Chapter nine, A bad poem and kisses.

Rin watched as her son played with his guests. It was around one p.m. and the party had just started. Kagome and InuYasha had yet to show up, but she knew the weather was supposed to be bad down where they lived. She guessed her brother-in-law wasn't playing a race car driver on a day like this. Not with his lovely roommate by his side.

Suddenly she felt a presence behind her, as she spun around she faced her maid - Yumiko. The old woman had been with the Watanabe family for over forty years, and knew the house and its residents quiet well.

"They are here, madam." The maid bowed, smiling as Rin's excitement flashed in her brown eyes.

"Thank you, Yumiko, will you watch over the children while I go greet them?"

"Of course, madam."

Rin smiled and touched the older woman's shoulder as she past her on the way to the front. She knew that Sesshoumaru was already moving across the house, ready to join her in welcoming his brother and Kagome.

Just as she was about to open the front door, she felt a hand grab hers. She squeezed the digits lightly, acknowledging his presence. He, in turn, bent and placed a soft kiss on her neck.

Together they stepped out of their house, and set a steady pace toward the garage area.

Kagome and InuYasha had indeed arrived. And they were arguing.

Their morning had started out quiet nicely. They had shared a nervous breakfast, as both felt shy around the other. But as they had walked out of the apartment and locked the door, they were met by really heavy rainfall.

It was, in fact, storming badly when they exited their building and tried to hurry to InuYasha's car. They were of course, both soaked by the time they made it into the vehicle.

Kagome, which was the smart one, had packed towels in a tied-up plastic bag before leaving home. She had seen through the window that it was like a waterfall outside, and therefor taken a precaution.

After drying off, and sharing a laughter as their hair - which minutes earlier they had showered and combed, now, looked like two crow nests. That set a light mood, which could outshine the sun inside the car as they started their long journey.

By ten a.m. the rain had stopped falling and they decided to stop and rest. They shared the picnic basket, they had made the night before on a blanket near a lake. There were a lot of people there, so there was no room for privacy. After tossing away their trash and empty bottles, they moved to continue the drive.

Fifty minutes later, and still in a good mood. The roommates stopped at a gas station to tank up InuYasha's car. But as Kagome stepped inside to buy some candy and a magazine, the hanyou had an unexpected and very unwanted visitor.

"Well, well. Isn't it Mr. Doggie turd?" InuYasha twisted around, feeling his veins contract in irritation. He had to stifle the need to growl as the scent of wolf filled his nostrils.

"What do you want, wimp?" The hanyou continued to pump his gas as he found the source of his annoyance. He scowled at the black-haired demon and quickly noticed he had his faithful bodyguards with him.

"Nothing, I'm just saying hi." Kouga flashed his pearly white teeth in an animal-like smirk.

"Keh. Save your greetings for someone who cares."

"Now, there is no need to be hostile. So where are you hiding my woman? I can smell her." Kouga leaned heavily against one of the cement pillars that held up the roof, which was settled over the gas pumps. He saw how two amber eyes narrowed into tiny slits.

"She's not your woman. And her name is Kagome."

The wolf demon's smirk grew, "Kagome huh? A fitting name. For my future mate."

InuYasha was about to snap something back when the lady in question stepped out of the store. She had her nose in today's newspaper and was munching on a chocolate bar.

Kouga licked his lips as he greedily drank in her appearance. Her black hair was loose and hung tossed over one of her slim shoulders. The powder blue summer dress she wore was very pretty, and it fit her frame perfectly.

InuYasha had just put the gas pump away, when he noticed the wolf ogling his Kagome. A low growl started rumbling in his chest. It was set to warn the other demon that he was going too far with his observations.

Completely oblivious to the whole situation, Kagome glanced up when she heard something that sounded like an angry dog. 'What's going . . . ?'

Never finishing that thought, she nearly coked on her candy bar - when she saw a grinning Kouga standing dangerously close to her pissed off, roommate.

"Hello Kagome." The demon smirked as he moved closer.

