Chapter 20

A Walk Through The Park

Everyone was once again watching TV. They had told Kagome that nothing happened. They also told her that Naraku went back to his old school. The look on her face told them she didn't believe that.

She tried her best to hide it. She knew Naraku would never give up so easily. He was never one to back out of a challenge. He usually had other people fight for him. He barely ever did any of the dirty work himself.

She had called Shippo and told him what had happened. She had to tell him over and over again that she was ok. He insisted he visit her. They were all waiting for him to come by. Then there was a knock on the door.

Inuyasha answered it. He didn't want Kagome near any doors or windows. Kagome thought he was being overprotective and paranoid. Inuyasha didn't think he was doing enough. If he had his choice she would be locked in a basement with no windows and no access in or out of the place.

Of course nothing like that was real so he just kept her away from everything. "Hey Shippo." Inuyasha said. He opened the door a little wider and let him in.

Shippo took one look at Kagome and gasped. "Kagome." He yelled. He ran to her and hugged her. The hug knocked her down so she was lying on the ground with Shippo on top of her.

"Oi." Inuyasha yelled. He walked over to them and shoved Shippo off of her. He did it out of anger and jealousy. Anger because he could've hurt her and jealousy because he was getting her attention at the moment.

"It's all right Inuyasha it didn't hurt." Kagome said. (I couldn't resist. I had to put Shippo's knocking Kagome down habit in.)

"Feh." Inuyasha said.

"You sure you're ok? It looks pretty bad." Shippo said.

"I'm fine." Kagome smiled.

"If you say so." Shippo said. "I heard Naraku was back in Kyoto."

"Really? Are you sure or is it just a lie?" Kagome asked.

"I talked to Souten just before you called and she said that she saw him in school." Shippo said. "I guess he's given up on you."

"I doubt it." Kagome said. "Well at least he won't be bothering me for a while."

"We should still be on our guard." Inuyasha said.

"Come on Inuyasha lets go see if your brother has found any new information." Miroku said. He pulled Inuyasha to the door.

"No, I'm not leaving Kagome." Inuyasha yelled trying to get away from him.

"It's all right Inuyasha. I'm sure nothing will happen for the five minutes you're gone." Kagome smiled.

His worries melted away with that smile. "Fine. Just this once." He said and walked out with Miroku. After getting to the elevator he realized what she'd done. "Oi." Inuyasha yelled right as the door closed.

"She got you." Miroku said. "Women have that power. They smile at you and the next thing you know you're at their every side doing whatever they ask."

"Maybe for you." Inuyasha said. "It's only happened this once."

While they walked to Sesshomaru's office they kept arguing about it. Inuyasha told Miroku that Sango was the dominant one in their relationship. Miroku being the bigheaded pervert he is had to disagree.

They stood in front of the office door yelling at each other. They were yelling at each other. Sesshomaru could hear them outside the door. He was getting tired of their childishness. In the blink of an eye he hit them both on the head.

"Why are you standing outside my office yelling?" Sesshomaru asked.

"You didn't have to hit us." Inuyasha whined. "We came here to see if you found out anything useful."

"Not really." Sesshomaru said. "Some of my informants have yet to report to me."

"What a waste." Inuyasha said. "We come all this way and don't find out anything."

"Well I was told that he is back in Kyoto." Sesshomaru said.

"Great now you lied." Inuyasha growled. "What else are you keeping from me?"

"Nothing. That was it." Sesshomaru said.

"So does that mean it's safe for Kagome to go outside now?" Miroku asked.

"Hai." Sesshomaru said. "Although I doubt Inuyasha will let her out of his sight."

"Damn right I won't." Inuyasha said. "I'm not taking any chances."

"Well lets go back." Miroku said. "I think we should all go out to celebrate."

"Celebrate what?" Inuyasha asked.

"I don't know. I'm just hungry." Miroku said. He left the room and headed to the elevator. Inuyasha sighed and followed him. He had to admit he was hungry too.

They walked back into Inuyasha and Kagome's room. "Grab your coat Kagome." Inuyasha said.

"What for?" Kagome asked.

"We're going out to eat." He said.

"Allow me to grab your coat for you Sango." Miroku said. Sango nodded and he went to their room.

"I thought I wasn't allowed to go anywhere." Kagome said.

"Shippo and Sesshomaru both said Naraku was back in Kyoto. We just have to be careful." Inuyasha said. "Get your coat."

"I don't have one remember." Kagome said.

"Oh yeah." He walked over to the closet he had shoved all his stuff in and threw a coat at her. "Take this." He grabbed a coat for himself.

"Arigato." Kagome said and she put the coat on. Miroku came back with Sango's coat and all five of them left. "Where should we eat?"

"I don't know." Shippo said.

"How about we just go to the diner?" Sango said. "It will be like old times. Even though it wasn't that long ago."

"Hai." Everyone said. They walked to the diner. People looked at Kagome funny. Even though she was wearing Inuyasha's jacket it didn't cover the bandages on her face and legs.

"Don't worry about it." Inuyasha said. He sensed she was worried about it. He wrapped his arm around her waist.

"Arigato." She said.

They got to the diner and sat in their usual booth. Shippo had to pull up a chair because the booth only had enough seat room for four people. "I've never been here before." Shippo said.

"Well your school is on the other side of town." Kagome said.

"I know." Shippo said. Everyone ordered their usual. Shippo ordered the same thing as them. When the food got there they ate. The bill came and everyone looked at Inuyasha.

"You know one of you bums could pay for the food every once in a while." Inuyasha said.

"Ah but we wouldn't want to deprive you of paying for our meal." Miroku said.

"That was really stupid Miroku." Sango said. "And so is that." She hit him on the head for grabbing her backside.

"Lecher." Inuyasha mumbled. He was kidding about the food. He always paid for it. Well technically Sesshomaru did. It was his money.

"So what should we do now?" Sango asked.

"How about we go take a walk in the park." Kagome said. "I kind of miss it."

Everyone nodded and left. They headed for the park. Kagome missed walking through the park. Seeing the trees every once in a while was refreshing. It made her feel like she wasn't stuck in the big and busy city.

Walking a little further in Kagome felt like she was being followed. At first she thought it was her imagination. She thought maybe she was just being paranoid. Then she kept getting this uneasy feeling in the pit of her stomach.

"Hey do you guys feel like we're being followed?" Kagome asked.

"Ah so you have noticed it too." Miroku said.

"Someone's following us?" Sango asked.

"Now that you mention it I did get a whiff of something horrible earlier." Inuyasha said.

"What was it?" Kagome asked.

"I don't know. Either the wind changed or the smell got farther away. I never got a chance to make it out." Inuyasha said.

"Well just in case I suggest we go back to the hotel. Kagome doesn't need anymore stress right now. If anything happens her injuries may get worse." Miroku said.

"Arigato for worrying about me." Kagome said and gave him a hug.

Inuyasha's eyebrow twitched. "I was going to say that." He said, his voice tainted with jealousy.

Kagome did her best to hide her laugh. "Arigato to you to Inuyasha." She gave him a peck on the cheek. He felt a little better. She showed more affection to him than Miroku. Of course he'd kick Miroku's ass if he got more than a hug.

"Well I have to be heading home soon." Shippo said. "I still have some homework to do." He gave Kagome a hug. "I hope you get better soon. And take it easy." He ran off.

"Hai." Kagome waved. "Lets go."

They walked back through the park. Inuyasha had his arm around Kagome and Miroku had his arm around Sango. He did get a warning glare about his wandering hands. He listened to her for once and rested his hand on her back.

They were just about to get onto the street until something went flying through the air and towards Inuyasha.
