. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Kagome and the rest of her classmates were staring at the clock-just waiting for the bell to ring. They couldn't wait until they were free from him. Him referring to Mr. Lewis, the English teacher. A few kids had passed out on their desks, and only one had enough guts to let some drool seep out of his mouth-leaving a pool the desk.

Inuyasha was drumming on his desk silently to his music that he had on super-low. He was looking at the back of Kagome's head-who was sitting in front of him. His drumming of his fingers were completely in sync with the music-some might think that he was acting playing it. At the moment Kagome had finished drawing three more pictures and now was on the verge of passing out. Mr. Lewis was reviewing and explaining chapter 7 of the book that they were reading. They all had read it-or were supposed to have.

His voice was drug on and hypnotized those who dared to look at him. Most had enough sense to watch the clock and count down till they were free to go home. Only a few minutes remained until the bell was about to ring and not a single student could sit still. Kagome's eyes drifted to the clock and she looked closely at the big hand. It seemed to have stopped or went backwards-but Kagome was going crazy.

Kagome leaned back with her eyes closed and sighed deeply. She was about to just go to sleep when his droning voice filled her ears.

"Miss Higurashi, is this merely nap time to you?" He asked sternly. Kagome eyes shot open and she saw Inuyasha smirking. She pulled her head back up and looked at her fat English teacher. He was sitting on a stool that looked like it was about to give-way.

"No sir, I just have a slight headache that's all." She said glancing up at the clock before looking back at the man.

"You may go see the nurse if you'd like, and take your bag with you. The bell will be going shortly." He said motioning to the door.

"Thank you sir." Kagome said politely as she gathered her things and placed them in her bag. She was almost out the door when she looked back in the class. Inuyasha caught her eye and he seemed to be begging her to be let out of the dungeon.

"Sir, I have to take Inuyasha with me if you don't mind." She said after contemplating in her mind about letting him stay there or not.

"Alright, you may go. But be quiet in the halls." He said as Inuyasha practically flew out of the classroom. She shut the door behind him and started to laugh quietly.

"You're something Inuyasha." She said as her laughter died down.

"I'll take that as a complement." He said flashing her a smile. "So to your locker we go!"

"Yeah, but aren't you forgetting something?"

"Now that I think of it, no."

"A thank-you would be nice! I could've left you in there to die!" She said as she flew down the stairs behind him.

"Naw, you don't need to be thanked."

"You thank me before I punch out a few teeth of yours buddy!"

He looked back at her before he fell down four stairs. She burst out laughing as she walked past him down the hall to her locker. He scrambled up and followed her. His face was a little red from the embarrassment, but he was all right. When he got to her she still had a big smile on her face.

"Go ahead, laugh it up." He grumbled.

"That's what you get for not saying thank you!" She said as she grabbed his binders and handed them to him. He shoved them in his bag and waited for her to finish up.

Then once again the siren-like bell sounded and almost scared Inuyasha to death. He really needed to get used to the bell. He looked down the hall as students started to pour down and fill the once deserted hall. She snapped him out of his daze as she slammed her locker closed-this time successfully.

"Well now I have to get home and then over to Sango's. So maybe I'll see you there?" She said walking backwards.

"Maybe, see you." He replied watching her.

"Peace."

She turned around and bounded up the stairs and out of his sight. He started walking the way she went, knowing that his bike was at the front of the school. He shoved past little grade 8's and 9's until he was only feet away from the door. He could almost feel the cool breeze and the sunshine against his face before someone blocked his way. He looked down into the face of someone who clearly wore too much make-up.

She wore a pair of tight low-rise bleached jeans and a low cut pink shirt. Her hair was tied in the back in a loose bun with strands popping out here and there. She had on no jewelry and a pair of flip flops that were too bright for her outfit. Her lips were bright pink and her eyes were a dull grey. Her face was almost a pale white, and he had to take a step back away from her. He shook the shock off and tried to go around her, but she kept getting in his way. He tried to go the other way, but she refused to get out of his way.

"Can you fucking move please?" He practically growled at her. She giggled and placed a hand on his arm.

"Wow, snappy one aren't you. I like that." She said trying to seduce him. He pulled his arm away and tried once again to go around her, but still she stood in his way.

