couldn't help but laugh when Sango slapped him so hard he fell of the bench.

`'Hentai! Don't you ever grope me like that again!'' she said in anger.

`'My dear Sango, you misunderstood me. I was trying to catch a lizard that was on you bottom!'' he said.

`'yeah, night'' she said.

 

Kagome stepped into view, and Miroku retreated into the house, lucky to get away from a furious Sango.

`'Hello, Sango-chan!'' Kagome said happily.

`'Hello'' Sango said, and Kagome sat by her side.

`'What were you doing here alone with Miroku-sama?'' she asked, with a smirk on her lips.

`'Nothing'' Sango said, but Kagome notices her crimson blush. She smiled.

`'How are you?'' Kagome asked he friend.

`'Well, I suppose. I...I have to apologize, Kagome. My brother wasn't as perfect as I thought he was...'' Sango lowered her head.

`'It's ok. I'm sorry he had to...'' Kagome didn't finish the sentence.

`'It's ok. I heard about your new engagement with Kahei''

`'Yeah. He's being very nice to me. We've known each other all of our lives, after all'' Kagome said.

`'I'm glad'' Sango said.

 

They stayed in silence for awhile, and then Kagome spoke again.

`'I should go to bed. I'm tired'' she said, and before waiting for an answer, she retreated to her bedroom. Kahei wasn't there when she came in. She changed in the bathroom, and turning off the oil lamps, and hid in the soft sheets.

Kagome woke up, this time not by Kahei. She looked out the window. It was still night. Kahei was sleeping next to her. Why had she wakened up? She got out of bed, and looked out the window. She shook her head when she remembered this window didn't face her patio. She put on her black nightgown a robe she had, slipped her sandals on and walked trough the deserted corridors, and went to the patio. Something was amiss. She sat in the bench, and looked up to the branches of the Sakura tree. Nothing there to see. Suddenly, she felt a pair of arms wrap around her waist. She did not scream, but turned and without knowing who it was she punched the person.

`'Wench, what did you do that for!'' an annoyed Inuyasha scolded her while he held with his hands his hurting nose.

`'Since when you punch that strong?'' he asked again.

`'Inu...Inuyasha?'' Kagome said, not believing her eyes, and she jumped to him, surrounding his neck in her arms.

`'I'm so glad to see you! But why are you here? Weren't you supposed to be back in a week?'' she asked, and didn't let him respond by giving him a passionate kiss.

`'Took me less than I thought. I found a perfect place. You're going to love it'' he said, and smiled warmly at her.

`'But how did you get it?'' she asked the hanyou, knowing him too well.

`'The family that lived there felt motivated after a pleasant visit from me and moved to another house they had in the north'' he said with a smirk on his face.

`'Not again!'' she said, and laughed, still holding him. He held her closer, thanking for the warmth of her body. They sat in the bench, still close to each other.

`'What are you doing here so late anyway?'' he asked her.

`'Woke up, couldn't sleep'' she said. They kissed passionately again.

`'How's training going? Did he treat you well? `Cause if not...'' he said.

`'I'm having fun, although it's very trying. But I've learned a lot with the sword and horse riding'' she said, smiling tenderly at him.'' And of course he's being nice to me!'' she added.

`'Good. You should go to sleep now. You want me to go with you?'' he asked her.

`'No, I'll be fine. See you tomorrow night!'' she said, kissed him once more and ran off to her room.

 

OoOoOoOoOoOo

 

`'Kagome, there you are! You scared the life out of me!'' Kahei exclaimed when she entered the dormitory, and he embraced her tightly.

`'Where were you?'' he asked her.

`'I'm sorry, I just woke up and couldn't sleep, went for a while to the patio of sakura trees'' she said. `'Sorry I worried you'' she apologized while she took the robe off, slipping into the bed.

`'It's ok, you just scared me. Now go to sleep, more training tomorrow you've got'' he said, and turning of the lamps they went to sleep.

That morning, after having a little fight because Kahei had do practically drag her out of bed, she improved her trot and canter, and she learned how to keep the best contact with the horse, and did exercises of control with legs and reins, like doing perfect circles, making the horse walk sideways and other things of the sort. She was learning very fast, in the four hours of riding she had every day. In the evening, instead of swords, Kahei surprised her by handing her a bow and arrows, and she practised all evening with it. She was better with the bow than with the sword.

`'You have to concentrate on what you're aiming'' Kahei instructed her, helping her position. Kagome frowned, concentrating on the moving target she had to hit. Suddenly, the arrow started to shine with a pink light, and when she let it go, not only did it hit the target in the middle, but destroyed it.

`'What...what did I do?'' Kagome said, scared.

`'That's what I'd like to know. That just looked like spiritual powers, like your sister has!'' Kahei exclaimed.

`'I...I have Miko powers?'' she said.

