Chapter 12: Her Cousin, His Brother

Sango and Kagome woke up the following morning in Kagome's house. Ayame was driven home by the wonderful dancer the night before and said that she's coming by later. Inuyasha and Miroku were sleeping in the living room. She convinced her parents, mostly her father, as usual, to let them stay. It was a long night and it was the beginning of Christmas break so what harm could it do?
Sango stretched as she got up to do her morning rituals.

“I think the prom went well, don't you?”
“It was fun I must admit. It was a night I'll never forget, besides the “one night” we spent together, but that's over and done with. I can't wait to see Rin. She's supposed to be over sometime this week.” She responded as she, too, prepared herself.
Since this was the beginning of the break, they figured the boys would still be sleeping. They went downstairs and went into the kitchen to grab something to eat. They saw Souta in there, too.
“Sis, what happened to you last night? You came home really late. I don't see why you can keep dancing, it's sooo boring.” He said with a yawn.
“You won't find it boring once you get older, especially with someone you care about.” Sango answered as she smiled at Kagome and both giggled.
“That's true. I know we both have.”
Souta made an eerie face and saw both Inuyasha and Miroku coming up behind the girls, both still sleepy. Both slowly wrapped their arms around their girlfriends by the waist, surprising both.
“You know you got to stop doing that.” Kagome told him as she turned her head to see his face, seeing that he was topless, making it even hard for her to kiss him to death. He gripped her tighter and kissing her on the lips.
“You know I can't resist you.” and then kissed her yet again.
“You better because if my father sees us like this, you know you're going to get an earful. Especially when I tried to convince that if you did stay the night, we wouldn't make out in front of him or Mom.” They both smiled and he then kissed her forehead.
Sango practically jumped up but then suddenly became completely tranquil when she felt Miroku's face against hers.
“Just don't try anything lecherous.” was all she said and received a kiss on her head.
Souta just stared at the two couples, completely grossed out.
“I seriously don't get why you guys kiss and right in front of me! Disgusting! I'm out of here!” And he ran out faster than the wind, not wanting to see more. As soon as he ran out, Mom and Dad came down the stairs to see the couples cuddled up.
Dad cleared his throat, signaling to break apart. All four heard this and broke apart, looking equally embarrassed. Mom just laughed, but Dad looked directly at Kagome. “Dad, me and Sango just entered the kitchen and they came up behind us. We didn't do anything.” The other three nodded.
“We just saw Souta running out of the kitchen with a grossed out look. That explains a whole lot.” They all apologized and grabbed some breakfast. After that, they all went upstairs to relax.
Mom was in the kitchen while Dad paced around.
“Just calm done, dear, it happens with teens today. And by the way they were looking; it probably won't be long before our daughter marries.” Dad just turned around, shocked. “You can't be serious, over my dead body!” He proclaimed. Mom just rolled her eyes, knowing he was being in denial.
“You know more than likely that she will end up living with him and you know as well as I do, that no one can stop them.” He knew she was right. `I hate it when she does that.' He thought bitterly.

Upstairs, all four were chattering away, waiting for Ayame to show. When she did about 15 minutes later, they all sat down, discussing random things. Ayame was on the bed, while Sango and Miroku were sitting next to each other against the bed and Kagome was leaning against Inuyasha's chest, between his legs. All of them were laughing hard about a stupid joke that Sango made.
“I can't believe I didn't get that.” Ayame said, while laughing a little bit. All of them calmed down before Miroku spoke up.
“You know, Kagome, just looking at you, you look a little heavier than before.” All was silent. `Uh-oh!' They all thought. Kagome gave him a death glare.
“You did it now Miroku.” Ayame said. “That's something you never mention to a girl, and that's weight, especially when that girl is about to kill you!” Sango added, sliding away from him.
“Would you repeat that, Miroku?” She said, sitting up, cracking her knuckles with a devilish grin. He just gulped, realizing that he could go no where.
“Inuyasha, would you please control your girlfriend?” He desperately asked. Inuyasha just crossed his arms, obviously not wanting to move.
“No way dude, besides, if she kills you, then she might kill me too if I interfered, and I value my life. I'll keep my distance and watch you get beaten to a pulp.”
`Thanks a lot, traitor!' He thought as she got closer and grabbed his shirt collar.
“You're dead now, Miroku!”
“I wish you well.” Sango and Ayame said from the sidelines, becoming entertained.
“Not helping, you two!” He shouted as he closed his eyes waited to feel the pain that was about to come.
The doorbell suddenly rang, making Kagome stop and look towards her closed door. “Kagome, come down here a minute!” Mom shouted from below.
“Coming, Mom!” She answered and looked back at Miroku.
“Today's your lucky day.” She growled and then dropped him on the floor and walking out of the room. 'Whew.' was all he could think.