"What the fuck do you want? Inuyasha snapped at her, on the brink of loosing it.

"Maybe your number, or a date." He looked at her horrified.

"How about I pass on both." He pushed her away with one of his arms and continued on his way.

She stood there looking dumbstruck at how he turned her down. She quickly regained composure and looked around to make sure no one saw that little misfortune. She walked away quickly back to her friends.

Inuyasha made his way over to his bike, only to see a group of big guys circling the bike rack that his bike was attached to. They were laughing at something, and their loud voices made their heads seem empty. He walked over to the closest one and poked him in the shoulder. He turned around and shoved him.

"What the hell do you want freak?" He asked giving him another light shove.

"My bike that you seem to be surrounding." He gestured towards the bike that they were all surrounding at the moment.

"It's not yours anymore, it's ours. Screw off." He said turning back around. He poked him again and this time the guy shoved him hard instead of asking questions. They just crossed the line and his patience was wasted on the girl that stopped him in the school. He dropped his bag and shoved the guy back. He stumbled into his friends who all turned to him.

"So scrawny little punk wants to fight eh?" He asked bring up his fists.

Inuyasha cracked his knuckles before the first few guys lunged at him. He easily flipped them over his back-all of them landing in a heap behind him. Two more guys lunged at him from either side trying to sandwich him.

"This is way too easy." Inuyasha said as he flipped backwards as the two collided into one another. They fell and Inuyasha landed gracefully behind them. He looked up in time to see a fist headed straight for his face. He bent backwards-matrix style. He came back up and raised his arm just in time to block another punch headed for his face. Then with inhuman like strength and agility he grabbed the next fist and held it in place before shoving the guy away.

He looked back at the others, but he only saw retreating backs. They seemed to be brighter than the ones he just took out. He laughed on the inside and scooped his bag back up. Without one more glance he unlocked his bike and headed off towards home.

"Suckers." He said as he exited the parking lot.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Kagome flew through her door as usual and traded her bag for her guitar. Souta wasn't home yet so she could just zip out the door without any questions. Her mom was reading a magazine at the table when Kagome kissed her on the head and ran out the door.

"Bye mama! See you when I see you!"

"Bye honey." She said not taking her eyes off of her magazine.

Kagome flew over to Sango's in to time-and she didn't knock over anyone either. As she popped up her board she failed to notice the figure in front of her. Her head knocked them in the side and she stumbled back, muttering apologies. She looked up and stopped what she was doing. She was staring at Kouga, the same guy who walked out on her just the other day.

He had his hair in the usual way-ponytail. He wore another one of his vintage shirts-blue with bad religion on it this time. He had on black shorts with a blue material belt and the clasp said CON40 on it. He had on his black and red Vans and the leather band with the initials on his wrist. She stared into his stormy blue eyes, looking at confusion and hurt. Her eyes must've been reflecting the same thing because he tried to talk to her.

"Kagome," He tried, his voice scratchy and soft.

"Not right now please, just not right now. I'll see you around." She said before lowering her head and walking past him to the garage-leaving him to watch her go.

She let the emotions that plagued her go and focused on the auditions. She dropped off her board and looked inside to see a very amusing scene. Miroku was lying on Sango by the drum set and Sango looked completely horrified.

"Am I interrupting something here?" She asked her friends with a grin as she took off her guitar and placed it on the stand that was hers from home.

"No! Nothing was happening." Sango said as she pushed Miroku off of her." It's not what it looks like." The two were blushing like little kids and Kagome couldn't hold back the laughter. They blushed harder as they heard her howls of humor.

"Now you two let's stop goofing around and get ready for the auditions!" Kagome said after her laughter died down. Sango sat down on the couch next to Kagome still with the red lingering on her cheeks. As Miroku started to look at the drum set, acting like he was doing something important, Sango thought back to what just took place.

[]Flashback[]

Sango was facing the drumset, making sure that everything was tuned and kept together when two arms snaked around her wait. She held her breath as she was pulled against someone's muscular chest. Their breath hit the back of her neck-sending a shiver down her spine. The breath slowly moved towards her ear, only hesitating momentarily before whispering into her ear.