"Eh, hi Kouga."

InuYasha quickly sprung into action, moving to stand between them.

"Don't come near her," he warned. "She's not yours to touch."

"I'm not going to take her, stupid. I just want to talk with her for a bit."

Kagome, who really didn't want a fight - walked around him. Placing a hand on his shoulder, she gave him a reassuring smile. "It's okay, InuYasha."

The white-haired boy snorted - not moving to stop her, but not taking his eyes off her either. He noticed how she gave his arm another squeeze before stepping up to the wolf-demon.

"So, what do you want to talk about?" She asked curiously, silently wondering why he was interested in her. She was human after all, and by the look of things - Kouga only socialized with other demons.

"I just wanted to tell you, you look beautiful today," the wolf smirked.

"Um, thanks." Kagome blushed. It wasn't often someone told her she looked pretty.

"And I wanted to ask you, why are you wasting your time with that freak over there," he motioned with a clawed hand toward InuYasha. "When you can have the real thing, right here."

InuYasha scowled at the wolf as he puffed his chest, trying to prove how strong he was. "Keh. What, a fucking joke." He mumbled under his breath.

Not knowing how to reply to that, without lying - Kagome reversed the situation. "I mean no offense, Kouga. But why are you interested in me? I'm human."

"Why wouldn't I be? You're the most beautiful woman I've ever seen." The girl was taken back a bit by his answer. His blue eyes flashed in honesty, and she found herself blushing again.

"You're like a sun on a dark clouded day, or a long forgotten moon . . . "

Kagome, InuYasha and even Kouga's friends stared at the black-haired demon. He was reciting a really cheesy poem. One that you wouldn't use if you wanted to get somewhere with the female in question. However, the raven haired beauty couldn't help to think it was . . . kinda cute. No one had ever done something like this to her before.

As Kouga finished, he reached for Kagome's hand, to kiss it - but was instantly slapped away by a protective boyfriend.

"I said . . . don't touch her."

The warning came out a vicious snarl, forcing the rivaling demon to back away. "Come on, dog-boy! Show me what you got! ." Kouga got into a battle stance. He was over confident he could beat InuYasha anytime or any day.

"Stop it!" Kagome screamed. "I don't want you two to fight!"

"Keh, it ain't like I can't take him, Kagome."

"What's that, puppy? You think you can defeat me!?"

"Damn straight, you wimp!"

"I dare you to say that again!"

"Wimp!"

Kagome moved to stand between them, as their words grew harsher. "Please, Kouga, just leave."

"Fine," the wolf relaxed and then smiled at his love interest. "It was nice seeing you again, Kagome. Remember, give me a holler if this thing dies. We're meant to be, you're my woman."

InuYasha watched as the demon trio stepped away and disappeared behind the gas-station. He turned to face his roommate, who was staring wide eyed at him.

"Why did you do that!?" She demanded, feeling anger boil within. "I don't need your protection! Kouga was only trying to talk to me!"

"Keh! He was flirting! He was about to kiss you," he spat out, angrily.

Stomping off to his car, InuYasha opened the door and slid inside, expecting her to follow.

Kagome didn't even move. She couldn't believe what had just happened. The venom in his voice, his jealous fit. 'Jealous?' Some anger dimmed away, as her mind started functioning again. 'InuYasha is jealous? But why . . . ? Does he really like me that much?'

"Are you getting in, princess, or walking?" The voice of her roommate snapped her out of her thoughts. He was really pissed off, but so was she. What right did he have to choose who got to touch her or not?

Kagome climbed into the car, not speaking. That was how the rest of the way to the summer house was spent - in complete silence.

They didn't talk at all - until they reached the garage and InuYasha refused to give Kagome her backpack. He even locked the trunk before she got a chance to reach for it.

"Hey! I'd like to get my clothes!" Kagome pointed toward the car as the hanyou started stepping away.

"Keh. Well too, fucking, bad! I'm not opening it back up!"

"What's your problem!?"

"My problem?" InuYasha echoed, "My PROBLEM? You're the one with a problem!"

