Chapter 11: Caring and Preparing

Kagome woke up with the sun in her face. All the memories of yesterday flooding back to her. She opened her eyes to see Sesshoumaru standing by the peach trees. She smiled and then remembered the kiss he gave her before she went to sleep. `Is it true that he truly cares for me? What was the meaning of that kiss anyway?' Kagome stood up her wings flapping to be stretched. `Not that I really want to know but I'm curious why.' Sesshoumaru watched her get up and wanted to smirk but didn't. He could smell her confusion coming off her in waves. He stared at her walking over to him with a small smile on her face. `She thinks she can hide from me that an insult. Kagome will not hide from me tonight though.' When she reached him Sesshoumaru pulled her down to sit next to him.

“Good morning Kagome.” He said casually.

Kagome could tell in his voice that he smelt her confusion she could see the amusement in his eyes. She then thought it was rude not to comply so she repeated, “Good morning Sesshoumaru.” She wasn't hungry that's for sure and she could tell Sesshoumaru had something in store for her so she asked, “Would I be doing anything today?”

Sesshoumaru looked at her directly in her eyes and said, “You will learn how to transform back into your original form. Then you will learn how to transform back into your angel form so you can do it freely on a daily basis.”

Kagome nodded her head and became more confused. “I thought I had to stay in this form.”

“No that's not your original form so you can not. If you do stay in that form your energy will decrease by the time you fight any demon. We are going to leave this place for a few hours it seems that my lands need to be checked on. Do not worry about this place like it is your home after all we only have two more days here.” He said with a small smirk on his face.

Kagome nodded and looked out into the fields of flowers and smiled. “I guess I have to get started then huh?” she asked with a little excitement in her voice. Sesshoumaru raised an eyebrow at her change of moods so quickly. `She really is a weird creature and that's what attracts me to her.' Kagome stood up and expanding her wings while Sesshoumaru stood up so not to get hit by them.

Inuyasha sniffed the air to make sure no demons are near. Kikyo was healed and they could move but since it was early in the morning she was still sleep. He needed Kagome to get Kikyo's soul back. It disturbed him but he was in love with Kikyo and would do anything to get her back. He sighed when he realized Kagome wasn't near the castle. They camped outside the castle walls and when he smelled the air he couldn't find a trace of her anywhere near it. Sesshoumaru was missing too which made him do a small growl. Not only did Kagome try to fight him but she stayed by Sesshoumaru's side all the time. He knew he was going against fire when he saw Kagome the first time. She had changed and the look in her eyes had deepened to pure disgust towards him.

Sesshoumaru even convinced Miroku, Sango, and Shippo to join him and Kagome in the castle. Inuyasha narrowed his eyes. Everyone has turned their back on him. He didn't know being Kikyo's mate would affect him this much. Every time she was around he always acted like he actually loved her, was loyal to her, and was able to live with her, but really it was tearing him apart because the friends he grew relationships with turned on him just because of one decision. He didn't know friend relationships could be so difficult; then again he never had a real friend when he was growing up. Everybody back them always shoed him away and he had to survive by stealing from different villages. No one even took a second glance at him unless they had a weapon or some fire. That's why he was so surprised Kagome cried for him, smiled at him, and showed affection toward him, but he shoved it right back in her face when he went to Kikyo. Kagome was everything any man would want and she could get what she wants as long as she believes in herself.

Inuyasha sighed again and awaited Kikyo's awaken. She should be wakening soon since she was already dead. He wanted to walk off but if he left to go see Kagome, Kikyo can sense where he is since they are mated. Looking up between the trees and seeing the top of Sesshoumaru's castle he wished he could live there. He wished he could be loved and noticeable but he made a decision that could change his life forever. Or it did change his life forever.

Sesshoumaru grew bored after seeing Kagome transform back in forth. She was able to do it naturally and he was ready to go for all that matter. Feeling regret about something but it felt as though someone was calling for him from the outside. Someone that he wasn't very fond of. He shrugged the feeling off but it was still deep inside his mind, he didn't know why he felt this way. One time he felt this way because Inuyasha had transformed and he felt sorrow nothing but it. He didn't show it and he couldn't explain it but he had to stop Inuyasha then. He didn't care what the others thought of it but he knew that if he didn't get that feeling vanquished he would end up showing more emotion or actually going into his youkai form and destroying anything that came in its path. Not that he really cared but he hated the smell of blood all over him which numbed his nose a bit. Grabbing an apple he took a small bite out of it. He watched Kagome long enough transforming and now he wanted to tend to his lands before a threat was formed among them. When he finished the apple he called out to Kagome. “Kagome.”

Kagome stopped and looked at him with tiring eyes. “Yes Sesshoumaru?” she asked casually.

“It's time to go.” He said walking towards the exit of the paradise but he didn't expect Kagome to come flying above him giggling. Then she swooped down and grabbed him by his arms. Flying above the big crater Kagome went into the clouds and smiled down at Sesshoumaru who was just watching the scenery to make sure no signs of youkai were there. When at least a mile away from the crater Kagome slowly went back down to the ground and released her hold on Sesshoumaru when she knew he was safely on the ground. She landed gracefully on one foot then the other and walked beside Sesshoumaru closing her wings on her back. Sesshoumaru just smirked at her and said, “You are a very weird woman Kagome.”

Kagome smiled and said, “Hey I might be weird but I am intriguing yes.”

Sesshoumaru nodded and began to walk Kagome by his side.