She went downstairs fairly quickly and looked up to see a special cousin, standing in the doorway.
RIN!!!” She screamed.
“KAGOME!!! Rin shouted as they ran up and hugged each other, bouncing up and down. They pulled apart and looked at each other.
“Oh my god, look at you, Rin, you've grown.”
“So have you. You're not that little shrimp anymore.” She chuckled.
“Shut up. You're older than me. It's been so long. How are you?”
“I'm okay, tired from the flight. I wanted to surprise you all. Where's Sango and Ayame, I haven't seen them in forever!” She asked.
“Yeah, they're all upstairs, even my boyfriend.” She concluded. She looked at her 18 year old cousin, who was about the same height, cute bubbly eyes, long, velvet black hair and cute personality.
“So you finally have a boyfriend, too? I want to see him.” She pleaded cutely, tugging on Kagome's arm.
“Only if I see yours.” She smiled. Rin just nodded and ran to get her bags and her `mysterious' boyfriend.
“GUYS! GET DOWN HERE NOW!” She yelled at everyone upstairs. She saw Rin come up with a tall, mysterious man behind her. He did have silver hair, like Inuyasha's, with the same colored eyes. She clung to his arm.
“This is Sesshomaru or Sesshy as I call him!” She giggled. Sesshomaru just gave a slow head nod in response.
“This is my cousin, Kagome.” She introduced them.
“Nice to meet you.” Kagome said to him.
“Likewise.” He responded with a `why-am-I-here?' expression. They heard footsteps coming down the stairs. When Rin saw Sango and Ayame, she screamed and towards them. Sango and Ayame also ran down the stairs and surrounded Rin.
“Hey, it's been too long, Rin!”
“Way too long!” Sango and Ayame said simultaneously.
“You're telling me.” Rin responded happily. Inuyasha and Miroku came down and when he saw Sesshomaru in the doorway, he did not look pleased. Rin saw Inuyasha and grabbed Kagome.
“Is that him?” She said ecstatically. Kagome went up and wrapped both arms around Inuyasha's arm, which brought him out of his state.
“Sure is. Inuyasha, this is Rin, my cousin. Rin, this is my boyfriend, Inuyasha.” He gave a nod, acknowledging her.
“I wouldn't believe when you told me that you found him after all these years. Now I do.” Rin said.
“Oh, everyone, I would like you to meet my boyfriend, Sessho-“She was cut off by Inuyasha, who had a look of disgust.
“Sesshomaru.” He said bitterly, walking up face to face with him.
“It's been a long time, little brother.” He said sounding every bit irritated as Inuyasha was.
“LITLLE BROTHER?!” They all shouted.
“Your brothers?!” “No wonder I could see the resemblance.” “Unbelievable!” Sango, Miroku, and Ayame shouted at the same time. Kagome and Rin just looked a little confused.
“This is all too weird. We're cousins, but we're going out with two brothers?” Rin questioned, not sure of what she just said.
“What are the odds of that happening?” Kagome questioned herself
“This is just too much for me.” Miroku said, holding his head.

All 7 people gathered in the living room, planning on what to do next.
“I think we should go Christmas shopping.” Sango suggested.
“YEAH!” The rest of the girls shouted.
“NOOOO!” The boys yelled back, Sesshomaru included. He might have been silent most of the time he was there, but if there was on thing he didn't like, like other boys, was shopping.
“Oh come on! We don't ask much of you boys and besides, how else are we going to get your gifts?” Rin asked.
“I don't want to be dragged around the mall carrying your bags!” Miroku quickly said, knowing that Sango was giving him a `what did you say' glare.
“Guess what? We are dragging you three to the mall and you better not complain.” Sango said to the couch, which where Miroku was hiding at the present moment. Rin got an idea. She swiftly walked over to Sesshomaru and wrapped her arms around him.
“Please? Will you go for me?” She asked very sweetly. Sango and Kagome caught on and tried the same tactics, knowing that they would fall easily.
“Oh boys...” They said seductively, catching both boys attention. They walked smoothly over to them, giving them a `pretty please' look. All three boys couldn't hold it for much longer. Sesshomaru gulped, knowing he was about to cave in. Inuyasha could hardly contain himself, starting to pant as Kagome put her arms around his waist. Miroku wasn't fairing any better. Under normal circumstances he would be willing to succumb easily, but shopping took a little more effort and seeing Sango smiling at him wasn't helping. Ayame just giggled, knowing they were done for. Under much pressure, Inuyasha was the first to surrender.
“Alright, alright, please just stop that look, Kagome, I can hardly take it!” `Bingo.' She thought. She gave him a quick kiss and responded,
“I knew you couldn't resist my look. Isn't that what you said earlier this morning?” Sesshomaru didn't exactly like his younger brother, but to give him credit for succumbing to his girlfriend's looks. Inuyasha always said no one could conquer him, but Kagome just did. He looked up at Rin and suddenly fell for it.
“Fine.” was all he could say.
“It looks like the mighty Sesshomaru has been taken down easily by a girls looks. Do my eyes deceive me?” Inuyasha remarked sarcastically. Sesshomaru just replied with a `you-better-shut-up-while-you-can' look. Inuyasha just smirked and looked over to Miroku who was pleading Sango to stop. It wasn't working. He knew Inuyasha and Sesshomaru caved in so there was no point in fighting back Sango's charm. He groaned, admitting defeat. `Hook, Line, and Sinker!' The girls thought.
“YAYYYY!!” They shouted, breaking the boys' barrier. They knew that they were in for a whole day of shopping, and figured that they would pick out some gifts.

