New Questions Asked, Old Questions Un-answered
(Chapter Four)

"What the fuck?" Inuyasha screamed as his face plunged into the ground from the force of the rosary beads, to which only Kagome was suppossed to be able to trigger, but Kagome was dead. Everyone, even Sango, who was, at the moment, standing naked in the hotspring, was gawking at the sight before them.
Even when the spell had worn off, no one moved. No one uttered a single word. Then, the silence was interrupted....
"INUYASHA, YOU BASTARD!" was heard in every one's ears. Sango, who finally realized she was standing naked, grabbed her towel and ran behind a tree with Riku to change, both of them blushing fiercly as the un-expected 'geust' intruded their campsite.
Kouga ran at Inuyasha while he was still laying, stunned, on the forest floor. He kicked him in his side. Hard. Riku and Sango had finished dressing by the time Kouga was kicking the shit out of Inuyasha, and Inuyasha refused to fight back. Riku looked at Kouga, and in that moment, Kouga noticed a strange smell in Inuyasha's group. The smell of a wolf demon, and he wasn't talking about himself. It was a female wolf demon. With a mix of dog and human. He only knew one girl with that scent, and in the moment he knew who it was, he was wrapped in a furocious hug.
"Kouga! Oh, I missed you! Why haven't you came to visit us lately?" Riku screamed after she had him wrapped in a hug. Kouga looked confused when he turned and saw Riku hugging him. Then he started smiling, and laughing. "Riku! I missed you, too! Where's Risa? Why are you out in the woods so far away from home, and alone?" he replied, asking question after question. "I tryed coming before, but I was told some important news, that I had to check on. Speaking of which, why are you here with mutt face? He couldn't even protect Kagome, who I left him look after....even though she was my mate-to-be." he said, turning away with tears in his eyes. Riku looked confused from Inuyasha to Kouga.
"But wait...." she said, still looking about as confused as she had when she used the rosary beads. Inuyasha looked up and glared at Kouga. "Had she told you she loved you the minute she died? With her very last breath? Leaving no time at all for you to say it back?" he said through clenched teeth, staring straight at Kouga with malice in his eyes. "....I-" Kouga started. "You nothing. She never said she wanted you. She just didn't want to reject you, and crush your relationship with her. She liked you, but she never had any intention to mate you, and you know it!" Inuyasha all but yelled. Kouga looked at Inuyasha with respect in his eyes. Then he said something that no one was expecting.
"I.... I'm sorry. I knew she would never love me the way she loved you. It was the way she looked at you. I knew when I saw it, the battle was won. You were just to stupid to notice it. I just thought one day, you would hurt her so bad, she would take me up on my offer to become my mate. I really did love her... even though I knew she would never love me back." he said after a small pause.
Gasps where heard from every one, and Riku looked up at Kouga with comforting eyes. "Don't worry Kouga, you'll find someone some day. Ayame has a big crush on you, ya know!" she said, while winking at him. Kouga thought for a moment, then looked at her with a look of love in his eyes, and winked at back at her suggestively. Riku blushed slightly and turned away and looked to Inuyasha, who was looking at her with suspicious eyes.
"How do you two know each other? Family or something?" he asked after looking back and forth between them. Riku smiled at Inuyasha and hugged Kouga tight, only to have him blush a bit and push her back. "Again, it's your human night, Riku. If the Ginta and Hakkaku come and see me with you like this, they'll know who you are, and I can't trust them not to tell anyone. I wouldn't trust your safety with anyone. Your far too important!" he said while hugging her again and pushing her back after getting a blush and shove from Riku. As she went to step back though, she tripped and went to fall down, only to have Inuyasha rush her with his demonic speed, and catch her behind the back just before she hit the ground, while Kouga had only reached out to catch her. Recieving a full glare from Kouga as he did so, Inuyasha helped her to her feet. She looked very embarrassed, and was a bright red color. Inuyasha laughed and stepped back away from her, as she swung at him.
"So, you never did answer my question." Inuyasha said after a short pause. Riku looked up to the crescent moon, smiling at the thought of the day she and Kouga met.
"We're not family....well, not technically. You see, when I was little, my father had to do a lot of.... buisness, if you will, at the wolves den, where Kouga was staying." she replied to him.
"And so, she would go with him on the trips, and stay at the den with her father, her sister, and her mother. But... one time she stayed, a couple of the full wolf demons attacked her and her sister, and that was the day we met." he continued. Riku looked up at him and smiled.
"I was trying my best to keep my little sister safe, when out of no where, some one had started attacking my attackers, with his hands hooked into the sides of his furs, the boy knocked every one of those little bastards on their asses! Me and my sister where cowering over in a corner, thinking he was coming for us next." she said, keeping every ones full attention on the story. "Then, I gulped down my fear, and stood up to battle the boy and protect my sister, knowing fully well I wouldn't win. I punched him square in the face, and he stumbled back, but didn't fall. And, much to my surprise, he just laughed at me and smiled. Then he said: 'Are you ok? I'm Kouga, do you need any help?' I was so stunned, I stood there for about five minutes with my mouth hung wide open...." she said, laughing a bit.
"So then, I reached my hand over, grabbed her chin, and closed her mouth." he smiled at her, then laughed. "Then I kissed her on the cheek and she gave me a black eye." he laughed.
"He would never leave me alone, and my sister hated that he liked me so much. She was so jealous!" Riku finished with a laugh.
"Our parents were furious!" he continued.
"Yeah, but then he'd been infatuated with me ever since." she finished with a warm smile. Inuyasha said nothing, he just sat there looking like his grumpy self, trying to hide his jealousy. It didn't work very well, though only Sango noticed, but she said nothing.
Inuyasha sat thinking for a moment, and then frowned. "I thought you loved Kagome!" he yelled at Kouga, surprising the wolf demon. Kouga looked confused for a moment and then thought about what Riku had said before. Realization came to his face as he thought about it and looked guilty.
"I did love her, but I never said she was my first love." he replied back after a time.
"Basically..." Riku continued for him. "He was a very fickle child." she ended, giggling.
"Hey! I wasn't fickle! Hmph... your just jealous because you never really fell in love with any one other tha-" Riku ran to him and covered his mouth, then started beating him on his head. "OW!! Riku! Stop it!! I didn't say his name!" Kouga screamed after he removed her hand. Riku continued to beat Kouga, and she was blushing madly. This continued for a moment or so more, everyone still staring, when someone new came to the campsite...
