Chapter 1

The First Day

Kagome walked into the school building. It was her first day. She had just moved to Tokyo about a week ago from Kyoto. She was kind of nervous. She didn't like meeting new people.

Students were already walking around the school. She had come early because she hadn't gotten her schedule yet. She didn't even know her way around the school or anything. She just walked around looking at everything until she bumped into someone.

"Gomen." She said as she stood up. She picked up a book and handed it to the person she bumped into.

"It's ok I should be the one to say sorry." She took the book.

Kagome looked at her. She was at least two inches taller than her. She had her school uniform on. She had long straight black hair. She had brown eyes and pink eye shadow on.

"Are you new here?" She asked.

"Ah hai. It's my first day." Kagome said. "Higurashi Kagome."

"Hiraikotsu Sango. Did you need help finding a class or anything?" She asked.

"Actually I don't have my class schedule or anything do you know where I go to get one?"

"Hai, just follow me."

They walked down the hall and chatted. They were getting along pretty well. It was as if they'd known each other for years. Sango stopped in front of a door.

"This is the main office. You can get your schedule in here." Sango said.

"Arigato. Gomen if I took too much of your time." Kagome said.

"Don't worry I wasn't doing anything anyway. Actually there's still a lot of time before class starts do you want me to help you find your classes after you get your schedule?"

"That would be great. Arigato." Kagome said. They both walked into the office.

Kagome got her classes and they stepped out of the office and into the hallway. A lot more students were starting to show up. She looked at her classes and sighed. She had a feeling she was going to get lost today.

"Let me see your schedule Kagome." Sango said. She took the piece of paper and looked at it. "You have three of your classes with me."

"Really?"

"Yeah we have first period together. We should get going to our classes now. Come on."

Kagome nodded and followed Sango. She was glad Sango was in her first period. Then that way she would at least know where it was.

They walked into the classroom and chose seats next to each other. As soon as they sat down the bell rang for class to begin. The class was history. Which was good for Kagome because she lived at a shrine before she moved.

After class Kagome looked at what her next class was. It was math. She hated math. She was bad at math. She looked at Sango. She didn't have that class with her.

"Come on Kagome I'll show you where your next class is since we don't have it together." Sango said and dragged her to her left.

After bumping into a lot of people Sango finally stopped in front of a door. "Here is your math class." She said.

"Arigato Sango I don't know what I'd do if you weren't here to help me." Kagome said. She waved goodbye and walked into the room. She sat down hoping that the class would end quickly.

_________ (Just to let you know I'm not going to go into detail about her classrooms or the school. It would take to long.)________

The bell had rang for lunch. Kagome got out of her seat and walked out of the classroom.

She walked into the lunchroom and looked around. She didn't know anyone. She looked for an empty table or something so she could sit down and eat. Suddenly she felt a presence behind her. She turned around to see a guy standing there.

He was about a head or two taller than her. He had long hair pulled back into a ponytail. He was wearing a school uniform. "Are you new here?" He asked her.

Kagome jumped a little when he spoke. "Hai, it's my first day." She said. She didn't like the way he looked at her.

"I'm Ookami Kouga." He said.

"Higurashi Kagome." She said.

"Kagome, nice name. So would you like to eat lunch with me?" He asked her. He stepped toward her.

Kagome took a step back and was about to decline when someone from her right said something.

"She actually promised she'd eat with me." It was Sango. She had seen Kouga with Kagome and went to go save her.

"Gomen Kouga." She said and followed Sango. As soon as they were outside she said, "Arigato for saving me back there."

"No problem. Kouga is really full of himself. Stay away from him." Sango said.

"I'll try." Kagome said.

"So would you like to eat with me and my friends?" she asked. "It would look bad if I told Kouga that and he found out I lied."

Kagome laughed. "Sure. I don't know anyone else in this school."

"Well you know me. I'm sure we'll be great friends." She said. Kagome nodded. They walked across the campus. The school was really big. They walked toward a bench with two guys sitting on it.

