The strangely illuminated landscape of hell surrounded Kagome, Sango and Rin where they huddled. The defeat of Naraku had gone terribly wrong, and now they were separated from the rest of the group.

 

`InuYasha, InuYasha where are you?' Kagome thought in despair.

 

Suddenly, Kagomes eyes went wide in surprise. What was that she was hearing? It was not near them -Sango and Rin were not reacting. It was…in her mind?

 

`Kagome, Kagome!'

 

Mouth open in shock, Kagome realized she heard InuYasha calling her name in anguish in her mind.

 

“What is it?” Sango said.

 

“I hear InuYasha…in my mind.”

 

Astounded, Sango thought a moment.

 

“It must be your karmic link to him,” Sango said. “Try and see if he can hear you.”

 

Biting her lip and concentrating, Kagome tried to use her karmic link to reach her lover, the father of her unborn child.

 

`InuYasha, InuYasha…can you hear me?'

 

`Ka…gome? Is that you?...Where are you?!'

 

`We are in hell, we got sucked in after Naraku. Come find us InuYasha!'

 

`But…how can I hear you in my mind?'

 

`It's the karmic link, go to Masahiro and find out how to use it to find us!'

 

`Can we use it…for other things?'

 

`This is no time to be thinking of the Tantric training! Quickly InuYasha, Sango, Rin our baby and I need you!'

 

`Right, I'm on it!'

 

Kagome sighed and smiled hopefully.

 

“So?” Sango said. “What happened?”

 

“Don't worry,” Kagome said. “Our karmic bond is strong - nothing will come between us.”