As soon as they reached the mall, they split off into groups and walked through the various stores. The girls just entered one of their stops: a video game store: Boring, boring, and boring.
“I still don't know why they would like these kinds of things. I don't see what could be more entertaining than these.” Kagome said, staring at the various racks full of sale items.
“Now you know why they're so stupid: this right here.” Ayame said as she held up a video game.
“Even Sesshomaru plays them and he's the serious type, so I have no idea why, either.” Rin answered.
“Yeah, he looks so serious all the time. Who knew?” Sango replied at the other end of the store. It was an eventful trip to the various stores and continued to talk about how boring going to all these stores were, but at least they were shopping.
“I have no idea what to get him. What do you guys think?” Kagome asked them.
“He's your boyfriend. You should know better than anyone else.” Sango answered her. “I'm having the same problem with Miroku.”
“You know, Sango, they way you control him by your looks, it won't be long before you two marry.” Rin said from out of nowhere.
“TAKE THAT BACK!” Sango shouted at the top of her lungs. All three girls backed away and started for the other direction, laughing as they went.

They boys, however, didn't have much trouble picking out gifts for their girls.
“I'm sure Sango would like this.” Miroku said as he held up an expensive pair of earrings. They were in a jewelry store.
Sesshomaru didn't want to show his sensitive side to his brother and his best friend so he just stood there quietly, secretly waiting to see what Rin would think when she saw what he was getting her: a diamond bracelet with a gold chain, valued at ¥50, 000. `It's worth it' He thought. He deeply cared for Rin, even though he was acting totally strange and serious on the outside. He glanced over at his younger brother, who currently was in the ring section. `I may not know what goes on in his life, nor do I care, but he really cares for Rin's cousin. She just might be the person that can handle him and his ways, and by the look he's expressing now, I say he just might be thinking of getting serious.' He and Inuyasha haven't seen each other since they were young kids and held sibling rivalry all the way up to today. He lived in Yokohama where he met Rin since then. He lived with his grandparents up until he was old enough to move out on his own. Being a full dog demon he knew life wouldn't be easy living in the real world, but fortunately he met Rin a few years back and became a close-knit couple. He thought of proposing to her but couldn't find the right time to do it. `One day, I'll summon enough courage to ask her.'
Meanwhile, Inuyasha was also in deep serious thought, worrying about his own problems. `I don't know what to do. I know that I'll always love her but how am I going to pull this off?' He was looking at a beautiful ring, a platinum ring with a diamond center and encircled with tiny sapphire stones with a matching sapphire bracelet. `This is going to be a tough one. I have to ask her parents for permission, which is the difficult part and getting through to her father. Still, there's nothing that can stop me from asking her to marry me, because I know that she won't run out on me or cheat on me. She'll stay by my side, I know that now, and I won't do anything to hurt her, EVER. I'll have to wait until the exact moment to ask her to be with me, forever.' He smiled, thinking this was the right course of action. It was an expensive ring, but it didn't bother him. All the boys paid for their merchandise and continued to walk, hoping to run into the girls. After 2 hours of shopping, they met up, hands full of bags and decided to head home. All looked exhausted, but knew that they were going to like their presents. It was a long day, especially with Sango pounding Miroku, Kagome and Rin trying to prevent their boyfriends from fighting, and Ayame pulling Sango off of Miroku. Other than that, the rest of the day went perfectly normal.
