Coming In From the Cold
The winter's blast of snow seemed to blow the lone figure into view. The red of his suikan and hakama could just be made out through the snow, as he came home from a long three days work. InuYasha opened the door and stepped into his house.
`I'm starving!' InuYasha thought, and spied a cook pot by the fire.
Eagerly, InuYasha scooped some udon into a bowl. Taking a bite, he made a face.
`Feh, its cold!' InuYasha thought sourly. `Where the hell is my wife anyway?'
Disgruntled, he wolfed it down anyway. But it felt like a cold, hard lump in his stomach. Then he went looking for Kagome.
Pushing open the door to the sleeping room, InuYasha saw Kagome curled up on her futon under a blanket. On a small pallet nearby slept their three year old son. Kagome's eyes cracked open, and she gave him a sleepy smile.
“You're home,” Kagome said softly. “Did you find the food?”
“Yeah, it was cold,” InuYasha replied.
“I'm sorry,” Kagome responded. “Yukio and I were cold, and before we came in here I took the pot off the fire.”
“Keh,” InuYasha said with a shrug. “I'm sick of the cold.”
A slender arm reached out to him, beckoning him to their bed.
“Come husband, let me warm you up,” Kagome said sweetly.
InuYasha sighed, and curled up on the bed in front of her. Kagome wrapped her warm body around his. Finally feeling at home, he was not cold anymore.