"I have a problem? Please, do tell me how you figured that one out!" Placing her hands on her hips, she awaited his answer.

His eyes narrowed, and he stalked up to her. With every movement he choked out his reply, "I don't lead someone on and then let another person think I am up for grabs!"

Kagome took a step closer, poking her finger against his chest. "I never did that, and you know it. Kouga was just being friendly!" Her face was flushed with anger.

InuYasha grabbed her hand in a tight grip, preventing her from stabbing him with it again, "He wanted to . . . touch what wasn't his."

"I don't belong to anybody but myself!" She tried to pull free, but he wouldn't let her. Suddenly he pulled her up firmly against his chest. His eyes burning into her.

'You're mine!' The beast in his soul, growled possessively.

Kagome never saw it coming, she gasped as his lips crashed down on hers in a bruising manner. She couldn't help the moan that escaped her throat as he claimed her in an electrifying kiss. With her back against the wall, one hand still in his. The other fisted in his Tee-shirt and his body crushed against hers - her eyes drifted shut as she opened up to him, allowing him to nibble and abuse her lower lip as he pleased.

InuYasha groaned into her mouth, her taste so unique, sweet and utterly delicious. His mind was shutting down, he stroked his tongue with hers - half-expecting her to pull away, but she never did.

This was how Sesshoumaru and Rin found them, as they entered the garage - entangled in a passionate lip lock. Rin almost squealed out of happiness, but was instantly hushed by her mate who pulled her back outside.

"I think they would like some privacy," He stated firmly, yet slightly amused. She nodded and followed him back into the house.

Back in the garage, the roommates were still kissing. Somewhere they had been dimly aware of someone watching them, but whomever it was left rather quickly so there was no point in breaking apart. However, the need to breathe and grasp the situation; surfaced soon after, and the duo separated.

Kagome blushed, as she met his questioning gaze. The corner of her lip tugged up in a soft smile, which he returned. They were still standing close, both hearts fluttered like a thousand wing birds. They couldn't remember what they'd been fighting about, or what had led to the kiss. But they didn't care, they both secretly wanted to do it again.

InuYasha sniffed the air, expecting to find nothing but his woman's arousal but it was laced with the house owners cologne and perfume. Growling low, he took a step back. "They saw us."

Her spine stiffened, "Who? Oh no, Rin?"

He nodded, "And my brother too."

"I thought someone was looking, but I wasn't sure . . . "

"Keh. Knowing my sister-in-law, you have your night cut out for you."

Kagome smacked a hand on her forehead, moaning softly. "What am I going to tell her?" She shifted, and broke the eye contact. "What are we? I don't even . . . know that."

InuYasha retook the step toward her, once again pinning her to the wall. "We are more then friends . . . " His eyes locked with hers, he smiled softly, "I hope."

She nodded eagerly as he leaned forward and recaptured her lips much more gentle this time. One arm went around his neck, pulling him closer - the other hand on his face. His arms were around her waist, where he held her tight.

He felt her soft fingers stroking his cheek, jaw and continued up his hair toward his ears. He growled softly when she found them, stroking and pinching in a tender caress. Wave, after wave of desire flooded him. He needed her to stop, his erection now straining in his pants.

Reluctantly InuYasha lifted his head, breaking the kiss. "We . . . need . . . to stop."

Kagome was about to complain when she felt something poke against the lower part of her stomach. Her eyes widened slightly, "uh, yeah. Good idea."

They both blushed, looking away for a second. Suddenly a car motor was heard, and the loud voices of several kids.

InuYasha looked at the door, then back at his roommate. "Eh, we should go inside. I'm sure Yukio will come looking for us soon if we don't."

Kagome nodded, and stepped away from the wall. She scanned the floor for her bag, and was instantly reminded of what had happened minutes earlier. "Um. Can I have my backpack now?"

Running a clawed hand through his hair, InuYasha cleared his throat. "Eh Heh, yeah." He walked up his car and popped the trunk. After lifting her bag out and picking up his own - they both walked into the house and toward Yukio's birthday party.

