Chapter 13: Out of This World

Inuyasha is woken up by the sound of mumbling and grumbling noises. “(Mumble)…nnn…(Grumble)… hhmmm…(Whisper)…don't stop-hhmmm…” `He must be having some kind of dream…I'm sure it isn't anything to worry about,' Inuyasha thinks to himself. As he is on his way towards drifting back to sleep, another sound wakes him up. “(Mumble)…nnn…(Whisper) Naraku…oohw…” `Did he just say, “Naraku?!”' Inuyasha quickly jumps up before rushing over towards the shoji blind and peeking through it. What he sees completely confuses him. It is an unconscious Sesshoumaru, lying beside the still sleeping Tensei, without covers on, massaging his groin erratically as his pelvis convulses up and down with his legs spread. As Inuyasha continues to watch, he momentarily becomes lost in Sesshoumaru's physical form and gyrations as heat starts to form between his own legs. He unconsciously slides the tip of his tongue between his lips ever so slightly. His hand begins to drift over the red fabric where his crouch lies. He starts to caress himself. He begins to moan very lightly under his breath, “I'm-so-horny…mmmm…hhmmm…hhaaww. I tried to forget…hhh…I don't want to remember… hhmm…all of those times…it is unnatural…hhh…it must forever remain…hhh…a secret between us…hhh…we said…mmm…hhmmm…hha!-aaahhh…hhhh…” `We can never be, but at least now I can protect you as my brother.' He tucks this moment away, deep into his mind and pretends like it never happened, like so many others. He decides to stay awake and continue to listen in for any other clues as to what could be going on inside of Sesshoumaru's mind.

~ “Hhaaawwww!!! OooOoooo…” “Hn-Hhnnnnn!!!” After Sesshoumaru and Naraku moan and writhe through the last pangs of pleasure, they stay in the same position for a moment, panting with hair soaked with sweat and mingled together, heads side by side facing the opposite direction, chests as hard as granite pressed firmly together, creating fiery heat like two tectonic plates colliding. Eventually Naraku removes himself from Sesshoumaru. They end up lying together side by side on their backs as they gaze up into the marvelously starry skies above them. No words are spoken for a few moments. Then out of nowhere, Naraku begins to chuckle lightly to himself. “What are you laughing about?” Sesshoumaru asks warmly. Naraku pauses, “I was just thinking about…remember the time when that monkey stole my hakama while we were in the hotspring? When you tried to get them back…you accidently melted away the monkey along with my hakama? The look on your face was priceless. Then even after that you continued to say, `I'm just an average yokai.' Your excuse was that, `I can only do that every hundred years…so I won't be able to do that again now, for a long time.' That was a good one, I have to admit.” Sesshoumaru replies with playful cockiness, “Yes…it was.” “There's only one thing though,” “…And what is that?” “If you had of somehow managed to slip again, your story would have been completely blown.” “But that wasn't going to happen.” “Of course it wasn't.” “Thank Amaterasu that you had a long kimono, `else your ass would have been exposed for everyone to see.” “Yea, thank the gods.” There is silence for a few seconds. “We really did have some good times back then,” Sesshoumaru reminisces. “Yea…the sex was spectacular,” Naraku replies. “Indeed,” Sesshoumaru agrees whole-heartedly. After some more time in quiet contemplation, Naraku starts on a new topic, one that is well overdue at this point. “Your hunch about Tensei was correct.” “It was,” Sesshoumaru replies as more of a statement than a question. “Yes, it was,” Naraku confirms. He continues, “He is my reincarnation. So just out of curiosity, whose eyes do you find more alluring, mines or his?” Sesshoumaru thinks before replying. “Hm, you know…it's hard to decide. Both are beautiful in their own ways. Your gaze is powerful and makes me feel like…I want to do anything and everything to please you. While Tensei's is very delicate and makes me feel like…I want to do anything and everything to please him as well, but in a completely different way. I feel like I need to protect him, while with you, I just felt the need to submit to you protecting me.” “Very intriguing,” Naraku replies smoothly.

Naraku brings up the question that he knows has probably been weighing down on Sesshoumaru's mind for a while now, although he refuses to give off any impression that would allude to that. “So I'm sure you'd like me to tell you more about how I came to be reincarnated as Tensei?” “Yes…that would be sufficient.” “Alright…Well you probably wondered how I could come back so soon considering the fact that I had so much negative karma surrounding me after my previous life.” Sesshoumaru gives Naraku a suspicious glance before he drones, “Stop stalling Naraku…get to it.” “Right…Well…there is no underworld.” Sesshoumaru sits up hastily in shock before shouting, “What!” as if someone had just told him that Inuyasha was a full blooded yokai. “That's preposterous! It's ridiculous! I went there to save Rin! I saw the place with my own eyes!” Naraku smirks as he continues to look up into the starry sky, “So you thought.” “I don't want to go through this again…” “I'm not lying…” “So what are you trying to tell me then?” “The plain you visited was a pseudo plain...created at your souls request after your last incarnation, in order to test you in this incarnated form. No one who visits those plains ever really end up dying. It's by design.” “So you're saying that before I incarnated in this current form: I decided that I was going to play a trick on myself as a test, so that you could tell me what I did-so that I would end up feeling like a fool-because I fell for my own cruel joke.” “Well the way you word it…you make it sound terrible.” “Well, it is-isn't it.” “No Sesshoumaru, I don't think so. Didn't you learn an important lesson?” Sesshoumaru pauses in thought for a moment before replying. “Actually, I did.”

