InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Rescue Me ❯ The Second Prologue ( Prologue )

[ X - Adult: No readers under 18. Contains Graphic Adult Themes/Extreme violence. ]

I'm back with a second chapter! (smiles) This is actually the second prologue. There might be at least one more prologue, I think, before the story actually starts. I'm not sure; it's just what comes to me when I write.

I wrote another version of this, but it didn't come out very well. I was going to jump right to Kagome, but I felt like this was necessary too, to introduce a part of the story that will play a role in a little while.

Oh, by the way; both versions of this chapter are the same on Media Miner and FanFiction.

Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha. Rumiko Takahashi does. I'm only borrowing her characters and twisting their lives for my own amusement.

Summary: Kagome is the daughter of a ruthless pirate who rapes, pillages and kills. Her life is turned upside down when her father's ship sinks. She meets the natives of the island that they washed up on. Dog demons. But it is the half-demon that catches her eye.

Rescue Me

The Second Prologue

Kikyo barely whimpered as she awoke to the creaking of the pirate's ship. She could still hear the screaming and yelling above and was certain that they were still at the port. A small window in the corner of the room she was placed in showed the perfect view of her family's manor in the distance. She instantly found herself violently jerked with the movement of the ship as it began to pull out of the port; they were setting sail.

She watched her home slip away, impassively. She needed no special powers to know that this spelt her death. And, after what had happened earlier that evening, she saw no more reason to live. Her innocence - something every woman cherished and could not do without until they were married - was stolen from her. Her very life may as well have been taken from her; and she knew that, once the pirate was finished with her, it would be.

She felt numb inside, but hurting all over. The pain was still there - the physical pain. She touched a hand to her lower regions to discover that she was still bleeding. The area felt tender and sore and recoiled under her touch instinctively. It still throbbed from the unyielding abuse she had suffered earlier. She held her hand up to the window, staring blankly at the blood that coated her fingers in the almost nonexistent moonlight. Perhaps, if she were lucky, she'd bleed to death tonight.

She wrapped her arms around herself and curled up into a small ball. She shivered, goosebumps appearing all over her naked flesh. She closed her eyes and buried her face into her knees, her long hair falling around her like a gleaming curtain to hide her nakedness from view. She felt that, as long a she could stay in that small ball, she could pretend she no longer exited.

“You look like you `ad it worse than me.” A gruff voice came from the other side of the cell. Kikyo scooted back out of the little light that pervaded the cell with fear evident on her face. “Ai, lookie `ere. I ain't gonna hurt ya, wench.” The male voice scoffed, sounding slightly slurred.

Kikyo looked frantically in the direction where the voice had come from. The pirate, she could handle. There was nothing more he could do to her to hurt her more. But this disembodied voice was really making her nervous. Who knew how many other men she would have defile her before she died? No, one she could handle; many she could not.

Kikyo's hollow eyes widened behind her dark bangs when the light from a lantern swinging in the hall Cast a glow upon the speaker. Long silver hair shone around him like a waterfall of fine silken threads, shielding most of his body from view. It looked wild and unkempt, tangled with the Gods only knew what. The long tangled mess hid his face as his gaze remained downwards. His clothing - or what could be seen of it - was old, dirty, and torn. Perhaps the most intriguing thing, though, were his ears. Small, silver triangles protruded from his head, instead of normal human ears.

“You lookin' at anything in particular, wench?” He growled, startling her. She clamoured backwards until her back hit the cold wooden wall, eyes wide with terror. He gave a dry chuckle. “You honestly think I Can move to attack you while I'm chained to this wall? You're a funny one, woman.”

Her eyes nervously trailed along the lines of his body. His arms were pinioned above his head, and appeared to have been for some time. He was flexing his clawed fingers in an attempt to keep the blood flowing into them. His feet were also shackled to the base of the wall, preventing him from movement in any way, shape, or form. Her mind barely registered the ofuda that were covering his restraints. Her small body trembled as she beheld him; he was like a fallen angel.

