**Chap. 11- Getting to Know Each Other…

Rai walked into the kitchen early the next morning and was met with teal eyes. It was enough to stop him in his tracks. "Who are you?"

"Hello, Rai. I'm Kareena."

"Oh the bitch that wanted to take my spot. Well, I have news- You're fired." Rai said getting out a bowl for cereal. Kareena just looked at him and shook her head.

"You're hopeless…"

"What did you say?"

"I said you're hopeless." She shrugged and followed his lead on the bowl.

He looked at her with disbelief. "Didn't you hear me… You're fired."

"Only Kagome can do that to me, and unless you're wearing a disguise, you're not Kagome. Fuck off dick weed."

"Alright children no more fighting." Kagome said entering the room.

"I'm tired of your shit Kagome."

"Then get out of my home. Rai I don't care what you're tired of, I'm tired of your crap too. Get over it, I will." She got the milk out of the refrigerator and poured herself a glass. Rai just stood there. A silence fell roughly then Felis and Darren entered screaming the lyrics to some Linkin Park song.

"Oh Kami…" Rai said covering his ears. They were completely off key.

"If you two don't shut up I'm going to rip out your vocal chords." Kagome screamed over them.

They went on. "If you can't beat them, join them." Kareena started singing too.

Kagome rolled her eyes, picked up her glass of milk and walked out of the kitchen. She plopped herself into a chair in the living room and turned on the TV. Rai joined her soon after. He seemed calm, collected- and strange. He was never this quiet. "Rai what happened? What happened to us?"

He sighed. "We fell away from each other. Permanently…"

She thought about his words. "No, not permanently, just for now." Kagome stood and sat next to him on the couch. Her head rested softly on his shoulder. "Just for now." She whispered softly.

He dragged his fingers through her hair. `I can't do what Kikyou wanted me to. I can't betray her like that.' He thought to himself.

"Kagome. I met some one, and she wanted me to do something for her. I told her I didn't know if I could, and now I don't think I can but… I wanted you to know, I haven't been faithful to the band." His voice gave away his feelings.

"What do you mean Rai?"

"I told some secrets that never should have been told."

"Which ones?"

"Mostly about Darren and Felis. She wanted me to come back here and gather some on you."

Kagome sat still for a moment, then moved to look at him. "If she takes it to the news, we won't make it Rai. With all these things happening, our lives are going to crater." His fingers stroked through her hair again.

"Kareena needs to take over my place, it can not be known I came back. Maybe Kikyou will think I ran away."

"Kikyou? Rai why do you always have to go find the worst people to spill the beans to? Kikyou, has a history with me, as well as Sesshoumaru and Inu. She is a reporter, also a miko." She said sighing, and realizing she was being too harsh. "It's not your fault, you didn't know."

Rai only sighed and buried his face in her hair. Darren walked in tugging Kareena with him. "Hey Rai, she's got like a major crush on you. She practically adores you and has a statue of you in her closet that she worships, so would you be so nice as to kiss her on the cheek and fulfill all of her dreams?" He blabbed.

Kagome laughed sitting up. Rai stood and for the first time really looked at Kareena. Her eyes held the world in them as if it was a jewel to be watched over carefully, her skin was smooth and looked soft as satin, her lips were full and as red as rose petals when they first see daylight. His breath was taken away.

Kagome felt Rai's reaction to Kareena and was almost thankful for it. Perhaps he would find what he had been looking for after all. She smiled, hoping that it was not just her imagination. She would finally be able to get to know Inuyasha.

Rai hooked his hand around Kareena's neck, taking in the feel of it, the softness. His lips skimmed over her cheek as Darren had said and then rested over her lips, touching so lightly that he wasn't sure he had really contacted with them at all. A bolt f lightening went through him, and he pulled away, knowing if he did not he would be forced to deepen the kiss.

An: Here is what's going on, I am sorry I have not been able to post. Last week my aunt called to say that my grandmother who had the stroke is now on her death bed. I have been traveling back and forth to Houston, and working on the stories I have out. My writer's block is gone (yippee) and I actually am going to wrap this story up within the next few months (or weeks hopefully). School will be starting back so I should have plenty of time to work on them, Thank you for your patience with me and goddess bless you all.