Kagome had a lot of things going on with her lately. She was scared to find out she had five foot wings. Sesshoumaru assured her that it will be okay if they became injured because she would automatically heal herself but she was still scared. Sesshoumaru was a wise and powerful demon; one demon that held beauty and masculinity. Ever since he kissed her last night that' s all she could think about, that's why she kept practicing on transforming. She was trying to waist time and get the day over with after all after this day they will leave tomorrow night. Pulling her hand up to her heart she worried what will happen the rest of her stay with Sesshoumaru? He was a hard person to read and even his actions were weird. She saw him grab an apple and eat it slowly and was kind of strange seeing him eat. When they ate at the castle she would just eat by herself or have Rin or Sango, Miroku, or Shippo with her. She had to admit she liked Sesshoumaru. `Who wouldn't he's a total babe?!! If he was in her time women will be all over him and especially if he was famous.' Kagome snapped out of her thoughts when she sensed a weak demon coming from behind her. Sesshoumaru didn't seem to notice and she looked at him just to make sure. He looked like his usual self and he wasn't prepared for battle. When he looked back she had a worried look on her face.

“Do you not sense or smell that demon behind us?” Kagome asked scared to death. She was already trembling because when the demon was getting closer she realized it wasn't weak it was hiding the rest of its youkai power.

“Yes. He has been there ever since you left the crater he was near it when we left. I was hoping he would and knew he would follow us.” Sesshoumaru said kind of irritated.

“Aren't you going to do something?” Kagome asked getting more worried.

“We will see what he does before we make a move. I rather let him think that we don't know he's behind us.” Sesshoumaru stated silencing her.

Kagome shrugged and continued to look forward while Sesshoumaru did the same. Then she asked, “What basically is patrolling your lands anyway?”

“I go to all the villages to make sure they have what they need and make sure no other demon comes across these lands. If they do I will kill them or mattering on what they are doing I will warn them to leave.” Sesshoumaru said not even turning towards him.

Kagome nodded her head and smiled. `I wonder why he is so emotionless. No one really wants to hang out with a demon that kills just because he doesn't want you on his property. That's just like a neighbor coming to you and you shot them right in the face. That's kind of funny.' Kagome giggled.

Sesshoumaru let out a small growl. `Or maybe not.'

Kagome transformed back into her human form and sighed. Her body was really trying to keep up with her actions but it wasn't really working. She slowed her walk for a bit and then sped up to match Sesshoumaru's pace again. She still sensed that demon behind them but this time he was speeding up to catch up with them. `He must have grown bored so he wanted to get it over with.'

A long away roar could be heard and Sesshoumaru stopped in his tracks. He looked down at Kagome and said, “Run.”

Kagome's eyes widened and asked, “Why?”

“I would not repeat myself. This is a trap! Run!” he growled out with a little anger in his voice.

Kagome took a few step back and nodded running blinding to the right of her. She ran through the forest getting scratched by branches and almost tripping on roots of trees. Kagome then saw a small opening to a field of tall grass. She heard another roar and ducked into the grass closing her eyes while at it.

She heard a deep voice call out, “Wench I can smell you! Come out now!”

Kagome choked on air and wondered where Sesshoumaru was. Why was a demon after her anyway? She didn't do anything to be hunted down, did she? She shook her head at the thought and she didn't recognize the voice at all. Then she felt a warm liquid over her body like a hot spring has just been dumped on her. She opened her eyes to see Sesshoumaru bathed in blood and pieces of what used to be a demon on the ground right under him. His poisonous whip still out and a look of disgust on his face. He put away his poisonous whip away and looked at Kagome.

“Sesshoumaru…” Kagome started to say something but felt like she was dragged away from him. A demon was behind her and she could see in Sesshoumaru's eyes that he was furious. Before he reached her everything turned black.

Naraku walked into Kanna's room and smelt something strange about it. “Kanna where is Inuyasha's group? Are they still with Sesshoumaru?”

Kanna looked into his eyes with her emotionless dark gray eyes. “Yes. Do you want to see them?”

Naraku looked at her and stood there for a minute. Kanna smiled and grabbed her mirror from inside her kimono. “I understand.” The mirror swirled in color and an image of Inuyasha and Miroku arguing came on. Sango and Kagome just watching while Sesshoumaru had an irritated face. Behind them he could see Shippo, Kilala, and Rin playing.

Naraku smiled at the scene. They didn't expect a thing and he really didn't care about them now. He had to collect a few more jewel shards and then he'll attack them without warning. “That's enough Kanna. Tell Kagura that the plan will go to schedule.”

Kanna nodded and said, “Yes Naraku.”

Naraku stepped out the room and walked a few hallways down to his. He will make sure the group got hit with a hard one.

Kanna watched him as he left the room. She was just done talking to Sonoske and told him that Sesshoumaru and Kagome need to mate soon. The only way they could beat him is Kagome. She stood up and walked to Kagura's room. She walked in slowly and saw Kagura looking at her.

“Did I Naraku say its time?” Kagura said with a little remorse in her voice.

Kanna nodded and said, “Make sure Inuyasha isn't near her when you do take her. You must go now before they start to move.”

“Yeah whatever.” Kagura said taking her feather out. She jumped out her window and flew away towards Kikyo. She was supposed to get her last time but Naraku called her back to change it for today. Apparently he was emotionally sick and needed time to heal before getting Kikyo. Kikyo took a lot of his emotion when he was around and Kagura hoped that both of them would die quickly. Kikyo was like his whore anyway even though she acted tough around anybody else she would sleep with him almost every time of the day. Kagura spit and narrowed her eyes.

Kanna watched as Kagura was out of sight and walked back into her room with an evil grin on her face.