“You got the Capt'n's smell all over ya.” He grunted, still not looking up. “You his latest piece of meat?” Kikyo looked away from him shamefully. “You know, he's got a little girl up there? Asuka, `er name is.” The strange man continued to talk. “Not really settin' a good example for `er, ai?” Kikyo's mouth opened to reply. She at there with her mouth hanging open for some time. However, his next words shut her up. “You know what I'm `ere for?”

“N-no.” Kikyo managed in a weak voice.

The man laughed bitterly. “I'm `ere cause the Capt'n gets me to keep a nose on `is bitches. Tell `im when he can't use `em anymore.” He growled. Kikyo could hear him take a deep breath. He lifted his head to look at her with a sadistic grin, showing off overly large Canines. Her breath Caught in her throat at his marvellous golden eyes as they studied her, seemingly not affected by her pale, bruised flesh. “He can't use you anymore. Not for a while, anyway.”

“Wh-why?” Kikyo trembled, afraid yet anxious to hear the answer. The strange man's grin only widened.

“Well he's ne'er taken a woman who's Carryin' his pup before, `as he?” He rolled his eyes. “You're probably `avin a girl.” He grunted.

Kikyo's heart rate accelerated. Her breathing shortened. Her mind turned totally blank as the thought attempted to process in her already groggy brain. Suddenly her eyes rolled up into the back of her head, and she passed out.

The man watched her as she crumbled to the floor, sprawling out on her side. His molten gold eyes trailed along her body, noting each and every bruise that stained her porcelain skin. His nose twitched as he tried to tune out the smell of her blood, trying to find the scent of the kid in her belly. It was only weak, but it was unmistakably female. He closed his eyes and let his head hang again.

This girl… she was one of the stronger ones. She was almost broken, yes, but she still had some small spark of life deep inside. He could see it in her fear. Any woman who was completely broken wouldn't have trembled the way she did. He saw in her… strength. A reminder of why he tried to protect… but no, that was a long time ago now. He shouldn't dwell on the past.

The clanking of keys caught his attention. He didn't even look up as the revolting smell that covered up the woman's natural scent entered the room. He wrinkled his nose and growled as the man reached the girl. “You don't wanna be doin' that.” He said gruffly. The intruder jerked his head up.

“And why the hell not?” He barked.

The man chained to the wall scoffed, not even raising his head. “`Cause you already got her pregnant, you slimy, pathetic excuse for a man.” He snarled.

“Damnation!” The pirate Captain sprung to his feet. The man on the wall chuckled as the Captain clenched his fist. He didn't even flinch as the Captain drew his arm back and punched him across the face.

“You gotta do better than that.” The man goaded. “`C'mon. You're hittin' like a girl! Guess it's a good thing the kid is a girl, then.” He teased. “She's got her Papa t teach her how to swing and miss.”

“You be quiet, you understand? You filthy little… why I oughta-”

“Kill me? Throw me overboard for the sharks?” He scoffed. “Please. Do it. It'd be a step up from this.”

“You just wait…” Bankotsu sneered. “You just wait, half demon.”

And with those last threatening words, Captain Bankotsu swept out of the cell.

OoOoOoOoOoO

Kikyo awoke to someone grasping at her shoulders three weeks later. She winced in pain as whoever it was wrenched her to her feet, stuffing some sort of plain, smelly garment over her head. She twisted in the garb so that her arms were able to come out the allotted points, and whimpered as she was roughly pushed out of the cell.

Her blood ran cold as she noticed that the strange man with the dog-ears that she had become good friends with over the last few weeks was no longer chained to the wall, like he was when she'd fallen asleep mid-afternoon. Where was he? There was a small trail of blood from where his head should have been… was he injured? Was he dead?

She had to blink her eyes to adjust to the bright torchlight as she was roughly shoved on deck. There was no moon tonight. Her eyes widened and her heart began to accelerate when she saw the congregation on deck.

The Captain was standing by the mast, holding a whip. There was a strange sort of tense excitement about the crew as they watched their Captain lean up against the mast, using a knife to cut the whip's cord into a sharp, serrated edge on all angles. Kikyo sincerely hoped that they did not plan to use that whip on her!

