Chapter 23

A Package

The whole night the girls talked and watched movies. They didn't get to bed until real late. Inuyasha and Miroku heard them giggle every once in a while. They got nervous every time they did that. According to Miroku it's never good when women giggle.

The next morning, actually the next afternoon Kagome and Sango woke up. Kagome looked at the clock. "It's already one." Kagome said.

"Wait a minute wasn't I supposed to have school?" Sango said.

"I don't know. With all this stuff going on I can't remember what day it is." Kagome said. "Do you think the guys are up?"

"Lets go check." Sango said. They both walked to the door that connected their rooms. She knocked on the door. No one answered so they walked in quietly. Both guys were still sleeping.

They walked back in their room. "I wonder what they did that made them still be asleep." Kagome said.

"I don't know." Sango said. "Lets order some breakfast."

"Hai." Kagome said. She walked to the phone and dialed for room service. She ordered pancakes for Sango and herself. "It should be here soon."

"Good I'm starving." Sango said.

About ten minutes later there was a knock on the door. "Arigato." Kagome said. They both sat as the table to eat.

Inuyasha and Miroku both woke up to the smell of pancakes. They both walked into the other room and sat down next to the girls with their mouths open. "Close your mouths you're drooling all over the food." Kagome said.

"But we're hungry." Inuyasha whined.

"Then order your own food." Sango said. The boys just nodded and started eating the girl's food. "Hey."

They eventually had to order more because Inuyasha and Miroku ate theirs. They'd only gotten a couple of bites too. The food came and Inuyasha and Miroku ate their food in seconds. Kagome and Sango could only stare in amazement.

"I've never seen anyone eat like that." Kagome said.

"Neither have I." Sango said.

"If you don't hurry up and eat your food you'll see it again." Inuyasha said.

"You're still hungry?" Kagome asked. Inuyasha nodded.

"How can you guys eat so much?" Sango asked.

"It's a guy thing." Miroku said.

"I guess it is." Sango and Kagome said at the same time.

After eating everyone sat around the TV to find something to watch. "Weren't you supposed to go to school today?" Kagome asked.

"Yeah but Miroku and I figured we should take the day off." Inuyasha said.

"Why didn't you say something to me?" Sango asked.

"You and Kagome were supposed to be having fun. Did you really want to wake up after only getting about three hours of sleep?" Miroku asked.

"Well no." Sango said. "You still could've said something."

"Well you won't have to worry about school till Monday." Inuyasha said.

"Today's Friday?" Kagome asked.

"Hai." Inuyasha said.

"I didn't even know that." Kagome said. "Oh no I never told Shippo we switched hotels." Kagome got up and ran to the phone.

"I will never understand her." Inuyasha said shaking his head.

"You still love her though." Miroku said.

"Yeah." Inuyasha smiled.

"Shippo's going to come by later." Kagome said.

"Doesn't he have a life of his own?" Inuyasha asked.

"Of course he does." Kagome said. "What are you so mad about?"

"He's just jealous another male is taking your attention away from him." Miroku said.

"Oi." Inuyasha shouted.

"But he's my friend." Kagome said. "What about when I hang out with you?" She asked Miroku.

"He doesn't like that either but since he knows me he lets it slide." Miroku said.

"How do you know all this Miroku?" Kagome asked.

"Well I've known Inuyasha for a long time." Miroku sighed.

"Feh." Inuyasha said. He crossed his arms.

"So what should we do over the weekend?" Sango asked.

"I don't know." Kagome said.

"You'll have to wait for Sunday to do something together." Inuyasha said.

"What for?" Kagome asked.

"You owe me and we're spending tomorrow together." Inuyasha said.

"You tricked me you cheater." Kagome said.

"I got what I wanted I don't care." Inuyasha smirked.

"You jerk." Kagome said and hit him with a pillow. There was a knock at the door. Kagome missed Inuyasha's swing with the pillow and answered the door. "Hey Shippo."

"Hey guys." Shippo said as Kagome let him in.

"Find out anything new?" Miroku asked.

"No, seems that he's been staying out of sight." Shippo said.

"I wonder what he's up to?" Sango asked.

"I don't know." Kagome said. "So Shippo how are things?"

"Fine. Oh your mom sent me a letter for you." Shippo handed her an envelope.

"Arigato." Kagome said. She read the note. Everyone was fine and they should be back soon. Kagome smiled.

"So it's a good note?" Sango asked.

"Hai, they're doing fine." She said. There was another knock on the door. Kagome got up to answer it. One of the hotel attendants handed her a package.

"Someone left this for Higurashi, Kagome." He said.

"Arigato." Kagome said. "Who would send me something?" Kagome sat back down and looked at the package.

"Who's it from?" Sango asked.

"I don't know there's no writing on it." Kagome said.

"Open." Shippo said.

Kagome opened the package. Inside was a doll. "It looks like Shippo." Kagome said. She looked inside the box again and found a note. All it said was `Careful'. "What's that mean?"

Everyone looked at the note and the doll. "What does this mean?" Shippo asked. "Who would be making dolls of me?"

"I don't know." Kagome said. "Maybe the people at the front desk can tell us who dropped off the package or at least what they looked like."

"Sango and Miroku you guys go do that. Kagome, Shippo, and I will talk to Sesshomaru." Inuyasha said. Everyone split apart.

Inuyasha knocked on the door of Sesshomaru's office. "Come in." He said. Everyone walked in.

"Sesshomaru did you send Kagome a doll that looked like Shippo?" Inuyasha asked.

"No, why would I do that?" Sesshomaru asked.

"I don't know I was thinking maybe you were messing with her." Inuyasha said.

"I'm not the type to play around." Sesshomaru said. "So what happened?"

"Someone sent this doll and note to Kagome." Inuyasha handed them to Sesshomaru.

"It does look like him." Sesshomaru said. "I don't know what to tell you."

"Thanks anyway." Inuyasha said and they all left. They went back into the room to wait for Miroku and Sango.

They walked into the room. "What did you find out?" Inuyasha asked.

"Nothing the guys can't remember who dropped the package off." Miroku said.

"And no one else saw who dropped it off either." Sango said.

"Well I have to get going. I just wanted to drop off the letter." Shippo said.

"Be careful Shippo." Kagome said. He nodded and walked out of the room.

Shippo walked home. His house wasn't very far from the hotel his friends were staying in. He kept wondering who sent the doll. Why did it look like him? Why would they send it Kagome?

Shippo walked into his house. "Okaa-san, Otou-san I'm home." Shippo said. Something didn't smell right. He smelled blood, lots of it.

He ran into the living room. "Okaa-san, Otou-san." Shippo said. He couldn't move. His parents were lying on the ground. Dead.