"Do you know how long I've wanted to do this?" A voice whispered-the only one that could make her heart soar. It was Miroku and she knew it-but the strange thing was that she wasn't turning around and slapping him.

"W-what are you doing?" She asked quietly. Her voice was lost somewhere in the beating pace of her heart. It threatened to beat out of her chest if she didn't get it under control.

"What I've been longing to do." His breath was now at the side of her neck. His lips grazed her skin-sending shivers up and down her spine. Her eyes threatened to flutter closed but she wouldn't let them. A soft feather light kiss was placed on her neck, followed by another and another. Her breath got caught in her throat and she could barely speak. He slowly spun her around and his face came into view. She had to bite her tongue to face herself from opening her mouth as she stared into his deep violet eyes. They shone with desire-something that hers probably did right now.

"Miroku." Sango barely whispered.

He smiled before planting a few more kisses along her collarbone. Her hands rested lightly on his arms, unable to do anything else. His lips felt soft and soothing to her skin-sending electrifying feelings through her body.

"Miroku, we can't." She whispered.

"Why is that?" He said between kisses, which he trailed back to her neck.

"B-because we j-just can't." She stuttered, unable to speak properly.

"Because you're afraid of actually liking it?" He said while raising his head to face her..

His face was so close and it made Sango loose her voice completely. His eyes were darting from hers to her lips; she couldn't help but do the same. As if time was being slowed down, their lips became closer and closer until they finally connected. Miroku pulled her in closer to him-not trying to ruin their kiss. Sango's eyes fell closed and she was lost in the feeling that she was swarmed with. His tongue ran across her bottom lip and she felt tingles go through her body. Her hands gripped the front of his shirt trying to bring him closer to her.

He smiled against her lips and pushed harder. She pressed back with the same momentum, startling Miroku. Before it could've gone any further, Miroku was suddenly on top of Sango. She had a smile on her face when he looked at her.

"Oops?" He said with a slight smile.

[]Flashback[]

The auditions went great-although if you would define great as horrible and utterly boring-then yes it was really great. There was no talent at all among any of the people-not one single person. A majority of them weren't into their type of music and played kiddy songs for beginners. They were slow and didn't put any effort at all into their performance-it was a disaster.

They were all lounging on the couch making fun of the drummers when there was a knock at the side door. Miroku was the closest so he got up and made his way over to it. Kagome was having a bad afternoon and was praying that it would get better. She looked over at the door where Miroku was letting in another hopeful. A smile flew across Kagome's face when she saw who it was.

"Hey there Inuyasha, decided to show up after all?" Kagome said raising an eyebrow.

"Couldn't disappoint you." He said winking at her. She laughed at him before Sango nudged her. Kagome looked over at her to see her looking at her with one of those `looks'.

"Kagome show the man the stuff since you seem to know each other so well." She said pointing to the drum set.

"Sure, why not?" She said jumping up and walking over to show Inuyasha the stuff. He followed her like he had done all today and listened as Kagome told him about all the stuff. He nodded as he took a seat behind the set. Right away two drumsticks were pulled out and he started twirling them on his fingers as he continued to listen.

"I am praying to god that you know how to play, or else we're headed straight for the shit-hole. Go whenever you're ready bud-good luck." She said stepping away. He stopped the twirling and looked over the drums before going all out of them. Kagome's eyes widened as she remembered him saying that he wasn't that good-he was amazing. He soon finished up and looked up at shocked faces.

"Was I really that bad?" He asked looking from one to another. Kagome let a smile come on her face.

"That was awesome! And you said you couldn't play-liar." She said narrowing her eyes at him.

"Dude where the hell did you learn to play like that?" He asked completely stunned.

"Oh you know, picked it up after listening to a lot of different music." He said shrugging.

"Main inspiration?" He asked.

"I don't know, Blink, AC/DC, Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, and I don't know others." He said trying to remember. "A lot of different stuff-all genres."

"Sweet. Okay guys, group huddle!" Miroku said looking at Kagome and Sango.

"Or not, I still don't trust you." Sango said warningly. "Let's vote. Miroku, you want him?"

"Yeah, you?"