After an incredible day, which provided, hugs, cake and a slight headache from screaming kids. Kagome found herself unpacking her bag, with a curious Rin sitting nearby.

"So, when were you going to tell me?"

"Tell you what?" Kagome took out her socks and tucked them away. She wasn't going to make it easy on Rin. She knew she had "spied" on them.

"About you and Inu! We saw you, so out with it, woman!"

'Talk about right on the money,' Kagome giggled softly, but blushed. "Eh, well there isn't much to tell really. We're . . . more then friends."

"So, is that some new hip way of saying you're a couple?" Rin frowned. She was confused. The lip-lock she'd seen them share, was . . . steamy, to say the least.

"No. We've only kissed three times, so far. He wants to take me on a date, while we're down here."

Rin smiled brightly, "Really? Is he making it a surprise?"

"I suppose so . . . he hasn't told me where we're going, if that's what you're asking."

"Interesting, let's just hope he doesn't drag you to Wac-Donald's." The girls burst out laughing, the thought of him doing just that - was scarily possible.

An hour or so later, Rin was satisfied with the answers she'd gotten. After bidding her friend a good night, and "see you in the morning." She closed the door, leaving Kagome to prepare for bed.

The alarmclock, showed it was a few minutes past ten p.m., when Kagome got out of the shower and dressed for bed. After pulling on a pair of new underwear and a Tee-shirt, she crawled between the soft covers. The smell of crisp new sheets met her nose as she buried her face in one of the pillows.

Flipping over to her back, she sighed deep. 'I wonder what InuYasha is doing. Maybe he's sleeping, or showering . . . Kagome! Don't think like that.' But it was too late. She was already growing hot by the thought of him, naked. She'd seen him before, and even if it was over a month ago, she remembered it like it was yesterday.

However, her thoughts were knocked right out of her head when someone knocked softly on her door. At first she thought it was Rin, and jumped out of the bed totally forgetting how she was dressed. But when she opened the door, her jaw almost hit the floor.

Outside stood InuYasha, holding a huge book and his pillow. He was dressed in a black wife-beater and dark silky Pj bottoms. His hair was loose and the conceal-spell dropped. During the birthday celebration, he'd kept the ears hidden.

InuYasha, in turn almost instantly dropped his gaze down to her naked legs. His mind was instantly swamped with fantasies of him touching them - laying between . . . 'Oh dear Gods. I have to get these fucking hormones under control.' He broke his thoughts and quickly looked up, but almost started grinning when he noticed her eyes were glued on his chest.

"Eh, hey." He greeted her softly, not wanting to scare her.

Kagome looked up and blushed as she realized she'd been staring. "Oh, hi."

"I hope I didn't wake you." He motioned toward her garment and blushed again. Kagome grew confused, but as she looked down to see what he meant her whole body turned bright red.

She dashed behind the door. "Eh, no. Let me get some more clothes on."

InuYasha blinked as the door slammed closed in his face, only to seconds later open presenting a now dressed Kagome.

He smiled a soft smile and reached for her. Hesitantly she took his hand and followed him down the hallway, and staircase. The house was dark, no one was awake except them. InuYasha seemed to know where he was going, so Kagome allowed him to lead her.

"Where are we going?"

"You'll see."

She had no clue as to where they were, when he finally stopped and dropped his hand from hers. They were standing in front of a door, which he opened. Stepping inside, he grabbed her hand again, kicking the door closed behind him.

Kagome gasped as they walked up to a huge painted window. It was beautiful, she'd never seen anything like it. She realized they were in some sort of library, but there were pillows and a low table on the floor in front of the artwork.

The image was that of four males. Every single one had silver hair, and golden eyes. She recognized InuYasha and Sesshoumaru, but the other two looked older. "Who are they?" She asked as she took a seat on the pillows.

Her roommate joined her and smiled, "That's me, my brother, my father and his father."

"Wow, you all look so . . . alike."