“Then that means that you aren't a fool. Actually, you are wise. You also made the decision to incarnate as a Yokai in order to receive certain challenges that you wouldn't be able to as a human. You are somewhat advanced as a soul and any soul incarnating as a very powerful yokai has to be. A young soul would not be able to properly control the powerful body and physical aura of a Daiyokai. Yokai exist on their own plain within earths plain, but because they are incarnating beings as well, there are certain barriers to the spirit world for them just as there are for humans, animals, and other awakened beings. The reason why souls inhabit bodies on earth is so that they can learn important universal lessons. Even if a soul inhabits the body of a yokai, there are still lessons to be learned. In the end, no matter how much power we have on this planet, we are still treated equally once we get to the spirit world. The only difference there is the level of knowledge and wisdom we possess which is made evident by the color of our spiritual essence. All sentient beings in this world exist on a plain where there is a lot of destruction and we attribute this destruction to punishment, so we assume that the spirit world must be the same way…but it isn't. There are many gods in the spirit world, but when you are there, they are viewed more like ascended beings than gods because they once incarnated on earth too but don't any longer because they have reached the highest level of wisdom attainable on this world. Amaterasu is one of the many `god's.'”

“Did you meet her?” Sesshoumaru asks with restrained excitement. “Yes, I did. She made it possible for me to be able to see you again. She spoke to the spiritual counsel in order to convince them that I would be responsible in a body that was similar in appearance to the one I held in my previous life. As long as Hitome Kagiwaki's soul was alright with it, they would agree to it. He was, so arrangements were made. But there were so many other things that needed to be taken into consideration. I desired duality within the body in order to protect it. This was rarely done. They granted me this wish however. I desired to rendezvous with you around my eighteenth birthday. As long as the other part of your soul agreed, they would make it so. It just…” “…Wait a second! Are you saying that there is another part of me still lingering in the spirit world?” “Mmhm…” “This is a lot to place on someone in one night.” “You said that you were ready for the truth, Sesshoumaru.” “I did say that…and I am. Continue.” “So, everything has worked out as planned, so far. Inspite of all of the unconditional love showered upon me after my death in the spirit world, I felt extremely disappointed by my conduct on earth. All though I was sent to…I cannot share that with you. I can only tell you things related to our incarnations. All of the negative karma I accumulated had to be balanced out. I myself chose what the best path for me would be in order to make that possible, although there weren't too many choices available for me. I could have stayed and endured intensive reconfigurations of my spirit energy, which would have been an easier path. But I wanted to learn how to love deeply…and I wanted to see you again. So I chose to come back to earth and endure a harsh childhood incarnated as a human called Tensei. We always remained one except for when we were feeling extreme levels of fear and anguish. If our minds were in the correct state, it led to our separation, meaning that I could take control of the body temporarily and defend it if need be. That is why most of the emotional, physical, and mental anguish we endured was what we volunteered for in order to have money to eat and survive, with the exception of our family being killed in front of us. When that time came, our body and brain was too small to be able to do much. I was given supernatural abilities, but I could only use them when Tensei's mind became ripe enough for us to split our consciousness and that didn't happen until after the death of his parents and little sister. This was all made this way, so that I would have the opportunity to learn the lessons set out for me. I needed to know what it felt like to have my family torn away from me savagely. I needed to know what it felt like to be alone, to be perceived by others as inferior and to be persecuted and token advantage of for those reasons. I needed to know what it felt like to live in emotional, physical and psychological pain and distress constantly, amongst so many other things. I didn't ever want to live my life the way I'd lived it before, again, even though I did help others learn valuable lessons during that stage.”

“I…didn't know that Tensei…you…had endured so much. In my life…I have been responsible for hurting others as well. I persecuted my brother ruthlessly and irrationally for no good reason. I despised him for merely being born, something that he had no control over. I constantly berated him…calling him a `half-breed.' No one would believe that I've felt inferior and inadequate…often. But I've never been persecuted based on being perceived that way. I wonder what the next life has in store for me.” “All you can be concerned about right now is this life. You have been able to accomplish and overcome a lot of your previous ways of thinking. That says a lot about who you are, Sesshoumaru. I didn't learn a lot of my lessons in my previous life. That is the difference between you and me. But it is never too late, for either one of us. We have all of the time in the world to get it right.” Sesshoumaru smiles warmly before replying, “That makes a lot of sense…Naraku.” A smile slowly erupts onto Naraku's face as he gazes back at Sesshoumaru for a moment. Then he says, “There is something else I must tell you before we depart.” ~ “(Grumble)…Tensei…die!? (Mumble)…Why? (Grumble)…create balance?” Inuyasha thinks to himself, `Why did he mention, “die?” So far, I've heard him mention the words: Spirit world, Rin's name; Tensei's name, incarnation; Naraku's name, my name, along with a bunch of other gibberish. What could it all mean?' He continues to listen in on Sesshoumaru. “(Grumble)…When? (Mumble)…at the old castle?” Suddenly, Sesshoumaru jumps up out of his sleep. He pants heavily as he sits with his arms stretched out behind him with a petrified and stunned expression on his face and sweat beads across his forehead. Inuyasha freezes in complete panic and fear of seeing his brother in such an unfamiliar state. Then after a few moments of collecting himself, Sesshoumaru unconsciously lays back down, pulling the covers over him, before quickly drifting back to sleep as if he had never sat up. `Is it over? Well I guess I can go back to sleep now too. Only time can reveal what this all means.'
