Once there were three great kingdoms ruled by three youkai lords. Each kingdom was powerful in its own right as each lord possessed a unique heritage.
To the west and the south ruled an inuyoukai by the name of Sesshomaru. He had long, flowing silver hair, piercing golden eyes, two smooth, red stripes on both of his cheeks and a blue crescent moon in the center of his forehead.
He had inherited his kingdoms from both his father and his uncle, distinguished members of a long and proud line of inuyoukai. Their blood, out of all the inuyoukai clans, was the strongest. They possessed both beauty and intelligence, and were among the few that could boast (if they dared) about the beauty, prowess, and intelligence of their hanyous.
In line to inherit his kingdoms, should he fail to produce an heir of his own, was Sesshomaru's younger half-brother, Inuyasha. Like nearly all inuyoukai, Inuyasha bore the golden eyes. Not as piercing as his brother's but they held an intensity that no other could match. Unlike Sesshomaru himself, Inuyasha had silvery-white hair, a trademark from their father. He had puppy ears upon the top of his head and no facial markings of his kind. Still, he was quite the sight to behold and all clamoured for his favour. Many nobles often asked for alliance with the inuyoukai lord by way of marriage to the boy, but Sesshomaru refused. None of the nobles suited him when it came to his family's bloodline. He required no alliance with anyone, though they would still offer.
One that constantly kept clamouring for an alliance was the lord to the east, a strange youkai by the name of Naraku. No one knew where he truly came from. Everything about him had become shrouded in mystery and intrigue. The only thing anyone truly knew about him was he had long, flowing black hair, bright crimson eyes, strong, and he was feared by many. Those who opposed him were never heard from again and Sesshomaru did not trust him with his family's proud and noble bloodline.
The only king who had not seemed inclined to catch the inuyoukai lord's eye was the king to the north, a wolf youkai by the name of Kouga. The wolf was the youngest lord to have ever ruled in the north, and he happened to be brave, compassionate to his subjects, and fearless in battle. He had also never met the inu youkai lord to the south and west, instead sending vassals to meet with Sesshomaru and choosing to patrol his own lands, making sure they were safe for all of the inhabitants.
Al of that was about to change.