"Yeah, I'm the only half-demon though. They are all demons. Or were."

She noticed the sadness in voice, and turned to face him. He smiled at her, but his eyes told a different tale. "Does that . . . bother you a lot?"

"To be hanyou?"

She nodded.

"Keh. No, of course not . . . "

He stiffened slightly when she leaned forward, grabbing his shoulder in a gentle manner. Her eyes pleading with him to be honest. He swallowed hard, before confessing. "Sometimes."

"I'm sure your father loved you unconditionally, mixed-breed or not." Kagome turned toward the painting again. "You look so much like him."

"I do?" InuYasha felt his throat tighten, he so didn't want to cry. That's not why he'd brought her there. The last thing he needed was someone feeling pity for him.

She nodded, and smiled brightly - unaware of her roommates feelings. She faced him, meeting his golden eyes with her brown ones. They sat in silence for a while, both deep in thoughts. InuYasha was the first to break it, by opening the book he'd brought.

Kagome smiled when she realized it was a photo album. She crawled to sit next to him. He turned to the first page and chuckled low. "That's my father," It was a black and white picture of a man wearing a tuxedo. In his hand he was holding flowers and a hat, his hair was slick and combed backward and away from his face.

"He's handsome." Kagome commented before he turned the page and showed a black-haired woman. She was busy trying to bathe a wild little boy.

"My mother . . . " His voice was dark. Kagome guessed the boy she was washing was InuYasha, and the photo brought him heavy memories. She placed a hand on his thigh and smiled at him, as he looked at her questionably.

"Please continue." And so he did. He flipped through the pages slowly, explaining to her who was in it. The closer to the end they got, the more recent pictures were presented. There was a large photo of a birthday celebration, Rin's to be exact. And another of Yukio, laying cuddled up in his crib, sucking on a clawed thumb.

Then there was a recent family photo. InuYasha, Sesshoumaru, Yukio and Rin. They were all there and it was taken outside on the beach. "This was taken when Sesshoumaru bought this house, five years ago."

"How many houses does he own?" Kagome asked curiously. She was aware of this being, the summer home. And that his brother was a very wealthy man.

"Keh. I lost count. But I can guess, and my guess would be . . . ten."

"Ten!?" Her eyes flew wide open, "Why so many?"

InuYasha shrugged. "I don't know. Why don't you ask him?" He chuckled as she started blushing.

"I don't need to know that badly."

"Relax Kagome. I know, my brother can be intimidating, but he's a good guy."

"If you say so. Still, not asking him though."

Sighing, InuYasha leaned back on the pillow he'd brought. He looked at his roommate, and resisted the urge to pull her down on top of him. Instead he stretched and yawned. It was getting late, but he liked being there with her. She was so different from other girls he'd met.

Kagome glanced at him from the corner of her eye. She noticed him looking at her, something flashed in his eyes. The thought of the first kiss came back to her. He had asked her if she liked him. But he hadn't said he liked her in turn. 'Don't be stupid Kagome. Of course he likes you. I seriously doubt he'd kiss someone he didn't like . . . '

However, the need to hear it took over and she found herself saying it out loud; "InuYasha, do you like me?"

InuYasha blinked at sat up, "What?"

He noticed the blush on her cheeks as she looked down at her hands, "um. Do you like me?"

"Keh, of course," he replied so fast he even startled himself.

Kagome faced him, her blush now deeper. "Really?"

He nodded slowly, realizing how close they sat. The memory of the two kisses they'd shared in the garage flickered in his mind. She must have thought of the same thing, for suddenly their lips were sealed together.

They fell back on the pillows and soft carpet. InuYasha at the bottom, Kagome on the top. Her fingers were in his hair, and his against her rib cage.

Like silk against her skin, his lips pressed gently against hers. Kagome's insides were growing warm, her blood rushed faster in her veins - she got bolder, grew more courage.

InuYasha stifled a groan, as her tongue dipped into his mouth. He welcomed her, feeling his arousal start. But instead of pushing her away, he pulled her up and closer.