Her fears only subsided for a moment when a man was dragged on deck. He had long brown hair and deeply tanned skin. His clothing was torn to rags and was caked with blood. His hair was a matted mess, with blood and all sorts of foul things caked into it. The Captain stepped away as he was roughly pushed to the mast, and his hands were tied to a hook above his head. His feet were forcefully spread and were tied up on hooks on the ground. Kikyo couldn't make out any of his muffled yells - he was gagged - but she assumed that they were curses.

“Bare his back!” The Captain ordered. The excitement among the crew increased as one of the men ripped the tattered cloth off his torso, leaving his back exposed for all to see. Kikyo saw some bruises on his back, but nothing overly serious. She could only imagine what was about to happen to the poor man. She could not stand to watch, and yet, she could not take her eyes away.

The Captain smirked as he slowly swaggered toward the man. The torchlight cast a flickering glow over the ship, making everything appear eerie. He reached out to the man's face and extracted the gag. The strange man did not waste any time and spoke. “You'd better enjoy this, you slimy, underhanded-”

“Oh, we intend to.” The Captain purred, brandishing the whip. “Why would we waste the one time a moon that we get to see you suffer for, and not enjoy it?” He spoke in low volumes as he coated the whip with some sort of liquid, which was immediately absorbed. Kikyo didn't know what was going on, but realised too late.

The Captain drew back the whip, and cracked it across the other man's back. Kikyo's stomach lurched at the cry of pain that the man gave off. She whimpered at the bright red welt that appeared across his back, with the sharp little cuts that the jagged edge of the whip made upon his skin.

And again. And again, and again, and again, and again. The whip left welts and cuts all over his back. Kikyo lost track of how many times he was struck, and stood, horribly transfixed, as he was struck over and over again. Soon, his back was no more distinguishable from a horror scene. It was bleeding all over, and the substance that was on the whip seemed to have some sort of poisonous effect. The wounds were already turning green and festering.

The torture continued on. Kikyo had to empty the little contents of her stomach at some point during the night and was now hiding behind one of the bulkier men, hoping and praying that it would be over soon. The man's horrible pained cries rung out all through the night, penetrating Kikyo's mind, no matter how hard she tried to block it out.

Kikyo prayed for the man's life. She prayed that the Gods would just let him die. No man deserved this punishment. But the Gods were not so merciful. His strangled yells and the crack of the whip struck through the cool night air over and over, until, finally, the man stopped moving.

Kikyo could have wept tears of relief when the Captain gave out the orders. “Untie him and throw him to the sharks.” He barked. Several men hustled to do the men's bidding. Kikyo heard the sickening splash as the body was thrown into the water. She watched him float face down, his blood tainting the water around him.

The rising sun illuminated his body. Kikyo gasped as he began to change. His dark hair transformed into flowing silver locks. His ears disappeared to be replaced with small triangles atop his head. Kikyo's stomach turned. It was the man from the cell earlier. He was a half demon.

All of a sudden, he gave a start. His golden eyes snapped open and he gave a jerk, splashing in the water. His hair was a dripping mess as he looked upwards at the smug, smirking Capitan, growling. Kikyo could see the welts and cuts on his back healing rapidly.

“Thank fuck I'm off that damn ship!” The half demon growled, though everyone on board heard him. “I hope you sink and drown, all of you.” Were the last words he said, before he disappeared underwater.

Kikyo watched in apprehension as he remerged a little way away, swimming rapidly toward an island in the distance. Kikyo began to wonder if he could make it. At the rate he was going, it was very likely.

“Don't get any ideas.” The Captain grabbed a fistful of her hair from behind and pulled her head back. She gave a whimper at the pain. “You're going to stay here and be my bitch until the day you die.” He growled, pulling Kikyo back below decks.

The pirates looked at each other as her screams of pain and fear began to come from the Captain's quarters. Ignoring the woman, they set about navigating the ship away from the half demon.

There's our chapter. I await questions or comments.

With love;

Sparkly Faerie.