`'Seems to. That will help you a lot, if you practise with the bow and unleash that power you'll be very strong'' Kahei said.

Kagome smiled, and without notice, she shot a glowing arrow at Kahei, that missed him barely. She started to laugh.

`'Got you scared, huh?'' she said, and laughed at his expression. Kahei couldn't help but laugh too.

 

After having Rin to bathe her, she put on her usual black Kimono with the purple ribbon, ate dinner with Kahei and hurried off to the patio. She sat in the bench as usual, and waited for Inuyasha to come. She felt once more a pair of arms surrounding her, and a whisper in her ear:

`'Don't punch me this time, wench'' he said softly.

Kagome turned and got up, embracing him. He held her closely, his arms wrapped in her back, liking the feeling her body gave him.

`'I watched you this morning while you rode the horse. You're not bad at all'' he said with a smirk.

`'Oh! You know what I did?!'' she exclaimed.

`'What?''

`'This evening I trained with the bow and arrow instead of the sword, and I discovered I have miko powers! I can shoot arrows charged with miko power! Isn't that great?'' she said happily, and kissed him tenderly.

`'I'm glad you're gaining what you wanted'' he said, and they kissed again, this time more passionately, tongues dancing together, holding each other as close as possible. Kagome moaned into his mouth, and one of her arms went up to his head, and she started rubbing it. He moaned in delight.

`'You sure like me rubbing those cute fluffy ears you've got'' Kagome said when they separated.

Inuyasha blushed furiously, and Kagome laughed at him. Suddenly, his ears twitched.

`'Someone is here'' he said, his voice completely changed. Kagome frowned, and turned her back, gripping a throwing knife she had in her Kimono. Inuyasha stared at her in shock. The girl had really changed.

 

Kahei stepped out of the shadows, smiling sadly.

`'Kahei'' Kagome gasped. Inuyasha circled her waist protectively.

`'Kagome, don't hurt me'' Kahei said when she saw the girl had a knife.

`'I'll hurt you if you do anything to her'' the hanyou growled. Kahei chuckled.

`'So that's why the other runt tried to rape you. He found out, didn't he?'' Kahei said. For some reason, he didn't seem mad at all. Almost happy.

`'I'm glad you've found someone, Kagome'' Kahei said, walking next to them.

`'My apologies'' he said to Inuyasha `'I am Kahei'' he said, and bowed his head slightly.

`'Aren't you...mad?'' Kagome asked.

`'Why should I be?'' he asked.

`'Well, I'm engaged to you and all, and I'm seeing him secretly...'' she said.

`'As I said before, I'm glad you've found someone you love. I never expected you to love me or to be loyal to me. On the contrary'' he said.

Inuyasha was now confused.

`'I haven't heard your name yet'' Kahei said friendly.

`'Inuyasha'' he said with a growl.

`'Inuyasha? As in the dead son of Inutaisho?'' Kahei was shocked now.

`'Tell anyone I'm alive and I'll rip you to pieces'' Inuyasha said.

`'No, don't worry, I won't ssay anything. How does it help me?'' he said with a smile. `'And besides, if I did say anything I would loose Kagome's friendship'' he said.

`'Got that right'' she said, and put the knife back in her kimono.

`'You're going to run away, aren't you?'' Kahei said, with a sad look on his face. `'That's why you asked me to train you''.

`'Please, Kahei, don't say anything. They'll kill us both!'' she said.

`'I would never let that happen. I'll cover you up if I can. Your happiness is also mine'' he said. Kagome embraced him shortly, and returned by Inuyasha.

`'Thank you'' Inuyasha said. Kagome stared in shock at him. That she didn't expect, being so protective as he was.

`'When are you planning to leave?'' he asked. `'Two more days of training should be enough, Kagome'' he said. `'You can take Shun with you'' he said.

`'I...I can't take Shun! He's your horse! I can't accept that!'' she said.

`'Of course you can, and you are going to. At least I know you'll never forget me if you have him. He'll protect you both'' Kahei said.

`'I don't know how to thank you, Kahei'' she said.

`'No way. Just leave and be happy. That's all I want, for you to be happy'' he said.

 

Inuyasha was amazed of how good he was. He had never in his life met someone like him, apart from Kagome.

`'I am indebt to you then'' Inuyasha said.

`'Don't be'' Kahei said simply. Inuyasha extended his hand, and he shook it with Kahei's.

`'It was a pleasure to meet you'' Kahei said, and turned to Kagome.

`'You should go to bed now''.

 

Kagome nodded and kissed Inuyasha goodnight, and she followed after Kahei. Inuyasha jumped to the tree, and fell asleep.

`'Thank you so much, Kahei'' Kagome said again, and embraced her friend.

`'Anything for you, Kagome'' he said. Then, they went to sleep.