With her mind shutting down, Kagome was dimly aware of her damp underwear. She didn't want to pull away, she wanted to stay like this forever. She felt him move her, hold her tighter and didn't protest. The fact that he wanted her as much as she wanted him, was overpowering. But was she ready to go to the next step? Did she want to have sex?

Reluctantly she broke the kiss, bringing a protesting groan from the half-demon under her. "We shouldn't . . . " Kagome was surprised she could still talk, but made no move to break away. He felt so good underneath her. So soft, yet hard at the same time.

InuYasha opened his eyes and looked at her, seeing her hesitation. She was still laying on him, her body pressed against his. He didn't want to let her go, but he understood her fear. He had never gone further then this before either, and the thought of having sex scared him too.

"But I don't want to stop . . . " Her confession broke his thoughts.

"Neither, do I . . . "

Holding her tight, he rolled so she was underneath him. Not wanting to force himself on her, he waited til she took the initiate to start the kissing again. But instead she started blushing and looked away. InuYasha frowned, hooking his finger under her chin - bringing her eyes back to his. "What?"

Her reply was so low he almost didn't hear her, "I've never done this before . . . "

He arched a brow at her, what did she mean? "Are you talking about kissing?"

She shook her head, but then frowned and nodded. "I've never tongue kissed anyone . . . but you. And I've never . . . had sex."

InuYasha blushed, but smiled softly. "Neither have I, had sex I mean."

Her eyes, now wide darted to his, "You've never . . . ?"

He shook his head.

"But what about your ex-girl . . . "

"Keh. She didn't want to. And now I'm glad we never did anything. She ended up cheating on me, by sleeping with another man."

"Oh . . . I'm sorry InuYasha."

"Don't be. I'm not."

There was a slight silence, Kagome thought of how weird it was that he was a virgin. He was so good looking he wouldn't have had a problem finding someone willing enough to do it with him. But she remembered Rin had told her he'd been with the same girl for five years.

'Wow, talk about dedication. He must have really loved her.'

InuYasha, in turn was seeing all the emotions flash in her brown eyes. 'Amazing,' He thought as he continued to gaze at her. She felt so good in his arms he didn't want to move, but his right arm was falling asleep. Slowly he pulled it from its awkward position and straightened it before putting it back down, next to her.

Noticing him move, Kagome snapped out of her thoughts only to have her breath caught by the way he was looking at her. His amber-colored eyes were soft, and full of unanswered questions. She too felt a bit insecure and uncertain.

"Kagome," His deep warm voice brought her back to reality, she started breathing again.

"Hm?"

"Maybe this is a bad idea. I mean, maybe we should wait with all the kissing til . . . you know."

She nodded, "yeah."

There was no need for words, she understood what he meant. Kagome was more then willing to wait, but part of her was disappointed. The kisses they had shared were so earth-shatteringly good.

Reluctantly, the roommates sat up and broke apart. InuYasha grabbed his pillow and photo album and stood up. Kagome followed him out of the room, and he took her hand leading her through the dark rooms and hallways.

It didn't take long before they reached her room, where he bid her a goodnight. But before she could open her door, he stopped her with a hand on her shoulder.

"InuYasha?" She turned to face him, he was looking a bit nervous.

"Eh, tomorrow . . . would you like to go on that date?"

Her heart flipped behind her rib cage. "Sure, what time?"

He shrugged, trying to look and sound indifferent but failed miserably. "Seven?"

She nodded, and hugged him. "Seven it is."

As she closed the door that night, her heart was thumping hard. She felt so odd when she was with him. One moment she was bold and forward, the other nervous and shy. Kagome could only hope her feelings would clear up, the closer they got.

InuYasha made his way down to his room. His thoughts were with his roommate, and how she made him feel. He knew that everything was new that some things he felt for her he couldn't even name, things he hadn't felt before. His fingers itched to touch her again, and his mouth watered as he recalled her taste.

He was determined to make this work. She was very special, and he had no intentions of letting her go.
