Chapter 17: Angry
Kagome followed Sango through the large gym, except large was an understatement. This thing fit a football field inside of it! Ahead of her Sango came to a full stop, Kagome’s dress gracefully whipped around her ankles as she rushed to Sango’s side. Directly in front of them was a roped off area and directly in front of that was the curtained stage. Sango unhooked the rope and went inside. She turned to Kagome and pointed to the sign. The sign read ‘Area Reserved for Umi Sango and Higurashi Kagome.’ Kagome walked quickly to where Sango stood and watched as Miroku materialized next to the evil fairy.
“Hello my scary yet totally hot evil fairy. Here’s the backstage passes and the bodyguards will check these slips to make sure you are who you say you are. InuYasha protested we did not need them but well our record company didn’t care he destroyed half the building.” Miroku said as he handed the girls the passes and slips. “Oh yeah I’m going to open the gym doors now so prepare for the crowd.” with that he disappeared.
Kagome took the time to look at the decorated gym. Above them lights were strung to look like stars and the punch bowls were ornate and looked extremely expensive. The walls had props that looked like a castle and on one side of the gym by the main doors somebody had brought in 100 raised bushes that had different colored lights strung about in them. The whole atmosphere was fantastic and Kagome was glad she was forced to come.
“Here comes the rush.” Sango said as she crossed her bare arms and sighed. The doors were thrown open and teens rushed through the door. The crowd of stampeding hormones stopped before the stage and screamed, chanted and cried for InuYasha’s band the Demons. All of them wore costumes dealing with fantasy. Some were dressed up as demons, vampires, werewolves, fairies, witches, samurai, kings and queens and some even dressed up with a partner to look like a dragon.
Suddenly the room went pitch black and several girls screamed. Slowly a red light came on and smoke drifted from beneath the curtain. As the curtain slowly rose several girls and some guys began chanting InuYasha’s name over and over. With the curtain fully raised the stage was shown to be empty of people but props scattered the stage. Softly a guitar was heard and slowly drums began playing. The crowd quieted as the center of the stage rose slowly to reveal InuYasha holding his guitar bending over his hair covering his face. Behind him Miroku and Koga rose too, with smoke coming in thicker.
Please don’t be too long while you’re gone
There ain’t enough to keep me here too long
Not like the last time I stood in line
Just enough to keep me bouncing off the walls
InuYasha paused and shook his mane of white hair.
The new day, the new tray that comes around
Pills and all enough to kill him while he sleeps
Is this the alley we drag him to
Just off of Hollywood and Normandy
InuYasha stared at her his amber eyes glowing from behind the glasses.
If it worked like she said it would
Just like leaving Hollywood
Just like a bad dream, or so it seems
Just like I’m back in emergency
InuYasha jumped off the little platform and landed in front of her. He whispered into her ear “the last song is just for you.” and jumped back on the stage as Koga and Miroku kept the rhythm going. Pulling the microphone to his mouth InuYasha continued.
Please don’t be too long while you’re gone
There ain’t enough to keep me here too long
Not like the last time I stood in line
Just enough to keep me bouncing off the walls
If it worked like she said it would
Just like leaving Hollywood
Just like a bad dream, or so it seems
Just like I’m back in emergency
InuYasha’s voice faded and the music faded as the lights slowly turned to green making the smoke look poisonous.
So scream you, from behind the bitter ache
Heavy on the memory, you need most
Still want love, ugly, smooth and delicate
Not without affection, not alone
InuYasha stared within the tormented depths of Kagome’s eyes he took the glasses off and tossed them to her. She caught them and was memorized by the melted gold of his eyes.
And instead of wishing that it would get better
Man you’re seeing that you just get angrier
And it’s good that I’m not so angry
I just need to get over
I’m not angry, anymore
Cry when you cry, run when you run
Love when you love
Represent the ashes
That you leave behind
And instead of wishing that the road
Had shoulder
Man you’re seeing that you’re sinking
Over time
And it’s good that I’m not angry
I just need to get over
I’m not angry
It’s dragging me under
I’m not angry
InuYasha paused and glanced back at Koga. The wolf nodded as he and InuYasha began singing together.
I’m not angry it’s never been enough
It gets inside and it tears you up
I’m not angry but I’ve never been
Above it
You see through me don’t you
As the two guitars faded, the smoke turned purple and drums and guitars began their quick pitch in sound.
Father’s hands are lined with dirt from long days in the field
Mother’s hands are serving meals in a café on Main Street
With mouths to feed…just tryin’ to keep clothing on our backs
All I hear about…is how it’s so bad
It’s too bad, it’s stupid
Too late, so wrong, so long
It’s too bad we had no time to rewind
Let’s walk, let’s talk
You left without saying goodbye, although I’m sure you tried
You call the house from time to time to make sure we’re alive
But you weren’t there right when I needed you the most
And now I dream about it…and how it’s so bad
It’s too bad, it’s stupid
Too late, so wrong, so long
It’s too bad we had no time to rewind
Let’s walk, let’s talk
It’s too bad, it’s stupid
Too late, so wrong, so long
It’s too bad we had no time to rewind
Let’s walk, let’s talk
Father’s hands are lined with guilt from tearing us apart
Guess it turned out in the end, just look at where we are
We made it out…we still got clothing on our backs
And now I scream about it……and how it’s so bad, it’s so bad, it’s so bad
It’s too bad, it’s stupid
Too late, so wrong, so long
It’s too bad we had no time to rewind
Let’s walk, let’s talk
It’s too bad, it’s stupid
Too late, so wrong, so long
It’s too bad we had no time to rewind
Let’s walk, let’s talk
Long time, let’s walk, let’s talk
InuYasha and Koga’s electric guitars and Miroku’s drums kept playing letting the music slowly fade as the dark curtain slowly fell. Over the intercom a static voice said “Five minute intermission.”