"Miroku, Inuyasha." Sango waved at them. The guys waved back.

Kagome saw the two guys and stopped. Sango looked back at her when she realized she wasn't following. "You go ahead Sango I think I'll eat by myself."

"You already said that you would eat with me and my friends? Is something wrong?" Sango asked.

"No, everything's fine it's just that I don't like meeting new people." She said.

"Aww come on they won't bite or anything I promise." She said.

Kagome hesitated but then nodded. She couldn't get into any trouble right? She moved from her problems everything was ok now. They walked over to the guys Sango had waved at earlier and sat down on the ground in front of them.

"Sango who is your new friend?"

"This is Kagome. Kagome this is Miroku and Inuyasha." She pointed to them as she said their names.

Miroku had short hair tied into a stubby little ponytail. He had blue eyes. Inuyasha had long silver hair that was tied into a low ponytail. He had dog ears on the top of his head which meant he was a youkai. What really caught her attention was his amber eyes.

"It's nice to meet you Kagome." Miroku said.

"Nice to meet you too."

Inuyasha didn't say anything. He was too nervous. He thought Kagome was beautiful. She had raven black hair that stopped just above her butt. She had beautiful brown eyes. He didn't say anything he just looked at her.

They all talked during lunch. Well everyone but Kagome. She barely said a thing. Anytime they tried to ask her a question she just looked away. She didn't want to answer some of their questions. She didn't want people to know about her past.

The bell rang to end lunch. Kagome handed the paper with her classes to Sango. Since she didn't know where it was.

"Your next class is with Inuyasha. He can show you to it." She said.

Inuyasha just looked at her. He nodded and started to walk toward a trashcan to throw away his garbage. "You don't mind if I stop at my locker do you?" He asked her.

"No it's fine with me." She said.

"Do you need to go to your locker?" He asked her.

"I don't have one. The school said that all the lockers were taken."

"You can share one with me if you want. I don't use too much room." He said.

"Arigato." She said. They walked to his locker in silence. Inuyasha didn't know what to say to her. He didn't know why but he felt nervous around her and calm at the same time. He was surprised she was still hanging around him. He was a hanyou. She must not have noticed.

After stopping at the locker they walked to the classroom. He told her he'd give her the locker number and combination when they got to class. They both sat down next to each other.

Kouga saw them and walked up to Kagome. He was glad she had the same class as him. He didn't like how she was hanging out with Inuyasha. In his eyes he was nothing but a good for nothing hanyou.

"Kagome it's too bad you couldn't have lunch with me. Would you like to sit next to me over there?" He pointed to the other side of the room.

"I'm fine sitting next to Inuyasha." She said.

"You shouldn't hang out with him. He's a hanyou you know." Kouga said.

Kagome looked at Inuyasha. So that's why he had the ears. "Are you really?" She asked Inuyasha. He just nodded. He was sad. She probably didn't want to hang out with him now.

Kouga smirked. "How about sitting next to me?" He asked again.

"I told you Kouga I'm fine sitting next to Inuyasha." She said.

"He's a hanyou why sit next to him when you can sit next to me? A full youkai." He asked.

"I don't care about that kind of stuff. It's not what you are it's who you are and Inuyasha's been nice to me so far." She said.

Kouga snorted and walked away. He would get her. Even though he'd just met her today he decided that she would be his woman. He would just have to wait a while to take her out.

"You really don't mind sitting with me?" Inuyasha asked.

"No. I'm not the type of person to judge people by blood." Kagome said. The teacher walked in as the bell rang and everyone looked forward.

Inuyasha smiled. She didn't care he was a hanyou. There were very few people who looked past that stuff like Miroku and Sango. He was glad Kagome was looked past it too. Even though he just met her he already started to like her.

Read and review. Tell me what you think of my fic. Am I doing a good job so far? As you can tell it's A/U. Not too much though. Some personalities have changed and some haven't. Inuyasha is nicer than he is in the anime. Other characters will show up too. Sayonara.