"Totally, Kag?" Kagome was looking at Inuyasha with satisfaction.

"I don't know you guys, we had so much talent before this guy." She said rubbing her chin pretending to think.

"Bullshit!" The two from the couch called.

"Alright, you're in buddy. Welcome to EXT-looks like I have to add it another character to my pictures." She said looking at him before turning back to the couch.

"Cool." Inuyasha said getting up from behind the set.

"We don't usually practice, but you never know. So come prepared. Everyday after school we hang here so you know, if you come you come." Miroku said picking at his nails in a girly fashion.

"Sounds good to me."

"Now you go home and be a good boy, we'll see you tomorrow." Kagome said from her position on the floor. He left as quick as he came and that's when Miroku yelled out.

"KAGOME WE LOVE YOU!"

"Why?" She asked confused.

"Because you're the one who told him about it in science, if you hadn't-we'd be just where Kouga left us-without a drummer." He explained. Kagome peeled herself off of the ground and decided that she wanted to head home.

"Well I'm going home, I'm hungry." She said finally deciding on an excuse.

"See ya Kagome." Sango said.

"Peace." Miroku said watching her leave. She grabbed her guitar and board before heading out the door. As soon as sounds of her skateboard hitting the ground were heard Sango grabbed Miroku's shirt and pulled him towards her.

"Now where were we?" She said with a smirk like his own. He copied her and leaned down on top of her before capturing her lips in a deep kiss.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Kagome was skating down the road with the wind blowing her hair out behind her. She was happy, but sad at the same time. Kouga was the last thing on her mind, but she could feel it lingering near the top. She glanced over and saw Inuyasha walking with his earphones on, hitting his drum sticks against his thighs to the music probably. She smiled at his little drumming session before turning back to her situation of getting home. She pushed off the ground forcefully a few times before kick flipping on the sidewalk. She looked back at Inuyasha and stuck her tongue out at him. He smirked and continued to walk at his own pace.

She turned the corner she always took and started to go faster. She was about a block away from her house when she saw a figure standing against a tree to the side. As she neared she recognized it as Kouga. He stepped into the middle of the sidewalk, blocking her path. She could tell that he wanted-no needed-to talk with her. She stopped pushing off and let herself slow down. She completely stopped when she was only a few inches away from him. His eyes met hers quickly and she could still see the emotions from earlier lingering there.

"Kagome, I need to talk with you." He said with his hands in his pockets.

"Go ahead, I'm listening." She said quietly.

"When I quit the band, I didn't want to break it off with you. I have strong feelings for you, and I don't want them to just go away. I want to be with you still, we were good together right?"

"I guess so."

"When I saw you today in school, my heart broke. I wanted to reach out and hold you, but I couldn't. I wanted to laugh with you and make you smile, but you needed time to cope. I had my own personal reasons to quit the band-reasons that I didn't feel the need to share."

"Why did you leave though, it would make sense to at least tell me." She said with sad eyes.

"I-I know, but I'm not ready to tell you. There will come a time, but not right now. But what I need to know if there still is an `us'. If you still want to be with me, because God knows that I want to be with you." She fell silent, thinking things over carefully.

"I'll tell you when you tell me. I just can't answer that until you answer me. The band was like a band, something to fall back on if we broke up. But now it's not there anymore." She said breathing deeply.

"Just because I'm not in the band anymore doesn't mean that we can't still be friends. I will stay by your side through everything, you know that."

"How do I know that it isn't a lie?" She questioned. Before he could answer she continued. "Come to me when you're ready, otherwise I'll just see you around school." She said before going around him and skating off.

Inuyasha watched from the corner at the interaction between the two. He waited patiently until Kouga was gone until he could show his face. He no longer had Kagome in view and he was left alone with his thoughts.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Kagome ran into her room without a word to her family. She slammed the door closed and turned her music on very loud. She put down her guitar and took it out of its holding case. The red metal shimmered in her bedroom light as she ran her hands over the chords. Her escape from reality was this instrument, the only thing that could keep her happy. She turned away and plopped down on her bed. She had a lot to think about for the time being.

`I wish I knew what I felt.' She thought to herself as she let her eyes close and she drifted off into the sounds of Linkin Park.
